Hamas mourns Palestinian youth killed by Israeli fire
Picture
The Hamas Movement mourned the Palestinian young man Dhiaa al-Talahma who was shot dead  at dawn Tuesday by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in al-Khalil’s town of Dura, in the southern West Bank.

The Movement stressed the importance of resistance option to respond to Israeli continued crimes against the Palestinian people.

The statement pointed out that the victim was arrested more than once in PA jails for his political affiliation.

The Movement called on PA to stop persecuting Palestinian youths in the West Bank for their political affiliation.

For its part, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said that al-Talahma’s assassination and all Israeli crimes will never go without punishment.

The PFLP called on the international community to stop Israeli escalated crimes against Palestinian people in occupied Jerusalem, Gaza, and West Bank.

22-year-old Dhiaa al-Talahma, a student at al-Quds University, was shot dead at dawn Tuesday by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in al-Khalil’s town of Dura, in the southern West Bank.

A PIC journalist quoted the casualty’s family as stating that the Israeli occupation troops shot Dhiaa with live ammunition in his head at the Kharsa crossroads.

Dhiaa kept bleeding for long hours as the IOF prevented the ambulance crews from reaching him. Dhiaa was later handed dead to the ambulance personnel.

Poll: Two-thirds of Palestinians want Abbas to step down
Picture
A public opinion poll published on Monday showed that Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas’s popularity has declined in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

In contrast to Abbas’s drop in the poll, the popularity of Hamas leader Ismail Haneyya has increased significantly in the West Bank.

The poll, which was conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah, also showed that the popularity of Hamas improved in the West Bank.

Fatah’s popularity has declined in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the poll found.

The poll conducted in the West Bank and Gaza Strip between September 17 and 19, covered 1,270 adults and has a three percent margin of error.

According to the results, 65% of respondents want Abbas to resign, while 31% want him to remain in office. Two-thirds believe Abbas’s recent resignation from the PLO Executive Committee is not real.

If Abbas does not run in a new election, 32% of respondents prefer to see jailed Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti replace him, the results showed.

A majority of 66% of respondents rejects a return to unconditional negotiations with Israel if that means no cessation of illegal settlement construction.

An overwhelming majority of 88% wants the PA to take the Israeli occupation to the International Criminal Court for building illegal settlements.

Two thirds of the public support Hamas-Israel indirect negotiations over a long term truce, in return for ending the siege over the Gaza Strip. But a majority believes that these negotiations will not succeed.

Findings show that two thirds of the public believe that protection of Palestinians against settlers' terrorism is the responsibility of the PA, not the Israeli army. But two thirds believe that the PA is not doing enough to protect the Palestinian citizens.

To protect Palestinian towns and villages targeted by settlers, the largest percentage has selected, from among several options, the deployment of the Palestinian security forces in those areas.

Several factors might explain the drop in the popularity of Abbas and Fatah, including current tensions and confrontations in al-Aqsa Mosque, the belief that the PA prevents demonstrations against the Israeli occupation, and the PA’s failure to protect Palestinians against settlers’ terrorism in the occupied Palestinian territories.

PA security quells Bethlehem rally urging Abbas to step down
Picture

The Palestinian Authority (PA) apparatuses attacked on Sunday a group of Palestinian citizens after they took to Bethlehem streets to demand Abbas’s resignation.

According to a PIC journalist, the rally-goers chanted slogans urging the PA Chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, to step down and cease security coordination with the Israeli occupation.

Clashes flared up after the PA soldiers prevented the marchers from reaching the district headquarters.

The PA forces reportedly unleashed live ammunition to disband the demonstrators.

Photojournalists Muheissen al-Amareen, 30, and Mu’adh Amarna, 28, along with the youth activist Mondher Ameira and four unidentified protesters were abducted by the PA apparatuses in the process.

The protesters rallied in front of the Duheisha refugee camp shortly afterwards and closed the access road in protest at the PA violations.

