Carter to arrive in Gaza on Thursday
Picture
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will arrive in the Gaza Strip on Thursday to meet officials of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, a security source said on Sunday.

Carter will arrive in Gaza on Thursday through the Erez border crossing to meet leading Hamas officials, a Palestinian security source, requesting anonymity, told the Anadolu Agency.

Maher Abu Sabha, head of the Palestinian border authority, for his part, told Anadolu Agency that the head of Carter's office will arrive in Gaza within hours accompanied by a security delegation via the Erez crossing to prepare for Carter's imminent visit.

Israeli news outlet Ynet said that Carter would be arriving on April 30 on a three-day visit to Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

“Israel has officially decided to boycott Carter's visit, but it won't bar him from entering Israel or from crossing to Gaza,” Ynet added.

A Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Carter visited the Gaza Strip in 2009 and held several meetings with leading Hamas figures, including head of Hamas political bureau Khaled Mishaal and former Prime Minister Ismail Haneyya.

Since the Israeli offensive ended on August 26 of last year, a number of United Nations officials and foreign ministers of European countries visited the besieged Gaza Strip. The most significant officials who visited the blockaded enclave are UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Special Envoy of the Middle East Quartet Tony Blair.

Palestinian-European chamber of commerce sees the day in Berlin Conference
Picture
Palestinian entrepreneurs have announced the establishment of the Palestinian-European Chamber of Commerce and the Coalition of Palestinian Businessman in Europe on the sidelines of the annual session of the Thirteenth Conference of Palestinians in Europe, held on Saturday, in the German capital Berlin.

The decision was announced at conclusion of a workshop attended by a group of investors and businessmen from Palestine and different Arab and European countries.

The decision falls in line with the calls launched, during the conference, by the Palestine Business Forum for the establishment of a Palestinian chamber of commerce in Europe aimed at boosting up economic exchange and investment potentials.

Speaking to the Quds Press, Deputy Head of the Forum, Mohamed Ghazal, urged the Palestinian businessmen in Europe to pool resources and assume their responsibilities as regards the Palestinian cause.

“Any attempt to end the Israeli occupation depends on how far we are willing to go in endeavors to sever all economic ties and cease all forms of subordination to such an entity,” Ghazal said.

“In view of that, we call on Palestinian entrepreneurs in Europe to back the Palestine investment fund established in 2013 with a capital of five million U.S. dollars,” he added.

Some 1,500 investors and economy experts, from over 25 nationalities, are members of the Palestine Business Forum, a non-governmental organization aimed at propping up trade exchange on multi-national grounds.

Erdogan: Turkey shall forever stand up for Palestinians’ rights

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated in a written speech dispatched to the 13th Palestinians in Europe Conference, held on Saturday in the German Capital Berlin, Turkey’s undeviating back-up of the Palestinian cause.

Erdogan hailed Palestinians’ steadfastness throughout their national liberation struggle, saying Turkey will always make every possible effort to support the Palestinian resistance in its legitimate fight against the Israeli occupation.

He acclaimed recent recognitions of Palestinian statehood by a number of world parliaments, dubbing them steps in the right direction and key-moves to restore Palestinians’ inalienable rights.

Meanwhile, the speech of the Palestinian ambassador to Berlin, Khouloud Daibes, delivered on her behalf by one of the ambassador’s representatives after she unexpectedly didn't go on stage, drew boos among the attendants.

The conference-goers interrupted the speech in protest at the Palestinian Authority’s dragging of its feet vis-à-vis the tragedy rocking Palestinian refugees at the Yarmouk camp in war-tattered Syria, saying they have just become sick of such a silence over the agonies inflicted on Palestinian refugees and diaspora.

Haneyya: Positive signs regarding relations with Egypt and Saudi Arabia
Picture
Ismail Haneyya, deputy head of Hamas's political bureau, said that Hamas received many "positive signs" from Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

He added in an interview with Anadolu news agency Friday evening that: "Hamas is keen on establishing open relations with the Arab countries, proceeding from opening-up strategy, and to guarantee the Islamic and Arab support of the Palestinian people and their resistance. We welcome any positive movement to strengthen the relations with Egypt and Saudi Arabia."

