Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attends the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, on March 23, 2014
Israeli Prime Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Sunday that the army would use force against anybody plotting attacks against Israel, after troops killed three Palestinians in a West Bank raid.
"Over the weekend, our forces struck at a terrorist who had organized attacks on Israelis and was also planning attacks on innocent civilians," Netanyahu told ministers at the weekly cabinet meeting.
"Our policy is to attack those who attack us and who are planning to attack us," his office quoted him as saying. "Both were applicable in this case."
Israeli troops entered the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank on Saturday in what the army said was an operation to capture wanted Hamas militant Hamza Abu al-Haija, 22.
Clashes broke out resulting in the deaths of Abu al-Haija, 17-year-old Mahmoud Abu Zeina of Islamic Jihad's al-Quds Brigades, and 22-year-old Yazan Mahmoud Basim Jabarin of Fatah's al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades.
Palestinians called a day of mourning and a general strike.
Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades issued a rare joint statement vowing revenge and accusing Abbas' Palestinian Authority of complicity in the killings through its security cooperation with Israel.
But Israeli army spokesman Peter Lerner defended the operation, saying that Abu Alheja was "a ticking bomb" who took part in shooting attacks and was in "advanced stages of the preparation of further attacks."
The army has killed 60 Palestinians since peace talks began in July.

The Arab organization for human rights (AOHR) in London said it is deeply concerned over Israel's unjustified killing of Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian lands. In a press release, the Arab organization stated that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed on Wednesday morning 16-year-old Sami Shawamreh, from Deir Al-Asal village in Al-Khalil, and kept his body in custody, at the pretext he tried to breach the apartheid wall.
The organization said that the childhood in the Palestinian lands is without protection and violated by Israel.
It added that the Palestinian children are exposed to killing and arrest without any reason and deprived of the basic rights enshrined in international law.
AOHR called on the international community to put an end to Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people and take action to protect children.

"With Israel's latest escalation of its illegal settlement enterprise, its racist and prejudicial legislation at the expense of the Palestinian people, the extra-judicial killing of Palestinian civilians, among other flagrant violations of international and humanitarian law, it is has become evident that Israel has done everything possible to destroy the ongoing negotiations and to provoke violence and extremism throughout the region."

Israeli military forces have killed 56 Palestinians and injured 897 since the resumption of peace negotiations with Israel in July, the Palestine Liberation Organization said Tuesday.
"Israeli violations of international law and human rights continued unabated. Rather than demonstrate goodwill during this period, Israel has done the opposite, with the aim of derailing the US peace efforts led by Secretary of State Kerry," a PLO statement said.
There have been over 500 settler attacks on Palestinian civilians and their property in the occupied West Bank and Israeli forces have arrested over 3,000 Palestinians in 3,767 military raids.
Israel has also begun work on 10,509 housing units in illegal settlement while simultaneously demolishing 146 Palestinian homes, the PLO said.
The numbers did not include 15-year-old Yousef Nayif Yousef Shawamrah Abu Akar, who was shot and killed by Israeli forces on Wednesday in the southern West Bank.
Witnesses said the victim had been foraging for local plants when he was shot, but the army claimed he and two others had been vandalizing the security fence.
Peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians were relaunched in July under the auspices of the United States after nearly three years of impasse.
Israel's government has announced the construction of thousands of housing units in illegal settlements since peace talks began.

Palestinians carry the body of Raed Zeiter during his funeral in the West Bank city of Nablus, on March 11
Jordan said on Monday that Israeli President Shimon Peres had apologized to King Abdullah II for the killing of a Jordanian judge by Israeli troops last week.
Peres for his part issued a statement saying he had called Abdullah to express "deep regret" for the shooting of Palestinian Jordanian Raed Zeiter at a border crossing, but the statement stopped short of quoting a full apology.
A Jordan palace statement said Abdullah "received a telephone call from Peres who, as president of the state of Israel, apologized for the martyrdom of Jordanian judge Raed Zeiter".
"Peres expressed his regrets for the incident and said he was deeply affected. He said Israel is committed to work together with Jordan on the probe into the incident."
The statement added the king "also received a similar phone call from (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu," without giving further details.
Israeli troops on March 10 shot Zeiter, saying he attacked them, igniting a diplomatic row between Israel and the kingdom and sparking furor among Jordanians.
Israel had previously expressed regret over the shooting, but stopped short of apologizing to Jordan, the only Arab country besides Egypt to have made peace with it.
The issue ignited a diplomatic row between Israel and the kingdom and caused furore among Jordanians.
Peres expresses 'deep regret'
Peres confirmed he had spoken to Abdullah on Monday, but the wording of his statement left it unclear as to whether he had issued an apology.
"Earlier today I conducted an important conversation with His Majesty King Abdullah II and expressed our deep regret to him," a statement quoted Peres as saying.
"On behalf of the State of Israel, I wish to express my deepest condolences to the people of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the death of Judge Raed Zeiter at the King Hussein Bridge on March 10."
"As the President of the State of Israel I would like to express compassion to the bereaved family, (and) I share in their grief."
His statement did not mention whether Netanyahu had also spoken to the king.