Meanwhile, local media sources said the PA intensified military deployment in the area in an attempt to quell further protests demanding the departure of Abbas.

Earlier, on Friday, the PA forces attacked a peaceful demo staged in support of the holy al-Aqsa Mosque and the peaceful Muslim sit-inners.

Hamas: National reconciliation prevents dividing al-Aqsa
Picture
Hamas Movement called on PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas to accelerate implementation of the Palestinian national reconciliation, arguing that it that would block Israeli schemes to divide al-Aqsa Mosque.

Hamas’s foreign relations chief Osama Hamdan said that what is happening in al-Aqsa Mosque needs speedy steps towards Palestinian national unity.

Hamas is totally committed to reconciliation and national unity, he affirmed.

Speaking to Quds Press on Monday, Hamadan pointed to the phone conversation between Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal during which the latter stressed the need to accelerate the reconciliation implementation.

Hamdan, meanwhile, warned of using the reconciliation as a political maneuver to resume talks with occupation.

In another context, the senior leader in Hamas Movement renewed his movement’s rejection of the French initiative that supports, according to him, the Israeli positions.

Hamas: PA’s quelling of pro-Aqsa marches “national crime”
Picture
Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, slammed the Palestinian Authority (PA) for quelling pro-Aqsa marches in the West Bank especially in Bethlehem and Jenin.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said, in a press statement on Friday evening, PA’s quelling of pro-Aqsa marches is a national crime and contribution to the Israeli crimes against the Aqsa Mosque.

The PA’s security forces arrested 17 citizens from different governorate in the West Bank for political backgrounds and quelled so many marches in support of the Aqsa Mosque.

Three journalists working for local TV channels and news agencies were included in the PA’s arrests.

Massive rallies and demonstrations are seen in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Jordan and other Muslim and Arab countries in response to the calls for general mobilization in support of the Aqsa Mosque.

The pro-Aqsa marches aim at defending the holy site from Israeli latest unprecedented escalation in an attempt to impose the temporal and spatial division at the Aqsa Mosque between Arabs and Jews.

Nikola Mladenov arrives in Gaza
Picture
UN Special Coordinator for the settlement process in the Middle East Nikola Mladenov arrived in Gaza Thursday morning.

Local sources revealed that Mladenov arrived in the blockaded enclave through Erez crossing. His visit aims at holding talks with international, UN and local officials to discuss several issues on the conditions in Gaza, the sources added.

The sources pointed out that the UN representative will hold a press conference at the UN headquarters in Gaza City.

Mladenov’s visit to Gaza coincides with the presence of the Ambassador of Qatar Mohammad Emadi, who supervises Qatari projects in Gaza, in addition to international and EU delegations who are visiting the besieged coastal enclave.

It is the third visit paid by Mladenov to Gaza since he was appointed as the UN Special Coordinator for the settlement process in the Middle East last March.

Hamas: Quelling resistance will not prevent uprising for al-Aqsa
Picture
Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, said all the attempts of quelling the resistance will fail as the Aqsa Mosque is a key issue in the struggle against the Israeli occupation.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hamas said the Israeli occupation is making advantage of every effort to provide cover for his crimes against the Aqsa Mosque and holy places. It also slammed the Palestinian Authority (PA) for chasing the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank and for participating in the siege on Gaza.

The statement pointed out that the fabrication of power crisis and the PA media campaign aim at covering the Israeli crimes.

Hamas said the American decision of blacklisting resistance leaders as terrorists and seizing their money encourages Israel to escalate the process of Judaization of the Aqsa Mosque.

The resistance movement hailed the steadfastness of the Jerusalemite people and the sit-inners at the Mosque. It called on Palestinian youths to confront, by all means, the Israeli attempts of Judaizing the Muslims’ holy site.

It also called on the Arab and Muslim countries to take action against the Israeli violations against the Aqsa Mosque and asked them to withdraw their ambassadors from Israel as well as to expel ambassadors of Israel out of their capitals.

