50 settlers storm al-Aqsa mosque
Picture
Dozens of extremist settlers broke into the sanctuary yards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Thursday morning, while the IOF prevented Palestinian worshipers under 50 years from entering the mosque. Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage said that the Israeli soldiers have prevented Palestinians, under 50 years, from performing Fajr (dawn) prayers, forcing them to pray outside the mosque.

Meanwhile, 50 Jewish settlers stormed al-Aqsa mosque through al-Magharbeh Gate and wandered through its yards under military protection.

The Foundation pointed that the Palestinian worshipers protested the Israeli heavy security measures on the mosque's gates, chanting Allahu Akbar (God is the Greatest).

Jewish organizations gathering under the name of "the Coalition for the Temple" have called on settlers to storm the Mosque next Saturday. They called upon the police to allow them to celebrate the Yom Kippur holiday in al-Aqsa mosque.

Israeli police spokesman Yohanna Danino has announced that Israeli police have agreed to give permission for Jews to enter into the Mosque on Saturday, considering it a part of the so-called "Jewish Temple". He said, "That is an undisputed right for Jews."

Scheme to demolish Al-Aqsa mosque and build alleged Temple Mount instead
Al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf and Heritage said that the Israeli forces backed by different official characters and organizations began planning to demolish Al-Aqsa mosque to replace it with the alleged Temple Mount.

They intensified their work aiming to meet Ben-Gurion saying on the alleged Mount, it added

The foundation recorded in a statement a number of differnt Israeli schemes in different stages seek to make Jerusalem a completely Jewish city and link the scheme primarily to the building of the Mount.

It called for protecting Al-aqsa from serious danger facing it.
Israeli Official: To Achieve Peace, Israel Must Evacuate 100,000 Settlers
Picture
Gilad Sher, former chief of staff to Ehud Barak from 1999-2001, stated that 100,000 settlers need to be evacuated if a two-state solution is to be executed in the West Bank.

“Any outline of two states for two people will involve the evacuation of settlements,” Sher said.  He explained that Israelis and Palestinians may eventually be able to build positive relationships and overcome the history between them, but that it is not feasible at the current point in time.

Sher made the statements at a one-day conference marking the 20th anniversary of the Oslo Accords during which most of the speakers addressed the issue of the most recent Israeli-Palestinian peace process since its negotiation in July.

Sher was of several speakers who called for an interim agreement.   Israeli, he said, Still, should begin preparation for a two-state solution, by halting the expansion of settlements and instead preparing a master plan to evacuate them.

The creation of such a plan may take three to four years, but  “We have to prepare ourselves in an organized way, on a national level, for the time when the settlers will come back home to the borders of Israel,” Sher continued.

He estimated that this would involve the uprooting of 100,000 people, slightly less than one third of the West Bank Jewish population.

Dov Weisglass, who served as chief of staff to former prime minister Ariel Sharon seconded the view that the evacuation of 100,000 settlers is a necessary step in paving the way for peace.

Weisglass said, should Israel's Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu come to an agreement with Palestinians, he lacks the necessary political support to turn it into a reality.

Palestinian shot 'after firing at soldiers'
Picture
Israel's army says it shot and injured a Palestinian man early Thursday after he opened fire at soldiers escorting rightists to a site in the occupied West Bank.

A military spokesman told Ma'an the Palestinian, who was not identified, was taken into custody after receiving initial medical care from an army doctor for moderate injuries.

The spokesman told Ma'an that the soldiers "fired back at the suspected shooter in self-defense" after he opened fire at soldiers amid a "large and violent riot."

The incident occurred as Israeli forces escorted hundreds of right-wing Israelis into the Balata refugee camp near Nablus so they could perform prayers at the Joseph's Tomb holy site.

Seven other Palestinians were hurt by tear-gas and rubber-coated steel bullets as Israeli forces fired at Palestinian homes. Among the injured were Thaer Qandil, Husam Qatanani, Murad Abu Musallam and Amid Abu Sayyaf.

Locals added that the invading Israeli forces detained four Palestinians. Troops used police dogs as they ransacked Palestinian homes in the camp. Three detainees were identified as Imad Abu Tayyoun and his sons Abdullah and Abboud. Two were released shortly after they were detained.