As for the relations with Egypt, the senior Hamas official Salah Bardawil said in an interview with Anadolu on Thursday: "Positive talks have been held lately between Mousa Abu Marzouk, member of Hamas political bureau, and Egyptian officials (without mentioning their names) in Cairo, regarding halting the Egyptian media incitement against Hamas and the resistance as well as easing the Egyptian siege on Gaza."

Hamas-Egypt relations deteriorated after the ouster of the freely elected president Mohamed Morsi on July 3, 2013, as the Egyptian media accused Hamas of standing behind terrorist attacks in Sinai, a claim which Hamas strongly denied.

The Egyptian authorities have tightened up its security measures on its borders with Gaza, including destroying underground tunnels along the Egyptian-Gazan borders and closing Rafah crossing and only opening it for humanitarian cases.

On February 28, the Egyptian court issued a preliminary ruling labeling Hamas a "terrorist organization", a verdict that the Palestinian factions strongly condemned.

However, the Egyptian government on March 11 appealed against the verdict and the Egyptian lawyer withdrew his lawsuit against Hamas.

Egypt is the main mediator in the Palestinian-Israeli truce talks which stopped an Israeli aggression on the Strip that lasted for 51 days, Egypt is also considered to be the main sponsor of the Palestinian reconciliation file and it hosted in October the Gaza reconstruction conference.

Haneyya also stressed that Hamas's relations with Iran were not affected by the Movement's position of the Saudi-led operation "Decisive Storm" in Yemen.

"Hamas's position was in harmony with the Movement's principles regarding the area's unity, and Hamas backs national dialogue to solve problems." Haneyya said, adding: "We are keen on maintaining good relations with Iran and we don't think that they were affected by Hamas's stance on the Yemeni crisis."

Commenting on "Decisive Storm" operation in Yemen, Hamas has announced earlier this month its full backing to the political legitimacy in Yemen which implied its support of the Saudi-led operation against the Houthis who are supported by Iran.

The relations between Hamas and Iran deteriorated due to Hamas's position towards the Syrian crisis and its rejection to support Bashar al-Assad.

The Hamas leader said that the ceasefire agreement, which was signed in Cairo, stated many demands and conditions that Israel must fulfill including lifting the siege, allowing reconstruction of the Strip, opening all crossings, and re-establishing Gaza airport and seaport. He also called on the Egyptian authorities to pressure Israel into implementing what has been agreed upon.

Lieberman slams South Africa after Israel denies minister visa
Picture
Foreign minister lashes out at South African Communist Party for 'hypocritical' statements against Israel following its refusal to grant education minister visa to visit Palestinian territories.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman slammed the South African Communist Party on Friday after it criticized the Israel government for denying a South African minister a visa to travel to the Palestinian territories.

Lieberman said that the statements made by the South African party were "hypocritical", given a number of recent events against foreigners in South Africa which he described as "racist".

Following Israel's refusal to grant the South African Minister of Higher Education and Training Blade Nzimande a visa to enter the Palestinian territories, the South African Communist Party issued a statement in which it said it "condemns in strongest terms possible, the apartheid Israeli regime`s decision."

The party further said that "The reason given for refusal to grant Cde Nzimande the visa is that he 'had criticized the Israeli government'. As the SACP we will not allow any foreign government to decide for us what to think, say and do.

"The despotic decision by the Israeli government is a declaration of diplomatic aggression on our government…The SACP calls on our government to reciprocate and reject Israeli requests for visits to South Africa." The party added that it intends to "further intensify its campaign of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel."

Following the announcement made by the South African party, Lieberman said: "It was only a few days ago when a violent, racist and harsh attack was directed against immigrants in Johannesburg…during these riots, the South African police fired rubber bullets and stun grenades against other immigrants from neighboring African countries. We all remember the mass killings carried out by the South African police at the Platinum Mine three years ago."