Hamas held the international community responsible for the Israeli ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and its holy places.

Mishaal calls Abbas, discusses developments at al-Aqsa
Picture
Head of Hamas political bureau Khaled Mishaal reached Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas over the phone and discussed with him the Israeli escalation against the Aqsa Mosque.

According to Wafa Palestinian news agency, the phone call between Mishaal and Abbas was on the Israeli violations in Occupied Jerusalem especially at the Aqsa Mosque.

Other issues were also tackled including the reconciliation file and implementation of what have been agreed upon previously as the main way of ending division, the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.

Abu Marzouk arrives in Cairo, meets Egyptian officials
Picture
Member of Hamas political bureau, Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk, arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening on an official visit for talks on several issues.

Quds Press revealed on Tuesday that Abu Marzouk will hold talks with Egyptian officials on issues including the four Palestinians abducted in Sinai one month ago. The visit also aims at following up on other issues of mutual concern.

Hamas denied any connection between Abu Marzouk’s visit to Egypt and the visit of Islamic Jihad secretary general, Ramadan Shallah, to the country one month ago. It was scheduled before Shallah’s visit, Hamas said.

It is the second visit by Abu Marzouk since the end of last summer’s Israeli aggression on Gaza. At the same time, it is the first visit paid by a Hamas leader to Cairo after the kidnapping of the four Palestinians in Sinai and after the escalation in the hostile media campaign against Hamas Movement in Egypt.

Erdogan meets Mishaal for one-hour closed meeting in Ankara
Picture
The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received on Monday the head of Hamas political bureau Khaled Mishaal in a closed meeting in Ankara.

The meeting was held in the presidency palace in Ankara and lasted for one hour, Anadolu Agency disclosed.

In his participation in the Justice and Development Party Ordinary Congress on Saturday, Mishaal hailed the Turkish political experience and expressed gratitude for Turkey’s supportive stands with the Palestinian people.

The official website of Hamas Movement on Saturday quoted Mishaal as appreciating Turkey’s efforts for ending the siege on Gaza and starting reconstruction of Palestinians’ homes that were destroyed in Israel's 2014 summer aggression on Gaza.

PFLP calls for canceling Oslo accords
Picture
On the 22nd anniversary of the signing of the Oslo accords, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) called Monday for canceling the Oslo agreement and its security, economic, and political addendums.

In a statement issued Monday evening, the PFLP called for re-tabling the Palestinian issue within the UN framework and for implementing the UN resolutions and not to negotiate over them.

The Oslo accords have brought untold suffering on the Palestinian people in light of the Israeli continued occupation, settlement expansion, escalated crimes and attacks, and Judaization schemes, the statement reads.

According to the statement, there is no Palestinian national project as long as the Oslo accords continue to exist.

Security coordination between Palestinian and Israeli authorities and the direct and indirect meetings with occupation leaders push forward for canceling the Oslo accords and its catastrophic effects on the Palestinian cause, the PFLP said.

The statement concluded by calling for re-structuring the Palestine Liberation Organization and for ensuring a unity session for the Palestinian National Council.

PA to provide health insurance to 45,000 poor families
Picture
The Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Affairs announced plans on Monday to provide health insurance to up to 45,000 poor families in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Minister of Health Jawad Awwad and Minister of Social Affairs Shawqi al-Ayassa said they had signed a memorandum of understanding on the plans. Awwad said that the health insurance would cover 100 percent of medical treatment for 32,000 families, and 95 percent for 13,000 families.

Al-Ayassa added that the insurance would also go toward non-Palestinian families living in the occupied Palestinian territory "provided that they have been residents in Palestine for more than five years, and are in a very bad financial situation."

The two ministries will reportedly share information using an online platform as they begin to identify eligible families for the insurance. It was not clear whether the health insurance would go toward families in the Gaza Strip, where government ministries are run by the coastal enclave's de facto leaders Hamas.

