L-R: Ayelet Shaked, Naftali Bennett, Bezalel Smotrich and Rafi Peretz
New Right leader to take top spot on joint list with Jewish Home, whose chair gets no. 2 slot; National Union head gets third place and Bennett is fourth on list of candidates for September elections
The Jewish Home and National Union parties on Monday signed an agreement with the New Right party to run on a joint list in the September elections for the Knesset. The joitn endeavor will be known as the United Right.
The top spot on the list will go to New Right leader Ayelet Shaked, with her party co-founder Naftali Bennett taking the fourth slot.
Jewish Home chair Rafi Peretz has been given the second spot and National Union head Bezalel Smotrich is third on the list of candidates.
The agreement does not currently include the far-right Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) and Zehut (Identity) parties.
The parties agreed that during coalition negotiations after the elections, they would demand the passage of the so-called "Norwegian law" that enables Knesset members who are appointed as ministers to resign their seats and hand them over to other candidates on the party list.
Peretz was also granted a request for the leadership of the United Right to conduct joint coalition negotiations with the Likud chair, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after the elections with the aim of supporting him as the party leader tasked with forming the next government.
"This is wonderful news for the right-wing bloc," Shaked said Monday. "Weeks of effort have now borne fruit. We have united the right-wing parties for a joint (Knesset) run to ensure that costly votes are not taken away."
Shaked was referring to the votes cast for right-wing parties, such as for her own New Right, which were "lost" when those parties failed to pass the threshold to enter the Knesset.
Jewish House chair Rafi Peretz also praised the union, saying that, "we have safeguarded proper representation for religious Zionism on the joint list. Those who run together, win together. We are on our way."
Prime Minister Netanyahu has in recent days been pressing for the New Right and Jewish Home to run separately, and for Peretz to refuse to cede his position as party leader to Shaked.
On Sunday, the Israeli media even reported that Peretz' wife, Michal, recently exerted heavy pressure on her husband to maintain his leadership position.

Children of foreign workers in line for deportation
Amid a wave of public protests, the Population and Immigration Authority intends to deport at least 100 foreign workers, mainly from the Philippines, who have overstayed their work permits, along with their Israeli-born children
Amid a wave of national protests Israel’s immigration authorities on Monday expelled the first family as part of an operation intended to locate, arrest and deport illegal foreign workers and their families.
The Population and Immigration Authority intends to deport at least 100 illegal foreign workers, mostly from the Philippines, and their children who were largely born in Israel.
A Filipina carer and her 11-month-old baby - who were arrested over a week ago - were deported in the early hours of Monday morning, becoming the first ones to be flown back to their home country as part of the operation.
The woman, Jocelyn de Vera, came to Israel over 13 years ago and has recently been living in the country with an expired work permit. The Population and Immigration Authority said that following the arrest, the woman expressed a desire to return to her native Philippines with her daughter.
A representative from the Philippine Consulate in Israel visited the pair and helped issue a passport for the toddler.
In the meantime, the inspectors of the Population and Immigration Authority on Monday morning arrested a family made up of a foreign worker from the Philippines and a foreign worker from Turkey, as well as their two children - aged three and two - in southern Tel Aviv.
This is the fourth family to be arrested since the beginning of the operation last week.
The authorities are currently focusing on families with toddler-age children in order to avoid deporting children who are ingrained in Israeli education system.
The decision was made in light of widespread protest against deporting children who were born and raised in Israel, and who in some instances don’t speak their parents' native language and aren’t familiar with their native culture.

regimes, “not much” had happened as a result of the UN’s successive condemnations of the acts of bloodshed by Riyadh and Tel Aviv.
The Saudis have even “executed more people and enlisted children in war” as US President Donald Trump’s administration would increase its support for them in the aftermath of every UN measure.
According to the UN list, over the past year, the Saudi-led coalition waging war on Yemen killed 729 children, while Israel killed 57 kids and injured more than 2,600 across the occupied Palestinian territories.
Most recently, Trump vetoed a congressional move against American arms sales to Saudi Arabia last Wednesday, “allowing the Saudi to have more weapons,” Omari said.
“Make no mistake about it, the Saudi regime and the Israelis are protected by the Trump administration,” he said.
Michael Lane, the North Carolina-based founder of the American Institute for Foreign Policy think tank, who was also a guest on the show, acknowledged that “it’s horrific and it’s grotesque” for any regime’s name to make the UN list.
Asked why the UN measures had failed to stop Riyadh and Tel Aviv’s infanticide, he said, “The United Nations is not the most effective organization in the world.”
He also alleged that the Saudis “are actively taking steps to reduce that number.”

