Hordes of Israeli settlers on Monday morning set the foundations for a new illegal settlement outpost in al-Sahla area, to the south of the Ibrahimi Mosque, in al-Khalil.
Head of al-Khalil rehabilitation committee, Imad Hamdan, said Israeli settlers set metal foundations on a Palestinian pitch near al-Ibrahimi Mosque, paving the way for the construction of an Jewish-only ghetto.
According to Hamdan, the Israeli project covers an area of up to 500 square meters.
Earlier, the Israeli occupation army seized parts of the pitch and turned it into a military site.
Hamdan added that the move makes part of underway attempts, by the occupation authorities and settler gangs, to crack down on the Palestinians and force them out of the area so as to facilitate the misappropriation of their land and speed up the Judaization of the occupied territories.

The Israeli occupation army is about to resume the construction of an apartheid fence along the borders between Gaza and the Green Line, Hebrew-speaking Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported Monday.
According to the newspaper, two Israeli companies will complete the construction of the border fence at an estimated budget of up to $55 million per every company.
The decision was opted for following a visit paid by senior officers at the Israeli war ministry to the area to inspect the first section of the wall built in the initial test phase.
The Israeli occupation army decided to construct a new offensive line along the borders with blockaded Gaza allegedly to rein in underground tunnels dug up by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
The plan includes the construction of an under-and-above-ground concrete wall at dozens of meters over and under the ground and 60 kilometers length.
According to data by the Israeli Ministry of Public Security, the apartheid wall will cost $550 million. Other parties estimated that the project will cost up to one billion and a quarter dollars.

The Israeli Planning and building committee is scheduled to discuss on Wednesday a new plan to build 500 settlement units in Ramat Shlomo settlement established on private Palestinian land, Haaretz Hebrew newspaper revealed Monday.
The plan to build 500 houses includes expropriation of private Palestinian land; Jerusalem municipality is planning to establish additional projects beyond Green Line in the aftermath of Donald Trump's election as U.S. president, the newspaper wrote.
The plan includes the construction of 500 homes in an area of 76 dunums located between Ramat Shlomo settlement and Shufat neighborhood, according to the sources.
The Israeli municipality in occupied Jerusalem said that it will confiscate private Palestinian lands for the implementation of the settlement project.
The plan had been approved two years ago; however, it was suspended due to U.S. pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli occupation authorities have earlier declared intention to build more than 30,000 settlement outposts in occupied Jerusalem after Donald Trump's election as U.S. president.

An Israeli newspaper has revealed that the Israeli government intends to build more than 30,000 housing units in east Jerusalem after US president-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office in January 2017.
According to the new Israeli plans, 15,000 housing units will be built in place of the Jerusalem-Qalandiya airport, and other thousands will be in the industrial zone of Qalandiya (Atarot) and hundreds in Ramot and Gilo settlements.
Meir Turgeman, deputy head of Israel's municipal authority in Occupied Jerusalem, told Kol Ha'ir newspaper that these settlement plans had been frozen over the last two years because of pressures by the international community and the outgoing US administration.
But now, he says, he is filing the construction plans for approval by the Israeli competent authorities.

The Israeli Supreme Court rejected Wednesday an appeal filed by Palestinian villagers over Israel’s confiscation of their agricultural land east of Qalqilia.
The Palestinian committee against Apartheid Wall and settlement construction said Thursday that an Israeli court rejected yesterday an appeal submitted by residents of occupied West Bank villages of al-Nabi Elyas, Azzun, and Ezbet Atabib against the Israeli confiscation of their lands.
In December 2015, Israeli authorities issued a military order to confiscate 104 dunums of Qalqilia lands to build a road.
The Palestinian residents filed an appeal against the order, stressing that the land confiscation would only benefit Israeli settlers in the area.

Britain’s Foreign Office minister, Tobias Ellwood, expressed Thursday deep concern over “the land regulation bill in the Israeli Knesset to legalize settlement outposts across the West Bank.”
"We are deeply concerned by the land regulation bill in the Israeli Knesset to ‘legalize’ settlement outposts across the West Bank," Ellwood said in a statement issued today.
Such outposts are currently illegal under both Israeli domestic law and international humanitarian law. Should this proposal go ahead, it would seriously undermine prospects for a two-state solution, the statement said.
Ellwood urged the Israeli government to “reconsider the land regulation bill at the earliest opportunity.”
The so-called "Israeli land regulation bill" was approved by the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation on Sunday and will now go to the Knesset for approval.
The international community has vehemently opposed Israeli construction in areas Israel occupied in 1967, saying it undermines the prospects of a two-state solution.

Secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative Mustafa al-Barghouthi has condemned the Israeli government’s decision to legalize 120 settler outposts in the West Bank as “a serious crime,” and called for confronting it.
“Legitimizing 120 settler outposts means that there will be 120 new settlements to be expanded in the West Bank and Jerusalem,” Barghouthi stated on Monday.
“Israel is racing against time to impose a new fait accompli on the ground in order to torpedo the idea of establishing an independent Palestinian state,” the Palestinian official added.
He accused the Israeli government’s ministers of competing with each other to show who could be more extremist and racist than the other towards the Palestinian people and their holy sites, pointing to the recent attempts at the Knesset to ban the use of loudspeakers to recite Adhan (call to prayer) at Palestinian Mosques.
Barghouthi also slammed Israel as “being worse than the apartheid regime that existed in the past in South Africa.”

The Israeli Supreme Court rejected Monday an Israeli government’s appeal to postpone the eviction of Amona illegal settlement in West Bank.
Yesh Din human rights organization affirmed that the Supreme Court approved the eviction of Amona settlement by December 25 since it was built on private Palestinian land.
"The evacuation must occur before December 25," the court said in its ruling on Monday. "The court rejects the delay requested by the state."
The high court ruled in 2014 that Amona, northeast of Ramallah in the central West Bank, must be evacuated.
With the Amona deadline in mind, a committee of Israeli ministers on Sunday approved a bill that would allow the establishment of settlement homes on private Palestinian lands.
