A Palestinian report on Saturday warned of an Israeli plan to build 1,000 settler units on lands annexed from the villages of at-Tur, Anata, Eizariya and Abu Dis in the area known as “E1” in east Jerusalem.
The plan is aimed at expanding the borders of Occupied Jerusalem as part of what Israel calls the “greater Jerusalem” project and its intents to annex large areas of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The report, which was issued by the National Bureau for Defending Land (an affiliate of the Palestine Liberation Organization), said that the project, if implemented, would completely close off the eastern area of Jerusalem, encircle Anata, at-Tur and Hizma with settler units and block the possibility of any future Palestinian urban expansion towards the east.
It also said that this Israeli project would connect all the illegal settlements in the eastern area and outside the Israeli municipal borders in Jerusalem with the settlements within the municipal boundaries of Moshe Leon and turn the Palestinian villages and districts in this area into besieged ghettos.
The report pointed out that the Israeli occupation authority might annex wide areas of the West Bank to the new municipal boundaries of greater Jerusalem.

The Israeli occupation authorities today demolished animal sheds in a village east of Bethlehem, as owners of tin structures in the south of the West Bank, were told their shelters will be demolished, according to sources.
Ahmad Ghazal, deputy head of Kisan village council, east of Bethlehem, told WAFA that an Israeli occupation force raided the village this morning with a bulldozer and proceeded to demolish animal shelters used by two local residents under the pretext of building without a permit.
He said the owners were informed only yesterday of the demolition order and given only 24 hours to empty them of their contents or they will be arrested.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation authority said today that it is going to expropriate 327 dunums of Kisan village land in order to expand the illegal settlement of Aibi Hanahal, built on village land, according to Hasan Breijieh, from the Wall and Settlements Resistance Committee.

Illegal Israeli colonial settlers set up tents today at a Palestinian-owned land near the village of Beita, to the south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to a local source.
Ghassan Daghlas, an official in charge of monitoring Israeli colonial activities in Nablus Governorate, told WAFA that settlers set up six tents in Jabal Sbeih area, near Beita village, apparently in a prelude to take over the land and establish a new settlement outpost.
Daghlas said that over recent years, Israeli settlers have been trying to take over Palestinian land in the area by various means, but all those attempts were thwarted by the local Palestinian population.
He pointed out that current attempts by Israeli settlers and settler organizations to expropriate Palestinian land are part of the Israeli government's plan to annex portions of the occupied West Bank to the occupying state's sovereignty.
There are about 700,000 colonial Israeli settlers living in the occupied West Bank settlements in violation of international law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention which expressly bans the relocation of the occupying nation's civilian population to the land of the occupied.
The occupying state of Israel captured the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights following the 1967 war, and has since built hundreds of illegal Jewish-only settlements throughout the occupied territories.