"These events and others have proven repeatedly that South Africa has remained a country where there are serious problems of racism and violence. "Therefore," he added, "the South African government and the Communist Party should stop preaching and attacking Israel, which is a glorious democracy that exceptionally handles threats and terrorist elements while maintaining human rights and international codes of conduct."

"It is no surprise that the members of the Communist Party prefer the Palestinians to Israel," the foreign minister stated, calling it "a case of like attracts like."

Seven people have died this month in anti-immigrant violence in South Africa that has mainly targeted migrants from other African nations, according to South African officials. After two weeks of turmoil in specific areas of Johannesburg and Durban, the unrest has declined.

More than 100 humanitarian groups have urged the African Union's human rights body to ensure that South Africa take "concrete steps" to prevent further attacks on immigrants.

The group of organizations asked the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights to appeal to the South African government to protect foreigners living in the country. In the wake of the violence, a few thousand migrants have chosen to return home.

"The solution to the violence should not be to repatriate all foreign nationals, but to ensure an environment in the country in which their rights are protected," said an open letter signed by 129 groups that represent organizations from a number of African countries. They also urged South Africa to set up special courts to deal with the cases of attacks against immigrants and foreign-owned shops.

Israel bars South African minister's visit to Palestine
Picture
Palestinian People's Party condemned Israel for barring Blade Nzimande, the secretary-general of the communist party and the Minister for Higher Education in South Africa, from visiting Palestine, the visit was scheduled to take place from 25 until 28 April.

The People's Party said in a press release on Friday: "Preventing the minister's visit is a racist measure which reflects the nature of the Israeli occupation; it also reflects the Israeli aggressive reaction against the international solidarity with the Palestinian cause."

The party also considered this arbitrary measure as an attempt to take revenge of the communist party in South Africa and its secretary-general, Comrade Blade Nzimande, for his bold position in defending the Palestinian cause.

It said that the step also posed as a retaliatory message from Israel to South Africa for its policy and positions in support of the Palestinian cause and people.

13th Palestinians in Europe Conference to kick off in Berlin
Picture
The 13th Palestinians in Europe Conference is set to kick off Saturday, April 25, in the German capital Berlin.

Arab, Palestinian, and international delegations, from different corners of the world, are expected to join the conference.

Chairman of the conference, Majed al-Zeir said the planning committee has finalized all necessary arrangements, dubbing the conference “a wedding for all Palestinian, Arab, and International supporters of Palestine and freedom.”

Over 10,000 Palestinians, living across the European continent, are set to participate in the conference, in a move aimed at reinforcing their deep-rooted commitment to their right of return and their motherland whatever the challenges.

Prominent figures are also expected to join the event, namely the Moroccan Minister of Justice, Chairman of Turkey’s Justice and Development Party, Palestine’s Ambassador to Germany, and Secretary General of the Palestine National Initiative, along with European parliamentarians.

A variety of activities are to be performed during the conference, including workshops on the situation of Palestinian refugees in Syria and folkloric exhibitions.

The event was met with strong criticism on the part of pro-Israel media. However, Germany-based Jewish groups and pro-Palestine parties fired back at the protesting voices and expressed strong back-up of the conference.

The Conference of Palestinians in Europe, which takes place annually in different European cities, started in London in 2003 at the invitation of the Palestinian Return Center. Several Arab and European pro-Palestine officials have made an appearance in the conference ever since.

Israel 67 Years of Occupation!
Picture
Israel 67 years! Celebrate Yom Haatzmaout by offering pizzas to the IDF soldiers and sending baskets of gifts to the IDF in Jerusalem Thursday – April 23 1015 – I received an e-mail from a zionist association based in Paris – EU.  The sender asked for financial donation and gifts to the Israeli war  criminal soldiers.

They begged me to send a basket of gifts, Pizza and money to make the Israeli war criminals happy on the 67 anniversary of the creation of Israel in 1984 on the ruins of the PalestinIan homes and cities. What means that I have to celebrate the 67 anniversary of the Palestinian catastrophe and Nakba together with the zionist occupier.

