The Palestinian Authority (PA) forces on Saturday handed over five Israeli settlers who crept into the occupied West Bank to the Israeli military forces.
According to the Hebrew-speaking Yedioth Ahronot daily, an Israeli settler was arrested in Bethlehem after he attacked a guard at a Palestinian archaeological site.
Four other settlers were arrested at a shopping mall in Nablus. The five arrestees were however returned to the occupation army shortly afterwards and without interrogation.
Observers said the move makes part of ongoing security cooperation between the PA and the Israeli army. Several settlers have gone unpunished by the PA forces despite their involvement in attacks against Palestinian civilians and anti-occupation activists.

The Palestinian ex-prisoner Qassam Halaiqa, 25, has received two summons from both the Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) and the Palestinian Preventive Service (PPS) only one week before his wedding.
Halaiqa’s brother, Majed, was also summoned by IOA for investigation after Israeli occupation forces violently stormed their family house in Shyoukh town to the south of al-Khalil.
The two brothers’ father, Mussa Halaiqa, has been held in Israeli jails for 13 years.
Qassam Halaiqa was released from Israeli jails last February after spending two years in administrative detention.
Majed was also released from Israeli jails only two months ago after being held for 28 months in administrative detention.
The two brothers were also detained for three times by PA forces.

The family of Usama Mafarjeh, who has been held captive at the Palestinian Authority (PA) intelligence apparatus in Ramallah for 6 days, affirmed that their son is being subjected to torture and ill-treatment.
He was tortured by tying him to a chair for long hours and depriving him of sleep regardless of being on hunger strike since he was arrested in protest at his illegal politically-motivated arrest, the family highlighted.
The Mafarjeh family held PA President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah as well as Head of the PA intelligence apparatus Majed Faraj responsible for what is happening to their son in isolation cells and for anything wrong that might happen to him.
The family called on Palestinian factions, human rights organizations along with key national figures to exert efforts for releasing captive Mafarjeh along with all political prisoners. They also asked the university administration to immediately intervene to save the life of Mafarjeh and to assume responsibility for its students.
Mafarjeh, who is student at Birzeit University, was arrested last Monday based on his university activities in serving students as the coordinator of the Islamic bloc, the student wing of Hamas Movement. His arrest came after several failed previous attempts to arrest him by the PA security forces.
