Soldiers Uproot 20 Dunams Of Agricultural Lands In Bethlehem
Picture
The Palestinian Agricultural Relief has reported, Thursday, that Israeli army bulldozers uprooted around 20 Dunams of Palestinian farmlands in the Wadi al-Hamra area, in Husan town, west of the West Bank city of Bethlehem.

It said the bulldozed and uprooted lands belong to several farmers from Husan and Nahhalin towns.

Secretary of the Husan Village Council Rami Hamamra said a large military force invaded the area, approximately at five at dawn, uprooted 20 Dunams planted with olive trees and grapevines.

Hamamra added that the lands belong to Mohammad Khalil Sabateen, in addition to three brothers identified as Nassim, Mohammad and Suleiman Thieb Sabateen.

He further stated that Israel is planning to establish a new illegal outpost that would be added to the Beitar Illit illegal settlement, built on Palestinian lands.

In addition, soldiers also closed the main roads leading to Husan and Nahhalin, and declared the area a closed military zone.

On Wednesday morning, Israeli settlers burned down 90 olive trees in Sarta town, in the central West Bank district of Salfit.

Settlers Torch 90 Olive Trees near Salfit
Picture
Israeli settlers, Wednesday morning, burned down 90 olive trees in Sarta town, near Salfit, in the southern occupied West Bank.

Eyewitnesses and farmers from the town said, according to the PNN, that Israeli occupation fire trucks and vehicles arrived to the scene, but did not interfere.

The witnesses added that fingers are pointing, again, toward Israeli settlers, since the town is annexed to the bypass road used regularly by settlers. It is also located between the two settlements of Brukin and Ariel.

Journalist and researcher Khaled Ma'ali said that the olive trees recently have been repeatedly targeted by settlers, causing the damage of thousands of trees in several areas.

Last month as well, Israeli settlers, most likely entering Salfit from the Immanuel settlement annexing Deir Istiya village, uprooted some 450 olive trees planted by Palestinian farmers.

On Sunday, settlers from Azfar and Bani Kadim, near Shyoukh village, East Hebron, uprooted or stole about 800 olive trees.

According to a report by the PLO international relations department, occupation forces and settlers cut down and destroyed more than 755 olive trees in the month of April alone.

During 2014, some 10,596 trees and seedlings were uprooted, with numbers still rising in 2015.

Settlers Destroy 250 Olive Trees in Hebron
Picture
Israeli settlers from the illegal settlement of Bat Ayin, northern Hebron area, set fire to an estimated 25 dunams of Palestinian land on Monday, destroying up to 250 olive trees, a local committee reported.

A spokesperson for the Beit Ummar popular committee, Muhammad Ayyad Awad, said that five Israeli settlers in white clothes between the ages of 16 and 20 had set fire to land in the Hilet Ikdeis north of Hebron.

Awad said, according to Ma'an News Agency, that the land was owned by Mahmoud Ali Abd al-Majid Hamdan, Naim Ahmad Abd al-Majid Hamdan, Muhammad Nour Abd al-Majid Hamdan and Wajih Ibrahim Abd al-Majid Hamdan.

Awad added that the land had been planted with olive trees, most of which were nearly 40 years old. He said that Israeli forces arrived on the scene, but alleged that they refused the landowners' demand that they call a firetruck to put out the fire.

The landowners said that they had been able to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas.

The fire comes a day after locals in al-Shiokh, northeast of Hebron, reported that 80 acres of land planted with hundreds of olive saplings had been vandalized by Jewish settlers from nearby illegal settlements.

Since 1967, approximately 800,000 olive trees have been uprooted by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank, according to a joint report by the Palestinian Authority and the Applied Research Institute Jerusalem.

Picture
A number of armed Israeli extremists invaded, on Sunday at dawn, Palestinian orchards in the Shiokh village, east of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and uprooted around 800 olive saplings.

Media sources in Hebron said the assailants stole the uprooted olive saplings, and fled to nearby colonies.

Ahmad al-Halayqa, a local media and social networking activist, said the extremists invaded orchards belonging to Mohammad, Abdul-Qader and Mousa Abu Shanab al-‘Ayayda, in the al-Wasli area, and uprooted the samplings.

Al-Halayqa stated this is the fourth consecutive attack against the same olive orchards, in an attempt to control the land and expand the illegal colonies, built on Palestinian lands.

Scores Injured as Bil’in Marks Palestinian Nakba
Picture
The Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements in Bil’in village, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, has reported that Israeli soldiers have attacked the weekly protest, firing dozens of gas bombs and rubber-coated metal bullets.

This week’s protest marks May 15, the Palestinian Nakba Day when Israel was established in the historic land of Palestine after massive expulsion of the indigenous population and the destruction of hundreds of villages and towns.

The Popular Committee said that locals, accompanied by Israeli and International peace activists, marched from the center of the village towards Palestinian orchards, isolated by the Wall and illegal Israeli colonies.

The protesters marched nonviolently, carrying Palestinian flags, and black flags commemorating the Nakba, chanted and sang for Palestinian unity, liberation, independence, and the Right of Return of all refugees.

They also chanted for th ongoing popular resistance against the Israeli occupation and its illegal colonies, and for the release of all political prisoners.

