Senior Hamas leader Osama Hamdan slammed the Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on alleged charges condemning Hamas for bombing Fatah officials’ homes in Gaza, dubbing Abbas’s claims “indecent” allegations and signs of “insanity”.
Talking in an exclusive interview with the Palestinian Information Center (PIC), Hamdan condemned Abbas’s allegations as proofs of a tacit attempt to renege on the terms of the unity deal.
Hamdan voiced disappointment with Abbas’s apathy vis-à-vis Israel’s mounting Judaization schemes and sacrilegious assaults against the Palestinian people and Muslims’ sanctuaries in Occupied Jerusalem.
“I believe Abbas got the wrong end of the stick regarding Hamas’s positions,” he declares. “Everybody thinks that the real power and vigor of the movement has been brought to surface in the latest Israeli offensive on Gaza. However, Abbas is misreading such a position as a sign of weakness.”
He slammed Abbas’s prototypical dictatorship and despotism coming out into view each and every time Hamas voices an opinion that stands at variance with his own.
“Abbas often ends up misinterpreting divergences of stances as proofs of reluctance and steps up pressure on Hamas . . . . Such a totalitarian spirit does not live up to Palestine’s revolutionary and anti-occupation project.”
“Abbas’s backbiting has been a real shock to all Palestinians alike,” he confirmed, saying Abbas would have better plucked up his courage and referred to the internal Fatah rift between the pro-Abbas and the Pro-Dahlan rivals.
“Why has Abbas remained mum regarding such an affair? Why holding Hamas accountable?” he wonders, adding: “Abbas knows very well that Hamas has done its best to boost reconciliation.”
He said Abbas would better launch a probe into the latest bombings and stop lashing out at Hamas.
Hamdan reiterated Hamas’s commitment to healing the internal rift and working on impeaching the blast perpetrators.

Senior Hamas leader Dr. Mahmoud Zahhar has called for the need to revamp the strategic and military ordnance of the Palestinian resistance and “lay a bet on” the West Bank-based resistance's creative methods.
Addressing the audience during a meeting with Palestinian notables and figures in Khan Younis on Saturday afternoon, member of the political bureau of Hamas Mahmoud Zahhar called for building up the resistance’s stocks to face up to the Israeli occupation everywhere in the Palestinian territories, vowing: “This is our mission. We will never let you down.”
Zahhar reiterated Hamas’s commitment to lift the Gaza siege, declaring: “We have our means to hurt the Israeli occupation.”
The Hamas leader said the resistance tunnels struck a heavy blow at Israel’s national security strategy.
Zahhar re-stated Hamas’s firm rejection of all Israeli attempts seeking to establish a buffer zone along the Gaza borders.
He slammed the PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas for having broken his promises on the Palestinian reconciliation process and stepping up backbiting against Hamas, in reference to Abbas’s recent allegations on Gaza blasts.
He attributed the latest bombings to the internal rift between the pro-Dahlan and pro-Abbas Fatah rivals, adding that an investigation committee will probe the bombing affair.
The Hamas leader further denounced the PA security coordination with the Israeli occupation in the West Bank.

Spain and France are expected to join the UK and Sweden in holding votes to recognize Palestinian statehood.
French lawmakers are expected to vote on 28 November on a proposal to recognize Palestine as a state, a parliamentary source told AFP on Sunday.
The non-binding, but highly symbolic vote, was proposed by the ruling Socialist party, and follows a similar resolution by the British parliament and an official decision to recognize Palestine by the Swedish government.
A draft of the new bid states that the lower house National Assembly "invites the French government to use the recognition of the state of Palestine as an instrument to gain a definitive resolution of the conflict".
Spain's parliament has also outlined a draft resolution to hold a symbolic vote in favor of Palestinian state on 18 November. The proposal was devised by Spain's socialist opposition party.
European leaders have shown signs of mounting impatience with Israel over its continued illegal settlement-building in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Anti-Israel criticism has turned sharper in the wake of the 51-day Israeli offensive on Gaza, murdering some 2,100 Palestinians and leaving at least 11,000 others injured.

