Israeli Soldiers Kill A Palestinian Worker In Hebron
Picture
Rami Wahid Hasan Sabarna, 36

Israeli soldiers killed, Saturday, a Palestinian worker in Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, while he and other workers were conducting work for the Hebron City Council to rehabilitate and expand a road near the Ibrahimi Mosque.

The Health Ministry in Hebron said the soldiers fatally shot Rami Wahid Hasan Sabarna, 36, in Jaber neighborhood in the Old City, near the military roadblock leading to the Ibrahimi Mosque.

It added that the soldiers also stopped a Palestinian ambulance at the scene, and prevented the medics from approaching the Palestinian, before he bled to death.

An Israeli ambulance later arrived, before its medics placed Rami’s body in a black bag and took it away.

The army claimed that the Palestinian worker “attempted to ram the soldiers with his vehicle, before they shot him,” an allegation which was denied by eyewitnesses, who said the young man was just working, and did not attempt to attack the soldiers, or harm them in any way.

Aref Jaber, a local nonviolent activist against the Annexation Wall and Colonies, who lives near the area where the army killed the worker, said Sabarna was driving a small and loud bulldozer, and added that the worker passed by some soldiers who then started shouting at him an ordering him to stop.

“He did not pose any threat to them, he passed by them and could not hear their shouts and orders,” Aref said, “Then, they just opened fire at him and his bulldozer, seriously wounded him, before removing him from his vehicle and left him to bleed on the ground. When Red Crescent medics arrived, the soldiers prevented them from providing Sabarna with the urgently needed treatment, and he bled to death, before the soldiers placed his corpse in a black plastic bag and took him away.” video

The soldiers also removed media outlets from the area, and prevented the journalist from performing their duties.

Picture
Israeli soldiers attacked, Friday, many Palestinians, who were trying to enter Jerusalem for Friday prayers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied Jerusalem, and injured many of them, including a journalist. The soldiers also abducted a young man near Jenin, in northern West bank.

The soldiers attacked the Palestinians in Wad Abu al-Hummus area, near al-Khass and an-No’man villages, east of Bethlehem, and prevented them from entering Jerusalem.

Media sources in Bethlehem said the soldiers fired many gas bombs and concussion grenades, causing many Palestinians to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.

They added that the soldiers also shot a journalist, identified as Safiyya Omar, with a concussion grenade in her back.

The journalist, who works for Baladna Radio, and the Palestinians who suffered the effects of teargas inhalation, received treatment by local medics.

Furthermore, the soldiers invaded Kafr Dan town, west of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, searched homes and abducted a young man, identified as Mohammad Marwan Mer’ey.

Dozens of Palestinians kidnapped in predawn sweep by Israel army
Picture
Journalist Mus’ab Qufeisheh

Several Palestinians, among them ex-prisoners, were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in a predawn sweep rocking West Bank provinces.

Reporting from al-Khalil province, a PIC news correspondent said the Israeli military rolled into al-Seir area and kidnapped the two ex-prisoners Zaid al-Qawasmi and Malek Abu Eisheh.

Ex-prisoner and political analyst Hesham al-Sharbati was kidnapped by the IOF from his family home in Qarn al-Thawr, in al-Khalil.

The occupation forces further stormed residential neighborhoods in al-Khalil before they kidnapped at least nine Palestinian ex-prisoners, among them the head of the Palestine Prisoners Center for Studies, Osama Shaheen.

Journalist Mus’ab Qufeisheh was kidnapped by the IOF from his family home southwest of al-Khalil province.

Overnight, a flock of Israeli warplanes kept hovering over al-Khalil’s eastern villages, sparking panic in the area.

At the same time, clashes burst out in Nablus province after the IOF broke into the “popular housing” neighborhood and ravaged a Palestinian’s family home.

The campaign culminated in the abduction of two Palestinians from Jenin, where civilians have also had their homes ransacked by the Israeli military.

Head of rights center kidnapped by Israeli soldiers from home
Picture
The Israeli occupation forces at daybreak Thursday kidnapped the Palestinian activist Osama Shaheen, 35, from his home in al-Khalil’s southern town of Dura, in the southern occupied West Bank.

According to the Palestine Prisoners Center for Studies, Israeli forces broke into the home of journalist Osama Shaheen, also the center’s head, and wreaked havoc on the building before they kidnapped him.

Shaheen was released from Israeli jails just nine months ago after he had served a one-year administrative detention sentence, issued with neither charge nor trial.

The center condemned Israel’s abduction of Saheen without explicable reasons, attributing it to the man’s activism in favor of the prisoners’ cause.

Shaheen has been diagnosed with critical health problems and suffers severe backaches as a result of a cartilage infecting his body. He was expected to undergo a surgery prior to his abduction.