Israeli forces then detained Husam Qatanani after they injured him.

According to locals, the event started after hundreds of settlers were escorted by Israeli forces to Joseph’s Tomb where they performed Jewish rites until daybreak.

Israel's army described the escort as in line with its policy to protect freedom of religion.

"The IDF ensures freedom of religion and worship throughout the region," Lt.-Col. Peter Lerner said in a statement. "Last night's incident emphasized the challenges we have and the potential of jeopardizing basic religious beliefs."

He added: "The IDF will continue to facilitate the religious needs of the various populations in the region."

Muhammad Ayyad Awad, the spokesman of the popular committee against settlements in Beit Ummar, said that Israeli forces fired tear gas and rubber coated steel bullets at Palestinians who responded by throwing rocks at them. Two Palestinians aged 17 and 15 were injured with rubber-coated steel bullets in the hand and leg.

Picture
Wednesday evening [September 11, 2013] Israeli sources have reported that two settler women were mildly injured after a number of Palestinian youths threw stones at their car, near Beit Ummar town, north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

The sources said that the two women were moved to the Hadassah Israeli hospital in Jerusalem, suffering minor injuries.

The army initiated a search campaign, and invaded several Palestinian homes in the area.

Hebron has been subject to extensive Israeli military assaults that led to dozens of arrests and injuries, especially in the Al-Arroub refugee camp, leading to further tension in the area.

In related news, Palestinian guards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stopped an Israeli woman who tried to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied East Jerusalem, disguised as a Muslim woman covering her entire body and even her face.

Eyewitnesses said that the guards tried to talk to her and search her bag, and when she spoke back, she could not speak Arabic well, the Arabs48 news website has reported.

Israeli Policemen then arrived at the scene, and one of the guards of the mosque asked to see her identity card.

After he ID revealed her identity, she claimed that she “was Jewish but converted to Islam”, but when asked to read any verse of the Quran, or show anything that can prove her claim, she failed to do so.

Israeli Police officers searched her bag, and found a Torah; the officers then took her to a police station in Jerusalem for interrogation in an attempt to reveal why she attempted to enter the mosque pretending to be an Arab, Muslim woman.

Local sources said that a man and two women, from Um Salmouna village, have been injured in the incident, and that the man, Nidal Hayyan, 30, suffered serious injuries and was moved by an Israeli ambulance to Hadassah Israeli hospital in Jerusalem.

The two women suffered moderate-to-serious injuries, and were also moved to Hadassah.

In related news, the Palestinian District Coordination Office (DCO) handed the Israeli DCO two settlers who entered Bethlehem after being involved in a traffic accident near Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque, north of Bethlehem.

Picture
One Israeli settler tried to break into Al-Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday afternoon through Al-Majles gate, but was prevented by the guards at the gate.

Witnesses said that an Israeli female settler was wearing the Islamic attire and tried to break into Al-Aqsa, and one of the guards asked her to open her bag but she refused and it was obvious that she didn’t speak Arabic very well.

Picture
Witnesses added that the police present near Al-Majles gate arrived and asked her for her ID which revealed her being a “Jew”.

Jewish extremists from price tag vandalize public buses in Silwan
Picture
Members of the terrorist Jewish group known as the price tag gang punctured tires of three big public buses and spray-painted anti-Arab slurs on them in Thawri neighborhood of Silwan district, south of the Aqsa Mosque. Local sources reported that the sabotaged buses are owned by a Palestinian company and used to transport passengers from the district to Bethlehem and vice versa.

They added that the Israeli police did not even come to the scene to investigate the incident, noting that the owners of the bus company would lodge a complaint in this regard with the Israeli complaint center Mahesh.

Since its emergence, the price tag gang had carried out many different attacks against Palestinian property and religious sites, including arson attacks on mosques and churches.

Their attacks take the form of not only graffiti and vandalism at religious sites, but also attempted murders, burning crops, killing livestock, terrorizing villagers, and poisoning water sources.

Hundreds of trees in Nablus on fire after settlers’ attack
Picture
Jewish settlers started a huge fire in lands of Deir Hatab village, Nablus province, on Wednesday morning that destroyed hundreds of trees. Abdulkarim Suleiman, the village’s municipality chairman, said that the settlers started fire in dozens of dunums, adding that the fire was still raging in the land to which Palestinians are banned from entering without prior coordination.

