The Health Ministry on Sunday reported that since midnight, another six people died from complications related to coronavirus and six more patients had been put on ventilators.
The ministry said the country's death toll now stands at 406, with 238 patients remaining in a serious condition, of which 62 require respiratory assistance through ventilators.
The report added that on Saturday 1,414 people tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the number of active patients currently ill with the disease to 27,729.
At least 20,236 coronavirus tests were conducted on Saturday, putting the contagion rate at 7% once again.
In the meantime, former CEO of the Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv, and former Director-General of the Health Ministry Prof. Gabriel Barbash on Sunday was appointed "coronavirus project manager," which will most likely oversee Israel's coronavirus testing system.
Current Director-General of the Health Ministry Prof. Hezi Levy, clarified that he will continue to oversee the overall campaign against the virus in the country.
Health Ministry Yuli Edelstein announced two weeks ago that he intends to appoint a senior health official to help manage the epidemic.
"The fight against coronavirus is difficult and complicated, an elusive enemy who knows how to hide well," said Edelstein. "The feeling that the whole world, and us Israelis as well, share is uncertainty. So, what do we do? I decided to appoint a special manager to fight coronavirus."

Israel's coronavirus death toll has reached 400, with eight new deaths reported since midnight Saturday, health officials confirmed.
The Health Ministry said that on Friday 1,595 people tested positive for COVID-19.
The Coronavirus National Knowledge and Information Center said since midnight Saturday at least 1,009 new coronavirus cases have been identified in Israel, bringing the total number of diagnoses recorded over the weekend to 2,608.
The number of active patients currently ill with the disease has climbed to 27,502, with the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the outbreak now standing at 49,054.
After 13,856 coronavirus tests conducted since midnight, the contagion rate continues to hover just above 7%.
The report added the number of seriously ill patients has increased by nine since midnight and now stands at 217, with 56 requiring ventilator assistance.
Among the latest fatalities is an 86-year-old woman who died only four days after being hospitalized at Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.
The hospital said the woman suffered from a number of underlying health problems.

Updated figures released by the Health Ministry on Friday showed the total number of new infections for the preceding day was higher than the initially reported 1,814 cases. Instead, Thursday saw 1,929 new infections, the highest daily number of new cases in Israel since the pandemic began.
Jerusalem remains the city hardest-hit by the virus, with 3,795 active cases - a weekly increase of 1,541 in a week, followed by Bnei Brak with 1,918 - an increase of 848 confirmed cases in the past seven days, and Tel Aviv with 1,905 - an increase of 506 in one week.
Despite a late-night cabinet vote Thursday to impose more restrictions on restaurants from Friday, including a ban on in-house dining, the government at the request of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to postpone the order. Those businesses are allowed to continue operating until Tuesday, a move that came after some restaurant owners said they would be ignoring the cabinet's directive.
A delegation of restaurateurs met with Netanyahu on Friday afternoon to express their frustration at what they say would be a death blow to many of their establishments after many had invested in stock and supplies.
"We have invested in stock and will not be subjected to irresponsible and inexplicable steps taken by the government," said Asaf Lees, the owner of popular Tel Aviv eatery Kitchen Market.