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad says the occupation of Palestinian territories as part of attempts to form an illegal entity, called Israel, has been the main cause of terrorism in the world.
In remarks quoted by Turkey's state-owned Anadolu news agency on Saturday, Mahathir stressing that if the causes of terrorism were not dealt with, then it would be difficult to put a stop to them.
“The main thing that we think we should always stress is the causes of terrorism. Today, there is already a consensus almost to blame terrorism on Muslims,” said the Malaysian premier who was in Turkey on an official visit.
“But the fact you said, after the seizure of Palestine, and the disregard of international law by Israel, this has led to so-called acts of terrorism. But in order to get rid of terrorism, we need to know the reason why they terrorize unless you treat the causes of terrorism, you are not going to be able to stop terrorism,” he said.
Mahathir called on the Tel Aviv regime to allow Palestinians to return back and reclaim their property, or at least agree on stopping the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements.
“And if we know, beside this, the causes for terrorism, and we treat them, we take action to stop this injustice perpetrated on the Palestinians, I think there will be less terrorism or no terrorism all over the world,” he said.
Mahathir has previously dubbed Israel as “a state of robbers”, saying his country enjoys friendly relations with every country in the world except Israel.
About 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 illegal settlements built since the 1967 occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.
Some 7,000 Palestinians are currently behind bars in 17 Israeli prisons and detention centers, according to reports.
Jerusalem al-Quds remains at the core of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with Palestinians hoping that the eastern part of the city would eventually serve as the capital of a future independent Palestinian state.

A child suffering from malnutrition caused by the Saudi aggression lies on a bed at a treatment center in al-Sabeen Maternal Hospital in the Yemeni capital Sana'a on June 22, 2019
The United Nations has for the third year put Saudi Arabia and its allies in their military campaign against Yemen on the world body's blacklist of child killers.
According to a report by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, in 2018, the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen killed or injured 729 children, nearly half the total child casualties of the year.
The UN chief's report, which was presented to the Security Council on Friday, also states that Palestinian casualties caused by the Israeli regime, mainly its military, hit a four-year high in 2018.
The report shows that 59 Palestinian children were killed - 56 by Israeli forces - and another 2,756 were injured last year.
Guterres urged "Israel to immediately put in place preventive and protective measures to end the excessive use of force".
"I condemn the increasing number of child casualties, which are often a result of attacks in densely populated areas and against civilian objects, including schools and hospitals," Guterres said in the report, produced by UN Children and Armed Conflict envoy Virginia Gamba and issued in Guterres' name.
The report does not subject those listed to action; however, it shames parties to conflicts in the hope of pushing them to stop killing children.
Diplomats say Saudi Arabia and Israel both have exerted pressure in recent years in a bid to stay off the list, but no to avail.
In reaction to the Friday report, Saudi Ambassador to the UN Abdadllah Al-Mouallimi claimed that "every child's life is precious" to Riyadh, and questioned the sourcing and accuracy of the report, describing the numbers as "exaggerated."
His claims come as over 80,000 Yemeni children under five years have died as a result of severe malnutrition caused by the Saudi-led coalition's aggression against the people of Yemen, Guterres cited a report as saying earlier this year.
The war that began in March 2015 has so far killed thousands of Yemeni women and children and destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure.
The Yemeni Health Ministry announced in a report on Friday that one Yemeni child is dying of malnutrition every 10 minutes. The report, cited by al-Mayadeen TV, said malnutrition has affected 2.3 million children in Yemen during the past five years.
It also pointed to the outbreak of cholera as a result of the Saudi-led coalition's aggression, saying that children account for 40 percent of the 3,700 people diagnosed with the disease in the war-torn country.

Ynet analyst Elior Levy said that Palestinian Authority (PA) president Mahmoud Abbas’s decision to renounce all agreements with Israel was not the first such announcement.
In a recent article published on the website of Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper (ynet), Levy affirmed that Abbas had made similar decisions in recent years without implementing them, describing his decisions in this regard as “dead letters.”
The Israeli analyst claimed he was told by Palestinian officials that they believed that Abbas’s decision this time would be similar to previous ones and that there would be no real change in the relation between the PA and Israel.
Abbas on Thursday announced he decided to stop abiding by the agreements signed with the Israeli side and to form a committee to implement the decision taken in this regard by the Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