The occupied Palestinian territory has faced a number of crises in the health sector over the last year. Gaza's health sector came under severe strain during last summer's Israeli offensive, with both hospitals and health centers damaged or destroyed by Israeli forces.

In the occupied West Bank, the PA struggled to subsidize hospitals earlier this year after the Israeli government withheld hundreds of millions of dollars worth of taxes it collects on the PA's behalf. The crisis brought private hospitals across the territory to the verge of collapse.

Sheikh Sabri calls for ending security cooperation with the occupation
Picture
Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, head of the higher Islamic council, has called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) leadership to end its security collaboration with the Israeli occupation.

In his Friday khutba (sermon) at the Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Sabri highlighted that "the security coordination with the occupation is rejected by the Islamic religion and goes against the Palestinian people's higher interests.

He stressed the need for stopping this kind of cooperation with the occupation and renouncing all acts of societal and political hypocrisy.

He also talked about the recent dangers threatening the Aqsa Mosque and the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people under the occupation.

Abu Marzouk: Hamas arranges visit to Moscow
Picture
Hamas senior official Mousa Abu Marzouk announced that his movement is arranging a visit to the capital city of Russia, Moscow, and welcomes a visit to Tehran. He confirmed, meanwhile, that no agreement has been reached on a ceasefire with Israel.

In an interview with the Anadolu Agency, Abu Marzouk said Hamas has strong and good relations with everybody for the interest of the Palestinian Question. He announced that arrangements for a visit to Moscow are underway and declared the intention to pay a visit to Tehran.

The member of Hamas political bureau Abu Marzouk said, “There are several initiatives to consolidate ceasefire (in Gaza) for the sake of solving the crises in the blockaded enclave.

“Any consolidation of the calm signed in Cairo during last year’s war on Gaza must be in return for opening Gaza’s borders; the unimpeded delivery of building materials into Gaza; lifting the siege on Gaza; allowing Gaza’s airport to operate; and allowing construction of a Gaza seaport.”, he said.

Abu Marzouk denied that Hamas was engaged in talks with Israel regarding proposals for a long-term truce, saying that what have been offered fails to meet the demands of the Palestinian people. He also called on Egypt to reactivate its role in this regard.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has denied allegations by other Palestinian factions, including Fatah, that it is seeking to establish a separate state in the Gaza Strip in return for a long-term truce with Israel.

He added that Hamas is holding talks with the Palestinian factions to acquaint them with the results of its talks with European and international parties on the truce.

In August of last year, Israel signed a ceasefire deal with Hamas along with other Palestinian factions. The deal ended a devastating 51-day Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip that left some 2,160 Palestinians, mostly civilians, dead.

In a similar context, Abu Marzouk said the abduction of four Palestinians by unknown assailants in the northern Sinai Peninsula foils relations with Egypt as it bears direct responsibility for the safety and security of the four abductees since they were kidnapped on its land.

Hamas, he added, considered the abductions a serious matter that contravenes all diplomatic and security norms of the Egyptian state. However, he confirmed that investigations are ongoing at both sides.

Regarding the Israeli plans to divide the Aqsa Mosque temporally between Muslims and Jews, Abu Marzouk warned of enforcing the temporal division and called on the Arab and Muslim nations to confront such Israeli plans by all means.

Bahar: The resistance will raise the Palestinian flag over the walls of J'lem
Picture
The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) has welcomed the UN General Assembly's overwhelming vote in favor of a motion allowing the Palestinian flag to be raised outside the international body's buildings.

In a press release on Friday, first deputy speaker of the PLC Ahmed Bahar stated that "the resistance will achieve the real Palestinian sovereignty by raising the flag of Palestine over the walls of Jerusalem after its liberation from the occupation."

"The Palestinian people appreciate all voices advocating the freedom and independence of Palestine and its liberation from the occupation," Bahar said.

"We welcome all steps that would support the Palestinian people's right to restore their usurped rights and achieve their aspiration for freedom," he added.

He urged the UN to take concrete action to curb Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people and assume its responsibilities towards the Palestinian cause.