He charged the Israeli occupation forces with blocking arrival of Palestinian fire brigades to the scene to extinguish the blaze that destroyed hundreds of trees.

Suleiman said that the land is 1500 meters away from the village, adding that it was not the first time that settlers started fire in it.

Settlers Set Fire to Palestinian Land near Nablus

Israeli settlers Wednesday set fire to Palestinian agricultural land in the village of Deir al-Hatab, east of Nablus, according to a local activist. Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the north of the West Bank, told WAFA that a group of settlers set fire to agricultural land planted with olive and almond trees located near the Israeli settlement of Elon Moreh.

He said that part of that land is located in a mountainous area and the other part is planted with olive and almond trees.

Israeli Official Leads Fanatics in Tour of Al-Aqsa
Picture
Around 100 Jewish fanatics headed by Minister of Housing Uri Ariel conducted a provocative tour of al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Wednesday. The tours, which have intensified recently, aim at creating new facts on the ground and at pushing the Israeli government to allow Jews to hold prayers inside the Muslim holy compound as a prelude to building their third temple on the location after destroying al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.

Muslim officials are concerned that a planned mass tour by Jewish fanatics of the compound on Thursday, the eve of the Jewish Yom Kippur holiday, may provoke clashes with Muslim worshippers.

Israeli minister enters Al-Aqsa compound under guard

Israeli housing minister Uri Ariel visited the Al-Aqsa mosque compound on Wednesday under Israeli police protection.

Witnesses said that Ariel, who is a member of the far-right Jewish Home party, headed a tour group of some 100 right-wing religious students and Rabbis.

The group entered through the Mughrabi gate and exited through the Chain gate. The tour lasted around 45 minutes.

Last week, Ariel said that Israel should have full sovereignty over the Al-Aqsa compound and that the site must be open "at any hour to every Jew."

The minister's comments and a series of recent of visits by Israeli rightists have created a sense of fear among Al-Aqsa authorities about control of the holy site.

Head of the Islamic Higher Commission, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, told Ma'an Tuesday that repeated incursions by Jewish extremists "confirm Israeli ambitions and the risks to the mosque."

He pointed to the division of the Ibrahimi mosque in Hebron, which is separated into two parts.

The compound, which sits just above the Western Wall plaza, houses both the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa mosque and is the third holiest site in Islam.

It is also venerated as Judaism's most holy place as it sits where Jews believe the First and Second Temples once stood.

According to mainstream religious leaders, Jews are forbidden from entering for fear they would profane the "Holy of Holies" the inner sanctum of the Second Temple.

Palestinian worker bitten by settler’s dog
Picture
A Palestinian worker was hospitalized on Tuesday after a settler’s dog attacked him in Taku settlement near Al-Khader village, south of Bethlehem. Ahmed Salah, the coordinator of the popular committee against settlement in Al-Khader, said that the 22-year-old Mudhafar Da’du suffered multiple injuries as a result of the attack.

He said that settlers deliberately unleashed their dog at the worker while fixing electricity problems in the settlement.

Eyewitnesses said that the attack lasted for 15 minutes while the worker was trying to defend himself and other workers also tried to help but to no avail. They said that Israeli police arrived to the scene and took away the dog and carried the worker to hospital.

IOA court orders four Jerusalemites out of town for two weeks
Picture
The Israeli Magistrate court in occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday ordered the banishment of four Jerusalemites for two weeks. The four were arrested last Friday after they joined in defending the Aqsa Mosque against settlers’ attack.

Local sources said that the banishment includes deprivation of entering the Old City and the Aqsa Mosque.

The same court had ruled on Monday the banishment of two children for the same period.

Palestinian political circles warned of the dangerous banishment policy pursued by the Israeli occupation authorities against Jerusalemites, which, they said, aim at emptying the holy city of its indigenous inhabitants.

150 settlers storm al-Aqsa mosque this morning
Picture
Nearly 150 Jewish settlers stormed al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday led by rabbis telling them about the alleged temple. A state of tension has prevailed among the Muslim worshipers who protested the presence of the Jewish settlers in the Islamic holy site.