Shaheen had been subjected to arrest and detention by the occupation forces on seven occasions and spent a total of nine years in Israeli jails.

The Palestine Prisoners Center for Studies appealed to all human rights institutions to take urgent action so as to release Shaheen, along with other Palestinian activists and journalists, held arbitrarily in Israeli dungeons.

Journalists Condemn Bill Criminalizing Photography of Soldiers
Picture
The Palestinian Journalist Syndicate (PCJ) released a statement on Saturday condemning the proposal of a new bill in the Israeli Knesset that would criminalize the photographing or recording of Israeli soldiers while on duty.

The bill was proposed on Thursday, with the support of right-wing Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, and, if passed, those found in violation of the law could face a prison sentence of up to five years.

The PCJ called the proposed bill “racist,” saying that it “severely attacks the profession of the press and legitimizes the criminal practices committed by the Israeli occupation army against the Palestinian people.”

The group said, according to Ma’an, that the law would “grant legitimacy to the Israeli occupation to commit more crimes,” and is an attempt by the Israeli government to “escape punishment and international justice.”

“The core of the law is to mislead justice and provide a formal cover for further crimes,” the group said.

In the statement, the group called on the United Nations (UN) and other international institutions “concerned with the freedom of press work to express their opinion and exert pressure on the occupying entity to comply with its laws in accordance with international laws and conventions, and to protect the freedom of press work and the role of fundamental journalists in uncovering and documenting the truth.”

After long months in jail, Israel releases four journalists
Picture
After two years of arbitrary detention, the Israeli occupation army on Friday released a group of Palestinian journalists working for al-Sanabel radio station in Dura town in al-Khalil.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that the Israeli army released the journalists, Ahmed al-Daraweesh, Muntaser Nassar, Hamed al-Namoura and Nidhal Amr.

In late August 2016, Israeli forces stormed the radio station, arrested its crew and shut it down at the pretext of inciting against Israel. The radio station is not allowed to resume its activities since then.

Journalists Syndicate to sue Israel at ICC
Picture
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) Thursday declared intention to file a legal case against Israel at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and other European courts.

The syndicate decided to form a committee in charge of preparing and collecting documents that prove Israeli crimes committed against Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The killing of two journalists and the injury of 90 others in Gaza will be on the top files to be submitted by the committee, the syndicate added.

The International Journalists Federation (IFJ) declared its total support to the Palestinian syndicate’s decision to expose the violations and crimes committed against Palestinian journalists.

Picture
About ten Palestinian journalists were injured by Israeli fire on Monday, while covering the Israeli aggression against Palestinian protesters along Gaza border, the government media office reported, according to Al Ray.

The office condemned, in a statement, deliberate Israeli attacks on Palestinian journalist crews while covering the Great March of Return.

Office chairman Salam Maroof said that six Palestinian journalists were injured by live fire. They were identified as Yaser Qdaih, Omar Hamdan, Hashem Abu Hadaid, Mohammed Abu Dahrouj, Ahmad Zaqout, Mohammed, Abd Allah Ashourbajee.

Israeli police attack Palestinian women's protest in Jerusalem
Picture
The Israeli police on Sunday attacked a group of Palestinian women and girls who were protesting in Occupied Jerusalem against settler demonstrations.

Media sources reported that the Israeli police closed many roads which the settler marches are planned to pass on and deployed its forces in large numbers in the holy city, especially in  Bab al-Amud area.

The sources added that Israeli special forces assaulted a group of women taking part in a protest against the "March of Flags" organized by Israeli settlers, and pushed them away from the place.

The police further restricted the movement of journalists who came to cover the protests and forced them to stay in one place.

National and Islamic forces in Jerusalem had called on Palestinian citizens to take to the streets on Sunday to confront the March of Flags launched by Israeli settlers to celebrate the Jerusalem Reunification Day, a day that marks the Israeli occupation of the eastern part of Jerusalem in 1967.

The Israelis this year celebrate the 51st anniversary of the Israeli occupation of the eastern part of Jerusalem in the 1967 war, also known as "June setback".

Health Ministry: IOF deliberately targets children, journalists
Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continued to deliberately target Palestinian children, journalists, and medics while suppressing the Return March protests along Gaza border, medical sources said.

Spokesman for Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza Ashraf Qudra called on international organizations to immediately intervene and put an end to the Israeli systematic targeting of Palestinian children during the Great March of Return protests.

He also pointed out to the deliberate targeting of Palestinian journalists and medical crews along Gaza eastern border.

So far 53 peaceful protesters have been killed, six of whom are being detained by Israel, and over 8,000 injured after being shot by IOF near Gaza's eastern border since the start of the Great March of Return on March 30.