Tunisia’s president Mohamed Moncef el-Marzouki on Saturday hailed the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, saying any projected meeting with the group’s leader Khaled Mishaal is a real honor.
Addressing a large audience in the southern Tunisian city of Sfax, el-Marzouki, a candidate for Tunisia’s upcoming presidential elections, said in an ironic tone: “I hope that people would not charge me with terrorism for dealing with Hamas.”
“I would like to make it clear that it is a real honor for me to receive Mishaal, Hamas, and the Gaza-based Palestinian resistance,” he firmly added.

Dr. Hanna Issa, Secretary General of the Islamic Christian Committee to
support al-Aqsa and the holy sites of Jerusalem, spoke out on Wednesday
against Israeli’s arbitrary house demolitions in Occupied Jerusalem,
dubbing the policy as one that is tantamount to ethnic cleansing and
collective punishment.
Referring to official data on Israel’s demolition operations, Hanna said 517 Palestinian homes were razed to the ground since the start of 2004 until July 2014, 59 among whom were forcibly demolished by their own owners.
“Such an ongoing demolition policy adopted by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian civilians across the Israeli-run areas makes part of a strategic plan aimed to holding sway over the local land tracts,” he charged.
Issa said at least 2028 Jerusalemites have gone homeless in Eastern Jerusalem during the same aforementioned period.
Issa, an expert in international law, slammed Netanyahu’s latest incitements to violence and house demolitions as a malevolent tactic seeking to dislocate Palestinians from their own motherland, which represents a bare-faced infringement of Article 53 of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and Article 17 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights stipulating that “no one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his/her property.”
He further raised alarm bells over the 1108 Palestinian minors who have gone homeless and have been forced to wander down and out on the streets after they have become without a roof over their heads due to such policy.
According to official data, at least 988 Palestinian homes were either partially or totally destroyed by the Israeli occupation authorities in Eastern Jerusalem between 1999 and 2014.
He warned of Israel’s exploitation of the security pretext and alleged charges of unlicensed construction among, many other flimsy excuses, to perpetrate its devised schemes of ethnic cleansing, settlement expansion, and Judaization strategies.
Issa also warned of Israel’s breach of the poli-demographic terms mapped by the international law, which considers Eastern Jerusalem as part and parcel of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.
He spoke out against Israel’s attempts to evacuate Jerusalem of its idiosyncratic Palestinian character and spread out illegal settlement at the expense of Palestinians’ own and only native lands.

The European Union's foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini, who recently took over from Catherine Ashton as the top EU diplomat, raised alarm bells over the exacerbated humanitarian crisis in Gaza during a visit to the Strip on Saturday.
The EU official appealed for the establishment of a Palestinian state, saying the world "cannot afford" another war in Gaza.
"We need a Palestinian state - that is the ultimate goal and this is the position of all the European Union," Mogherini said during a visit to Gaza, devastated by the latest Israeli offensive.
Mogherini dropped in on a UN-run school sheltering Palestinians, whose houses were destroyed during the recent offensive.
Her statement came against a backdrop of soaring Israeli-Palestinian tensions in occupied East Jerusalem, where there have been near-daily clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in flash-point neighborhoods in recent weeks.
"It is not only the people of Gaza that can't afford having a fourth war, all the world cannot afford this," she said.
"We cannot just sit and wait. If we sit and wait it will go on for another 40 years. We have to have action now," said Mogherini, a former Italian foreign minister.
She further stressed that her first visit to Gaza is a humanitarian mission, calling for lifting the siege and reconstructing the Strip before it is too late.
Mogherini pushed for the implementation of the terms of the Cairo-brokered truce accord, vowing the block will do whatever it takes to stand by the Gaza Strip by every means available.