The Aqsa Association for Religious Endowments (Waqf) and Heritage called on the Arab and Islamic world to take firm positions to protect al-Aqsa mosque from the Israeli serious schemes. The foundation also stressed the need to intensify the Muslim presence in al-Aqsa mosque.

The settlers' raid into al-Aqsa mosque came in light of the Israeli Coalition for the Temple's calls to open the mosque for Jews on Saturday to perform their rituals as they mark Yom Kippur (Day of Repentance). An Israeli parliament committee has approved in an unprecedented move the opening of al-Aqsa Mosque yards for Jews to perform their rituals inside it during this month.

The foundation stated that such measure came in an attempt to impose a status quo on the mosque and to divide it.

For its part, Hamas movement strongly condemned the Israeli decision to allow Jewish settlers to perform their rituals in al-Aqsa mosque.

The Israeli decision came in total provocation to Muslims' religious feelings, the spokesman of the movement said.

The movement called on the Arab and Islamic nation to bear its responsibility towards al-Aqsa mosque in light of the Israeli escalated schemes.

Hamas stated that PA decision to resume talks provides a cover to the Israeli crimes through the securing coordination and the prosecution of resistance leaders in West Bank.

Mufti of Jerusalem warns of the seriousness of Jewish calls for storming Al-Aqsa
Picture
Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine Sheikh Mohammad Hussein warned of the growing Israeli calls for storming Al-Aqsa Mosque and tightening the Jewish control over it. The last of these calls was by the occupation Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino in which he falsely claimed the right of Jews to pray inside Al-Aqsa considering it one of the yards the alleged temple.

Sheikh Hussein said in a statement on Tuesday: "The remarks and practices by the occupation authorities against the holy sites, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque, represent serious violations."

He warned of the consequences of the attitude of silence regarding these calls that carry serious intentions against the holy sites, as he said.

Hussein pointed out that the calls for storming Al-Aqsa Mosque comes after similar calls by the Jewish rabbis to demolish the Aqsa and build the alleged temple on its ruins, which refers to the "imminent danger faced by the Islamic Mosque that must be protected by all Muslims."

The preacher of Al-Aqsa mosque appealed to Palestinian citizens in the city of Jerusalem and the 1948 territories to flock to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and defend it against the Jewish attacks.

Israelis Slash Tires of Buses in Arab Jerusalem Neighborhood
Picture
Israelis believed to be related to the terror group Price Tag Tuesday slashed tires of three public buses in the Arab neighborhood of al-Thouri, south of Jerusalem, witnesses told WAFA. They said graffiti such as “death to Arabs,” “stone terrorists” and “price tag,” were painted on the buses that operate on the Jerusalem-Bethlehem route while parked in the neighborhood.

Bus operators said they discovered the damage in the morning and had informed the police of the incident, whom they said never came to the crime scene.

Aqsa foundation deplores Israeli police claims about Jews' right to pray at Aqsa
Picture
The Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage strongly denounced chief of the Israeli police Yohanan Dnino for his remarks about the Jews' right to pray at the Aqsa Mosque within the regulations and the time set by the police. In a press release on Monday, the foundation reiterated that the Aqsa Mosque belongs only to Muslims and the Jews have no right to a grain of its soil.

The foundation said that Dnino blatantly gave the Jewish settlers permission to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque for their rituals, describing his remarks in this regard as extremely dangerous.

The foundation noted that Israel's police and its intelligence agencies are behind the dangers threatening the Aqsa Mosque because they provide protection and support for the Jewish groups to violate its sanctity.

The foundation slammed the silence of the Arab and Muslim worlds on Israel's violations against the Aqsa Mosque and called on the decision makers to have an active role in protecting the Mosque and supporting its cause.

Occupation begins digging a canal in Jerusalem
Picture
Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan said that the Israeli occupation bulldozers on Monday morning began digging what looks like a trench to separate the Issawiyya village and the French Hill settlement . Member of the follow-up Committee in Issawiyya, Mohammed Abu Hummus, explained that the Jerusalem Municipality bulldozers started since the morning digging a ditch to separate the village and the settlement, under the pretext of "security reasons."