I sent an answer to the e-mail,  in which I suggested that everybody should send a basket of dirt, shit and garbage and bottles of urine to the Israel soldiers on the anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba and occupying my homeland.

I made this suggestion because I documented the sick behaviour of the Israeli soldiers in 1999-2000 in the film “Hebron: City Without Mercy”.

The film shows the IDF soldiers urinating in bottles and offering this to Palestinians to drink as “Coke”. The Israeli soldiers where calling each others on the roofs of Palestinians houses at the mid of night, one of them said that he want to do something great and urged his colleagues to pay attention. Then the he proceeded to urinate into the water tank of the family who owned the house.

In my opinion – the establishment of Israel had no legitimacy, and its recognition as a state on part of the international community was a grave mistake and crime against humanity made possible by massive bribes of those involved from part of the financiers of Zionism of those days, most prominently the Rothschild crime family. Now is a better time than ever to end the illegitimate, criminal and morally bankrupt zionist project for ever, together with its occupation of our holy land.

The legitimacy of the UN and international law depends upon the delegitimisation and dismantling, by the international community as represented in the organizations of the UN, of the zionist crime which is Israel. The continued existence of this criminal and terrorist organization is a danger not only to Palestinians and to the fragile edifice of international law, but to the welfare of all peoples of the world.
Below a screen-shot of the e-mail followed with translation and a copy of my answer.

I want to send the israeli war criminals who you called in your e-mail “young soldiers” a basket of shit and several bottles of urine as the only gifts which they deserved.

The IDF soldiers forced the Palestinian victims to drink their urine while standing on the rooftops of their houses in Hebron and occupying my homeland Palestine.

Shame on you to beg the victims of the war criminals to donate baskets of food and Pizza and solidarity with the israeli crimes against humanity,  war crimes, genocide and ethnic cleansing.

I suggest that everybody send bottles of urine and baskets of shit for your soldiers in order to remind them with their devil crimes and the trauma which they caused to the Palestinian children since decades.

Israel Denies Entry Visas To SA Education Minister, Leftist Leader, And Officials
Picture
The South African Communist Party (SACP) issued a statement strongly condemning the Israeli decision to deny entry visas to South Africa’s Minister of Higher Education and Training, South African Communist Party Secretary General, Cde Blade Nzmande, along with his team of officials.

“The South African Communist Party (SACP) is appalled by, and condemns in strongest terms possible, the apartheid Israeli regime's decision to deny our Minister of Higher Education and Training and SACP General Secretary Cde Blade Nzmande and his team of officials with an entry visa into Palestine, “the SACP said in a statement.

The SACP stated that Nzmande was officially invited by his Palestinian counterpart, Dr. Khawla Shakhsheer, to visit Palestine from 25-29 April 2015.

The South African Department of Higher Education and Training, said the visit follows a visit by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in 2014, in which an agreement between South Africa and Palestine was singed.

The “justification” Israel provided for denied visas was because the South African Minister “criticized the Israeli government.”

“The SCAP said it will not allow any foreign government to decide for us what to think, say and do,” the SCAP said, “South Africans should take their cue and defend our inalienable right to freedom of speech and international solidarity with the oppressed people in any part of the world.”

In its statement, the SCAP said it will intensify its Boycott, Divestment and Sanction against Israel until it full withdrawal from the occupied Palestinian territories, and until the Palestinians have their own independent and sovereign state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

It also called for denying access to any Israeli official into South Africa until Tel Aviv ends its apartheid and occupation of Palestine.

On his part, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh al-Maliki strongly denounced the Israeli decision, and said that “Israel is sending a clear racist message to all officials convening in the Asian-African Summit by denying the South African officials access to Palestine.”

He added that the visit was planned to be held between April 25 and 28, after South Africa and Palestine signed the bilateral education agreement during a visit by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the country in November of 2014.

Several South African factions and groups issued strong condemnation of the “Israeli arrogance, and its ongoing violations of International law,” and demanded the international community to treat with Israel the same way it dealt with the racist apartheid regime that once ruled South Africa.