During its weekly meeting, the Palestinian unity government said Tuesday that the Israeli occupation’s authorities aim to drag the region to wider conflict through stepping up settlement schemes, escalating daily attacks against Jerusalemites and al-Aqsa Mosque.
The council of ministers said that the IOA is solely responsible for the assassination attempt of the extremist rabbi Yehuda Glick.
The heroic steadfastness of the Palestinian people in occupied Jerusalem, the firm position of the Palestinian leadership, and the Jordanian pressures would certainly foil Israel’s Judaization and settlement schemes, the council’s statement said.
The council called upon the Arab and Islamic Nation, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Conference to bear their responsibilities in defense of al-Aqsa Mosque in light of Israel’s growing territorial ambitions.
Netanyahu’s call for calm is misleading, as it is followed by his decision to approve 500 new housing units in Ramat Shlomo settlement neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, the statement added.
The statement also pointed out that the IOA allowed the right-wing Knesset member Moshe Feiglin and several Jewish settlers to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque.
The council strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of the ex-detainee Mutaz Hijazi by Israeli special forces in his home in occupied Jerusalem.
In another context, the statement pointed to Israeli continued and escalated violations against Palestinian prisoners and detainees, calling upon the international community to intervene immediately and demand their release especially sick prisoners, administrative detainees, the detained minors, and those who were detained before Oslo accords.

Ezzet al-Resheq, member of the political bureau of Hamas, has said that the Palestinian Authority should give up the illusion of any possible success for negotiations with Israel.
Resheq said in a statement posted on his Facebook page at dawn Wednesday that the negotiations did not liberate an inch of occupied Palestinian land.
Negotiations never brought peace and security for the Palestinian people or their holy sites, he added.
Resheq also asked the PA to loosen its security grip over the Palestinian people in the West Bank and allow escalation of anti-occupation protests.
He said in another statement that the PA should end its security coordination with the Israeli occupation and allow protest rallies in support of the Aqsa Mosque.
He said that bragging about the ability to block a new intifada is “shameful”.

France’s ruling Socialist Party is preparing to submit a motion calling for recognizing a Palestinian state to push forward efforts to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, parliamentary sources revealed.
The sources said Tuesday that French Socialist lawmakers are preparing to submit a motion to the parliament to officially recognize Palestine. The vote is expected to take place within two weeks.
"The (lower house National) Assembly asks the French government to use recognition of the state of Palestine as an instrument to obtain a final settlement of the conflict," reads the provisional motion.
France's foreign minister Laurent Fabius said earlier last month that Paris should recognize a Palestinian state only if doing so would help achieve peace, not as a symbolic gesture.
However, if negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel fail, Paris "would not shirk its responsibilities" but would recognize the Palestinian state, Fabius said in answer to a question in parliament.
"From the moment when we say that there are two states, there will be recognition of a Palestinian state. That goes without saying, it's logical," the minister said.
The planned move follows the collapse of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and this year's war on Gaza in which more than 2,000 Palestinians were killed.
The step came weeks after British MPs passed a similar motion.

Dr. Hanan Ashrawi
PLO Executive Committee member, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi asserts that “the British government bears the human, legal, political and moral responsibility to undo its serious mistakes of the past by recognizing the State of Palestine, and supporting current and future Palestinian multilateral initiatives of resorting to all venues of international judicial accountability for Israel and the protection for Palestine.”
“Ninety-seven years ago, the British government committed a grave historical injustice at the expense of the Palestinians by signing over their homeland to the Jewish people with the Balfour Declaration,” Ashrawi stated, in a recent press release issued by PLO Executive Committee Department of Culture and Information.
According to WAFA, she stressed that ‘decades have passed and the people of Palestine continue to be denied their basic human rights to justice and self-determination.’
"The people of Palestine can no longer afford to wait, as Israel succeeds with its extreme and escalating policies to Judaize Jerusalem and to ethnically cleanse it of its indigenous Muslim and Christian Palestinian residents, among other violations of international law," Dr. Ashrawi added.
“With Israel’s most recent actions of closing Al-Aqsa Mosque and preventing Muslim worshippers from accessing Al-Haram Al-Sharif, Israel is undertaking a supreme and dangerous provocation and inciting sectarian warfare in the region and beyond,” she further stated.
“Palestine is disappearing before our very own eyes; unless Britain, the European Union, the United Nations, and other members of the international community act immediately to hold Israel accountable, Israel will succeed in establishing ‘Greater Israel’ and in destroying the chances for a Palestinian state once and for all,” the release concluded.