He pointed out that the length of the ditch reaches more than ten meters, and pointed out that the land is owned by Palestinians, and has been confiscated since years.

Abu Hummus said the settlers have recently called on the Israeli municipality to dig the trench in order to prevent the residents of Issawiyya from entering the settlement, under the pretext that they have been throwing Molotov cocktails at settlers.

He denied the settlers' allegations and stressed that the residents of Issawiyya are the ones suffering from the settlers' attacks.

"The municipality has recently closed a road between the village and the settlement used by Palestinian cars, and today they are digging a trench to restrict the movement of pedestrians."

Jewish calls for massive storming of Aqsa
Picture
Likud party activists announced intention to storm the Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem next Thursday to celebrate “Yom Kippur”, AFEH said. Mahmoud Abul Atta, the spokesman for the Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage (AFEH), said in a statement on Monday that other Jewish groups had called for massive storming of the Aqsa on the Jewish feast of “Sukkot”, which is celebrated in the period 19 – 26 September.

He described in this respect statements by Israel Police Commissioner, Yohanan Danino, as “serious and unprecedented”. Danino said that Jews have the right to offer prayers in the Aqsa Mosque.

Abul Atta said that the issue was no longer of mere storming but rather there is a kind of coordination among various institutions within the Israeli establishment that is pushing for dividing the Aqsa Mosque between Muslims and Jews.

Document confirms World Zionist Organization allocates land to Israeli settlers in Jordan valley
Picture
Confiscated Palestinian Land

The World Zionist Organization(WZO)has allocated to settlers in the Jordan Valley more than 5,000 dunams (1,235 acres) of private Palestinian land located east of the border fence, namely, between that fence and the actual border with the Kingdom of Jordan, Haaretz reported. This area between the border fence and the actual border — the Jordan River — is a closed military zone that in some places is two kilometers wide. A military order prevents the Palestinian owners from accessing their lands in this area. On the other hand, Jewish settlers are allowed to farm the lands.

In January, Haaretz reported that under the aegis of this order, the WZO had allocated to settlers in the Jordan Valley over 5,000 dunams of private Palestinian lands. Following this report, the Israeli Civil Administration began to investigate how this situation had come about and how much land had been allocated in this manner.

Discussions have recently been held in the Civil Administration and in the office of the coordinator of Israeli government activities in the territories on this matter. It is a complex legal issue, because the settlers farming these lands were legally allocated the lands by the WZO. On the other hand, the lands also legally belong to their Palestinian owners. The coordinator of Israeli government activities in the territories, Maj. Gen. Eitan Dangot, has instructed that all Palestinians who request compensation for the lands they cannot farm should be compensated by the Civil Administration.

A Civil Administration official has told Haaretz that the Civil Administration has no intention of initiating any action with regard to this matter. “If someone submits a petition to the Supreme Court in its capacity as the High Court of Justice, requesting that his lands be returned to him, we will have to decide what to do,” the official said.

Settlers Uproote Trees Near Hebron

Israeli soldiers kidnapped, on Sunday evening [September 8, 2013] a young Palestinian woman in Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

Local sources said that the young woman has been identified as Ayaat Mahfouth, 20, and that she is was previously kidnapped and imprisoned twice, and was released from an Israeli detention facility a month ago.

The soldiers claimed that she carried a knife, and attempted to stab a soldier.

Also in Hebron, a number of extremist Israeli settlers uprooted more than 40 Palestinian olive trees in Khirbit Homra village, east of Yatta.

Several extremist settlers also prevented farmers from reaching their lands in a number of areas south of Hebron, and hurled stones at Palestinian cars causing damage.

PA official: Settlers attack vehicles in Nablus

A group of extremist settlers attacked dozens of Palestinian vehicles in Nablus overnight Saturday, a Palestinian Authority official said.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activity in the northern West Bank, told Ma'an that settlers threw empty bottles and stones at cars traveling on the Ramallah-Nablus road near the illegal Eli settlement.

At least 25 vehicles were damaged, he added.

Israeli forces closed the checkpoints of Huwwara and Zatara in response to the incident.

Settlers routinely attack Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank with impunity.

Annual figures compiled by Israeli rights group Yesh Din have repeatedly shown that nine out of 10 police investigations about settler crimes fail to lead to a prosecution.
