Al-‘Emla stated that the attack was carried out although there are a number of cases that are still under deliberation by Israeli courts, and no final ruling has been issued yet.
He added that Israel is targeting the Palestinian lands in the area in order to control them for military purposes, and for the construction and expansion of its illegal colonies.

Israeli bulldozers escorted by Israeli soldiers on Wednesday morning removed hundreds of olive trees on a vast tract of Palestinian-owned land in Iskaka village, east of Salfit province.

Israeli soldiers, on Wednesday, uprooted olive trees in the village of Deir Istiya, Salfit governorate, under the pretext of opening a road designated for the sole use of people residing in illegal West Bank settlements.
Head of Deir Istiya council, Sa’id Zaidan, informed WAFA correspondence that Israeli forces have begun uprooting olive trees to open a new settlers only road in the town.
He noted that town officials had contacted the Palestinian military liaison with Israel and informed them of this development.
According to the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), “The destruction of farmland, which is illegal under international law, is just one form of oppression that the Palestinian farmers are facing.”
According to the OCHA monthly report for June 2016, “The allocation of public land to settlements and the takeover of private land by settler groups have reduced the space available for Palestinians to sustain their livelihoods in an increasingly fragmented West Bank and have impacted on a range of human rights.”
“Combined with the unlawful and discriminatory zoning and planning policy applied in Area C and in East Jerusalem, these settlement-related phenomena have undermined the living conditions of Palestinians and rendered them increasingly vulnerable, including to the risk of individual or mass forcible transfer.”
The report stated, “The creation of new facts on the ground through demolitions and settlement building raises questions about whether Israel’s ultimate goal is, in fact, to drive Palestinians out of certain parts of the West Bank, thereby undermining any prospect of transition to a viable Palestinian state.”

The Environmental Quality Authority said on Monday that Israeli Occupation Forces torched 10 dunums of Palestinians’ agricultural lands planted with olive trees in al-Ramadein village in southern al-Khalil.
The Environmental Quality Authority in al-Khalil city pointed out that the lands torched by Israeli army soldiers belong to the al-Sawadeh Palestinian family in the village which is located within the Separation Wall.
The inhabitants of the village have to get Israeli permits in order to pick the olives every year, the authority added.
It said that the authority’s teams witnessed the effects of fire from a distance since they could not approach the place because of the Separation Wall.

The Israeli infrastructure projects of 24 settlements, illegally built on Palestinian-owned lands in Salfit, drain more agricultural lands of the city.
Eyewitnesses affirmed that Israeli bulldozers were seen leveling lands north of Saoukan town west of the city in favor of extending sewer lines of the settlements.
The local activist Khaled Maali said that Israeli infrastructure projects are an additional tool used to confiscate lands and uproot olive trees in the province.
These infrastructure projects are in total violation of the international laws and conventions that clearly prohibit any construction works in an occupied land.

A group of Israeli settlers set fire Thursday evening to dozens of dunums of Palestinian-owned agricultural lands planted with olive trees near the Qablan junction, south of Nablus, in the northern occupied West Bank.

Large parts of the surrounding area quickly caught fire due to the heat, causing dozens more olive and other trees to burn, the sources added.

Israeli settlers set fire Tuesday evening to dozens of olive trees in Palestinian agricultural land near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
A local agricultural committee affirmed that a group of settlers torched 100 acres planted with dozens of olive trees and wheat.
The attack came only ten days after a similar incident in the same area, the committee pointed out. 120 olive trees were completely burned during the attack.
Palestinian towns and villages in occupied West Bank are surrounded by Israeli settlements and outposts, many of which are protected by the Israeli military and have gained notoriety for being comprised of the most extremist settlers.
While Israeli forces will detain a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank for possessing a knife or gun, Israelis living in the same area are legally able to carry such weapons.
Rights groups have criticized Israel for implementing different legal systems for Palestinians and Israeli settlers living in the same area. Such practices, they say, protect the expansion of settlements while systematically eliminating the ability for Palestinians to move freely throughout their occupied territory.