The factions said “Israel’s occupation of Palestine must be identified as it is; a racist occupation that must be ended because its continuation is a continuation of ethnic cleansing, and ongoing crimes against the Palestinians and their land.”

Mishaal: Birzeit University elections national pride
Picture
Head of Hamas political bureau Khaled Mishaal said “the result of the Birzeit University elections is a national pride”. He also called on Palestinians to keep united in order to get rid of the Israeli occupation.

In a brief speech on Thursday in the celebration of the Islamic bloc’s winning in the elections, Mishaal called on the winner bloc to act based on national duties and public responsibility. He then urged them to serve all the students.

Mishaal pointed out that the elections constitute the first step toward achieving the national project of liberating Palestine and ending Judaization and settlement.

Hamas: Birzeit student elections proof of Hamas prominence in WB
Picture
The Palestinian resistance faction Hamas expressed satisfaction following the victory of the Islamic bloc at the Birzeit university on Wednesday.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the results are a big victory for the Palestinian resistance, adding that this reflects the strength of Hamas despite all the ad hominem campaigns aimed at uprooting the Movement from the West Bank.

For his part, Hamas spokesman abroad Hosam Badran said such a sweeping victory proves Palestinians’ unyielding back up of armed resistance and that Hamas remains closer to the outlooks and aspirations of the Palestinian citizen despite the oppression and arbitrary abduction-campaigns launched by the Israeli occupation and the Palestinian Authority (PA) against the group’s leaders and affiliates.

He said such a setback endured by Fatah is an implicit message to the party and the PA to redress their choices and political approaches which do not live up to the aspirations of the Palestinian people.

On Wednesday the Islamic Bloc at the Birzeit University won 26 of the 51 student council seats.

The Fatah-affiliated list garnered 19 seats, the Democratic Pole 5 and the Birzeit Student Coalition 1 seat.

In numbers Hamas received 3,400 votes, Fatah 2,545, Democratic Pole 695 and left-wing alliance 147.

Right before the elections, Fatah leaders said the results of the race would be a real reflection of Palestinians’ real will and the overall political disposition in the West Bank.

New UNESCO Motions Against Israeli Violations in Palestine
Picture
UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, on Tuesday received two motions strongly condemning Israeli occupation's humanitarian and legal violations in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.

The first motion denounced Israel's discriminatory policy in Jerusalem, especially at Al Aqsa Mosque, the the first Qiblah and the third holiest place in Islam. The violations were represented by settler attacks on the mosque, with the support of the Israeli police and military, in addition to the ongoing Judaization projects and excavations in the old city of Jerusalem.

These acts threaten to damage the the heritage of the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, which have been included on the World Heritage list by Jordan since 1981, and Heritage in Danger in 1982.

The second motion demanded that Israel lift the blockade on Gaza, and condemned the murder of more than 550 children during its last offensive in the summer of 2014.

The motions were unfavored by three members of the UNESCO, which are the US, Germany and Czech Republic, while 20 country members abstained from the vote.

PA Pays Off Last of Public Sector Salaries
Picture
The Palestinian Authority, Tuesday, declared that it was able to pay the remainder of civil servants’ wages and pensions for the past four months (40% each), hours after Israel released some 1.85 billion shekels ($473 million) in withheld taxes collected on behalf of the Palestinians.

Last Thursday, Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said that Israel had agreed to repay withheld Palestinian tax revenues in their entirety.

A few days later, according to WAFA, Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein al-Sheikh told reporters that Israel will be transferring withheld Palestinian tax revenues on Sunday or Monday, at the latest.

Earlier this month, President Mahmoud Abbas refused to receive tax revenues collected by Israel, after the latter had made considerable deductions to offset electricity debts accumulated on the PA.

“We didn't accept the amount and sent it back: we told them that we either compel arbitration regarding these funds that they label as debts, or take the matter to the International Criminal Court [ICC],” Abbas said.

Up until the beginning of this month, public sector employees only received 60% of their salaries for December 2014, January, February and March 2015, and the remainder (160%) was left a debt on the government’s treasury.

