The Israeli army on Saturday denied responsibility for the death of an elderly Palestinian earlier in the day, saying that he had passed away in an unrelated incident during a raid on his village.
Jamil Ali Abed Jabir, who was in his 60s, died during an Israeli night raid on Haris near Salfit in the northern West Bank. Locals said that he suffered a heart attack while trying to prevent Israeli soldiers from raiding his home for a search.
An official at the regional Israeli military liaison Adel Masalha, however, told Ma'an that "the Israeli army did not raid Jabir's house. They were nearby."
Masalha added that "a youth from the family came to the army asking for help to call an ambulance to save his father, and an Israeli ambulance was called before the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance took him to a medical center."
Palestinian security sources, however, said the Israeli military account was false and that the soldiers had prevented him from leaving during the raid to receive treatment.
The sources told Ma'an that Jabir died "after Israeli soldiers prevented his family from taking him to a hospital for treatment."

An Israeli army spokesperson said that during a "mission to detain the known terrorist in Dura, Palestinians hurled rocks and molotov cocktails at Israeli forces, who responded with riot dispersal means."
She confirmed that Israeli forces used live fire against demonstrators, adding that "reports that a Palestinian was injured or killed are being reviewed."
Another Israeli military spokesperson confirmed that the target of the raid was not successfully detained by Israeli forces.
The killing comes after a week of intensive Israeli raids and operations across the West Bank and especially in the southern West bank region of Hebron.
The Palestinian Prisoner's Society said Wednesday that more than 300 Palestinians have been detained and more than 750 homes have been raided as Israeli forces search for three Israeli youths who went missing last Thursday from the Jewish settlement of Gush Etzion near Bethlehem.
Israel has blamed Hamas for what it deems a kidnapping operation and two-thirds of those arrested were from its membership, including former members of parliament and members of Hamas-linked organizations and charities.
Israel has yet to provide proof of the accusation to the public, however, although authorities have declared their intention to "crush Hamas."
Mahmoud Jihad Muhammad Dudeen is the second Palestinian to be killed in the last week.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story quoted local sources as saying the slain youth was 13 years old, but medical sources have since said that he was 14. We regret the error.

Fakher Zayed
The Israeli army has threatened a Palestinian citizen in Beitunia, east of Ramallah, for his part in documenting the killing of two teens during the Nakba Day protest, last May.
According to the PNN, the home of Fakher Zayed, age 47, was raided yesterday by Israeli forces, upon which they took him to the Ofer interrogation center, where the interrogator accused him of causing problems for the army by publishing the content of his security cameras.
The video clearly reveals how the Israeli army killed two Palestinian teenagers during solidarity protests, this past 15th of May.
Recent forensic studies, following exhumation, have determined that a live bullet was the cause of death for Nadim N0warah, aged 17. The boy's father recently released a public statement to the international community, with regard to the unnacceptable circumstances surrounding his son's death.
Previous tests point to the same scenario for Muhammad Salameh, age 16, whose family declined an autopsy.
Israeli forces have consistently denied that live ammunition was employed during the incident, while Western media and political endeavours have shifted away from the crime, focusing on the current crisis centered around the three missing Israeli settlers.
The PNN further reports that, a few hours later, Israeli forces released Fakher with a warning that, should he tell media agencies or human rights institutions about the killings or fail to remove his security cameras, "because they are illegal", they will cause considerable trouble for him and his family.
Mr. Zayed has asked international institutions to protect him and his family.

Forensic pathologists, following a recent autopsy and exhumation, have determined that a live bullet was the cause of death for Nadim Nawarah, aged 17, one of two Palestinian teenagers who were killed by Israeli forces, last May, during Nakba Day solidarity protests in the West Bank.
DCI-Palestine reports that the autopsy was undertaken at Al-Quds University’s Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Dis, and revealed that the entry and exit wounds were caused by a bullet. Metallic fragments were also recovered, and are presumed to be lead from the bullet’s core.
Israeli forces have consistently denied that live ammunition was employed during the incident.
The family of the second victim, Muhammad Salameh (Abu Daher), aged 16, declined an autopsy. Field research and medical evidence, however, strongly suggest that he too was shot with live ammunition, according to DCI-Palestine.

Use of Live Ammunition Confirmed in Nawarah Shooting

Nadim Nawarah, 17
After undertaking an autopsy of the body of Nadim Nawarah, 17, on Wednesday, forensic pathologists have determined that a live bullet was the cause of his death. The Palestinian teenager was killed by Israeli forces on May 15 during clashes in the West Bank town of Beitunia. The autopsy, which was undertaken at Al-Quds University’s Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Dis, revealed the entry and exit wounds caused by the bullet, as well as recovering metallic fragments, which are presumed to be lead from the bullet’s core.
Chief Palestinian pathologist, Dr. Saber al-Aalul, conducted the autopsy in the presence of two Israeli forensic pathologists, Dr. Chen Kugel and Dr. Ricardo Nachman, from the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir, and two international forensic pathologists from the U.S. and Denmark.
At the request of the Nawarah family, Al-Haq, Defense for Children International-Palestine, Physicians for Human Rights, and B’Tselem coordinated the attendance of the international forensic pathologists.
Responding to the conclusions of the autopsy, the four non-government organisations stated: “These findings underline the urgency of our demand that the criminal investigation into the Beitunia killings be conducted efficiently and concluded promptly. Rather than attempting to discredit those who called for an investigation, the Israeli military should now focus on uncovering the truth about the shootings, and holding those responsible to account.”
Nawarah’s body was exhumed for the autopsy with his family’s consent. The family also provided the Palestinian prosecutor’s office with the bullet recovered from Nawarah’s backpack, which he was wearing at the time of his death.
Israeli forces have consistently denied that live ammunition was employed during the incident, maintaining that only rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters were used. The autopsy findings, however, rule out a rubber bullet injury as the cause of death. The full autopsy report will include an assessment of the bullet’s trajectory. The family of Muhammad Salameh (Abu Daher), 16, the second victim killed during the clashes on May 15, declined an autopsy. IOF kills Palestinian young man in Ramallah clashes

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed at dawn Monday 23-year-old Ahmed Al-Sabrin during clashes with angry young men in Jalazoun refugee camp, north of Ramallah. The young man suffered a serious bullet injury in the chest and succumbed to his injury shortly after he was admitted to hospital, according to local medical sources.
The clashes broke out when a large force of Israeli troops stormed the camp and kidnapped about five young men from their homes. The detainees are thought to be affiliated with the Hamas Movement.
The angry young men torched tires on the road leading to Nablus city near Beit El settlement and threw stones at the invading troops, who responded by firing live bullets and tear gas grenades.
The events were concentrated mainly in the vicinity of the UNRWA school in the camp.
The IOF hindered medical efforts to evacuate the wounded from the camp to Ramallah hospitals and prevented many journalists from covering the events.
The West Bank has seen growing tension and mass arrests since the disappearance of three Jewish settlers near Al-Khalil city.
Some political analysts expressed their beliefs in televised remarks on Sunday that the three young settlers had never been kidnapped and they hid themselves somewhere in order to create all that tension and make their government act violently against the Palestinians in the West Bank.