The soldiers intercepted the protest firing dozens of gas bombs and rubber-coated metal bullets, and invaded and western area of Bil’in.

They also chased the protesters through olive orchards, and in between homes in the village while firing more gas bombs, also targeting local homes with them.

Medical sources said that dozens of residents, Israeli and international peace activists, suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The gas bombs also set fire to a number of olive trees belonging to the villagers, while residents rushed to contain the fire.

Injuries Reported as Soldiers Attack Nil’in’s Weekly Protest
Picture
More than 1,200 Palestinians, accompanied by Israeli and international peace activists, marched in the weekly protest in Ni’lin village on Friday, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, marking the 67th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (May 15 1948). Five Palestinians were shot, and dozens more suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements in Ni’lin has reported that the protesters, including representatives of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), various other political factions, as well as representatives of National Committee of Commemorating the Nakba, the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine, the Right to Land Coalition, the Coordination Committee against the Wall, marched along with Israeli and international activist, starting at noon in the center of the village.

The Nakba Commemoration started in the village with a speech by the head of the Ni’lin Village Council, Nader al-Khawaja, who welcomed both Palestinians and activists, including those who came from different cities, towns and refugee camps across the occupied West Bank, and especially the villagers living close to illegal Israeli settlements.

Al-Khawaja saluted the residents of Ni’lin and their determination to continue their legitimate struggle against the apartheid wall and colonies which isolate them from their orchards.

He added that Ni’lin has been holding the ongoing protest against the wall and settlements for eight consecutive years, now, embracing their steadfastness and determination to defend their lands despite the ongoing Israeli violations and excessive use of force by the soldiers.

It is worth mentioning that the soldiers detained Palestinians coming from Hebron, Bethlehem and Salfit to participate in this week’s protest marking the Palestinian Nakba of 1948.

The Imam of Ni’lin said in a speech, following noon prayers in the center of the village, that Ni’lin and its ongoing nonviolent popular resistance, has become a symbol of the national struggle against the occupation, and a symbol for national unity.

He added that the Nakba of 1948 did not just happen and end, as it is ongoing, while refugees continue to suffer, and Palestinians continue to be targeted by Israel's illegal occupation and colonial settlements.

The imam called for national unity among all factions, among the Palestinian people, so that the struggle can continue until liberation and independence, and until achieving the Right of Return of all refugees.

The procession then took off from the southern area of the village heading towards the Annexation Wall and the settlements that were illegally built on Palestinian lands, while the residents chanted in demand of their legitimate Palestinian rights.

Israeli soldiers used excessive force against the protesters, firing rubber-coated metal bullets and dozens of gas bombs, wounding five Palestinians, while dozens suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation. The gas bombs also set fired to olive orchards and farmlands, the only source of livelihood for literally hundreds of villages.

The Popular Committee against the Wall in Ni’lin said that the soldiers installed roadblocks oat the entrances of the village over the past week, in an attempt to isolate it and prevent residents from reaching it to participate in the protest, and even installed surveillance cameras on the main road and main entrance of the village.

It added that dozens of soldiers were also deployed near the second roadblock, installed by the army near Palestinian orchards belonging to villages of Ni’lin and several nearby villages.

Extremist Jewish groups of settlers uprooted fruitful trees in Housan town in Bethlehem in the late evening hours on Tuesday.

Member of Housan town’s council Taha Hamamrah told Quds Press that the Jewish settlers coming from Beitar Illit settlement uprooted more than 20 olive and citrus fruitful trees which belong to two Palestinian families.

The trees are implanted in a land lot located inside the wall of the Israeli Beitar Illit outpost which was established by force on the town’s land, Hamamrah said.

The two Palestinian families own dozens of dunums inside the settlement. The settlers continuously destroy their plantings. Besides, the Israeli forces prevent the Palestinian owners from approaching their lands unless there is coordination with the Palestinian Authority Liaison Office for the issuance of Israeli permits.

The extremist Jewish settlers continue their aggressive practices of damaging lands and uprooting trees in the occupied West Bank under the protection of Israeli forces.

Soldiers Attack Bil’in’s Weekly Protest
Picture
Scores of protesters suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation, while many olive trees caught fire, after Israeli soldiers used excessive force against the weekly nonviolent protest against the Annexation Wall and settlements, in Bil’in village, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah.

The soldiers attacked the nonviolent Palestinian, Israeli and international peace activists as they marched from the center of the village, heading towards the Wall that isolates the villagers from their lands.

The protesters carried Palestinian flags and posters, and chanted against the ongoing Israeli violations targeting the Palestinian people and their lands.

The soldiers fired a barrage of gas bombs setting olive trees ablaze, mainly olive trees, belonging to residents Nasser Abu Rahma and Kayed Khalil Abu Rahma.

The Popular Committee Against the Wall in Bil’in said it is determined to continue the struggle until Israel ends its illegal occupation of Palestine.

In addition, the army kidnapped Mohammad Adib Abu Rahma, 19 years of age, while trying to travel to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage, for “participating in the weekly protests in Bil’in.” Abu Rahma was previously kidnapped, and imprisoned, twice.

Bil’in is a leading village in ongoing nonviolent Palestinian protest against Israel’s Annexation Wall and its illegal settlements, and is subject to frequent invasions, arrests and attacks by the Israeli army.