On January 4, Israel decided to withhold PA’s tax revenues, in retaliation for Abbas’ move which resulted in Palestine’s accession to 20 international treaties, including the International Criminal court (ICC).

Abbas’ move came as the United Nations failed to approve a draft bill calling for an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the Palestinian state within three years.

Hamas hails its affiliated student bloc’s victory

Hamas Movement considered in a statement issued Tuesday evening the victory of the Islamic bloc in Polytechnic University student council elections as a victory for the resistance option.

The Movement hailed the Islamic bloc’s big win at the elections in Polytechnic University that proves the students’ support for and adherence to the resistance option and national constants.

The group expressed its gratitude to the students for electing and trusting its student bloc.

The statement also hailed the Polytechnic University administration for holding the student elections amid a democratic, positive atmosphere.

For her part, MP Samira Halaiqa said that the Islamic bloc’s victory shows the popular support for resistance path in challenge to the PA repression policy and Israeli targeting of the Islamic bloc’s members.

The Islamic bloc has managed to attract students despite of the arbitrary measures undertaken by the PA against its student activists over the past seven years, she added.

Speaking to the PIC reporter, MP Halaiqa stated that the bloc’s victory came as a result of tight security measures on the part of the PA security apparatus and Israel as well.

The Islamic bloc, Hamas's student wing, won 15 out of 31 seats in the Polytechnic University Student Council elections held on Wednesday 21, 2015 compared to 13 seats last year.

Competing Fatah Youth Organization Bloc got 15 seats, losing two seats compared to last year's results. One seat was won by the leftist student bloc.

Hamas denied allegations propagated by the local Sama news agency on a long-term truce accord signed with the Israeli occupation.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a press statement: “The pieces of information broadcast by the Sama news agency are mere allegations.”

He called on the news agency to cease such “shameful and dishonest” practices.

The Sama agency claimed at noontime on Tuesday that a ceasefire deal between Hamas and the Israeli occupation authority has been underway and will be announced sometime soon, claiming a surprise is to unfold in the region soon.

Hamas: Action, not words, required to boost reconciliation

Political bureau member of Hamas, Sami Khater, has denied claims that the group has come up with alternative scenarios to heal the internal rift other than those opted for in earlier reconciliation agreements with Fatah movement.

National reconciliation does not require new talks; rather a commitment to what has been agreed upon between the two parties, Khater told the Quds Press on Tuesday.

He pointed out the promising atmosphere that has prevailed in the wake of a decision issued by the PLO Central Council pledging an implementation of the reconciliation accord.

“But such optimism has remained largely dependent on the sincerity of the government’s commitment to put all reconciliation bonds into effect,” he said.

He expressed disappointment over the ministers’ latest stopover in Gaza and the lack of serious commitment to latest pledges as regards the crisis of Gaza’s unpaid civil servants.

He said Hamas is not, by any means, responsible for the failure of the government representatives to address current crises.

He reiterated Hamas’s devotion to its principles and key-tenets, saying: “True the Palestinian resistance goes through hard and good times. Such has been the nature of its adopted path across history. Yet it has always done well.”

Khater further stressed Hamas’s commitment to the union of the Palestinian people and land.

A delegation of Palestinian ministers and senior officials from the West Bank-based national consensus government arrived in Gaza on Sunday in a bid to tackle a thorny dispute over employees, among other outstanding files.

The delegation comprises 30 Palestinian prominent figures, including eight government ministers and their undersecretaries.

Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah called on the ministers, right before they headed to the Gaza Strip, to work seriously on the unresolved issues, particularly the salary crisis.

Hamas, in the meantime, called on the unity government to show sincere commitment to the agreements concluded between the two parties as regards the files of Gaza’s unpaid civil servants and the management of border-crossings.

The group’s spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri urged the government to cease its discriminatory policies and treat Palestinian employees on equitable grounds.

Earlier, the cabinet of ministers pledged during his last Tuesday session an urgent stopover in Gaza as part of ongoing intents to boost up national reconciliation.
