Israeli forces disperse West Bank demos
Picture
Israeli forces on Friday dispersed a demonstration in al-Maasara village south of Bethlehem in solidarity the victims of an alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria.

Demonstrators marched toward the wall and raised Palestinian flags and pictures of prisoners in Israeli jails. Israeli forces used stun grenades and tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

Activists also condemned the “massacre” in Syria, and reiterated their support for Syrian people and Palestinian refugees in Syria.

Mohammad Brejia, coordinator of the popular committee against the wall, said that “Palestinians monitor the negotiations closely because what is required from the Palestinian negotiator is to seriously and efficiently (advocate) the issue of Palestinian refugees, land, and prisoners.”

Near Ramallah, four people were injured and dozens suffered tear-gas inhalation in clashes between protesters and Israeli forces in Bilin village's weekly march against the wall and settlement activity.

Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets, tear gas, and stun grenades at protesters who marched toward their lands near the wall. Ashraf al-Khatib, 33, Kifah Mansour, 35, Mohammad Hamad, 22, and a Chinese journalist suffered injuries from rubber-coated steel bullets. Activists suffered tear-gas inhalation.

Protesters raised Palestinian flags and chanted for unity, and called for the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

In Kafr Qaddum, another village near Ramallah, two people sustained injuries and dozens suffered tear-gas inhalation as Israeli forces targeted a mosque while dispersing a demonstration.

Israeli soldiers positioned on a hilltop overlooking the mosque fired dozens of tear-gas canisters during the sermon. Worshipers suffered tear-gas inhalation and several people fainted, including elderly residents.

A spokesman for the demonstrators, Murad Eshtewi, said Israeli soldiers raided the village at 11 a.m. and fired hundreds of tear-gas canisters all around the village. Mashhour Saleh Jum’a, 42, and Mohammad Shaker Eshtewi, 24, were struck by tear-gas canister in the hand and back, respectively.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said Palestinians hurled rocks at security forces who responded with riot-control measures in both Bilin and Kafr Kaddum.

She said that in Kafr Kaddum, Palestinians also rolled a burning tire toward security forces.

Israeli planes bomb a PFLP-GC position in Beirut
Picture
Israeli warplanes Thursday night bombed a position belonging to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine General Command (PFLP-GC) in Na’ama neighborhood in southern Beirut. Media reports said that the airstrike did not result in any human casualties.

The Israeli military claimed that the airstrike was in response to the firing of four rockets from Lebanon at  the northern 1948-occupied Palestinian territories, adding that the position that was targeted in southern Beirut sustained a direct hit.

The airstrike took place after a security meeting headed by General Benny Gantz, the Israeli chief of staff, that was held to assess the security situation after 4 rockets fell on Western Galilee with Israeli defenses intercepting one of the rockets.

Israeli warplanes strike Lebanon

Israeli warplanes have struck a target south of the Lebanese capital Beirut.

The attack came a day after militants fired four rockets into northern Israel, the Israeli military and a Palestinian official said.

The Israeli military said that Israeli warplanes targeted "a terror site located between Beirut and Sidon in response" to the rocket attack. It was the first air raid on the area since the 2006 war between Israel and Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group.

Ramez Mustafa, a Lebanon-based official with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC), said the raid occurred at 4am local time, and caused no casualties or material damage. He said the warplanes struck the coastal town of Naameh, 10 miles south of Beirut. The Palestinian group is active in the area and has a base there.

An Associated Press photographer in Naameh said the raid targeted a PFLP-GC base in a valley in the town. Lebanese troops in the area prevented journalists from reaching the base.

An Israeli army statement issued after the air raid said: "Yesterday's attack is a blatant breach of Israeli sovereignty that jeopardised Israeli civilian life. Israel will not tolerate terrorist aggression originating from Lebanese territory."

O Thursday, militants in Lebanon fired four rockets into Israel, setting off air raid sirens and startling a nation already on edge over turmoil along its northern and southern borders.

Lt Col Peter Lerner, a military spokesman, said three rockets landed in northern Israel, while a fourth was intercepted by Israel's "Iron Dome" rocket defence system. No one was injured, and the military dismissed the attack as an "isolated incident".

But the rockets added to the nation's fears at a time it is nervously watching unrest in neighbouring Syria, where the government has been accused of using chemical weapons against rebels and civilians this week. It is also worried about Egypt to the south, where Islamic militants have stepped up their activities near the Israeli border in the wake of a military coup.

The Abdullah Azzam Brigades, an al Qaida-inspired group based in Lebanon, claimed responsibility for the attack in a post on the Twitter account of Sirajuddin Zurayqat, a prominent Islamic militant leader. It said the rockets were capable of flying 25 miles, putting the Israeli city of Haifa in its range. The group, designated a terrorist organisation by the US, has claimed responsibility for past rocket attacks on Israel.

Israel Fires Missile Into Syria
Picture
A Tamuz missile was fired at a Syrain military post in the Golan Heights by the Israeli military on Saturday.  The missile was launched after several mortars were fired from the Syrian side of the boarder.

According to the Israeli military, the mortars caused no damage or injuries and were likely stray fire. The UN has been informed of the mortar landings.

The stray mortars were one of dozens to land in Israeli territory since the beginning of unrest in Syria in 2011.  Israel has filed a complaint with the UN peacekeeping forces in the Golan, requesting an end to the cross-boarder shelling.  An additional response from Israel has been to shoot back occasional missiles at Syrian army positions.

Palestinian youth shot with live ammunition in critical condition
Picture

Israeli forces shot and seriously injured a Palestinian teen with live ammunition early Tuesday morning during a night raid on Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank. The victim, identified as Karim Abu Isbeah, 17, sustained a gunshot wound to his lower torso and remained in critical condition at Arab Specialist Hospital in Nablus, according to DCI-Palestine sources. The bullet struck Karim on his right side in the waist, causing damage to his right kidney, right lung, pancreas and large and small intestines. Karim underwent emergency surgery to remove his kidney and lung, and shrapnel from his chest, according to hospital sources.

“This shooting is tragic, yet all too predictable,” said Ayed Abu Eqtaish, Accountability Program director at DCI-Palestine. “Israeli forces operate with impunity which allows shootings like this to become a somewhat regular occurrence.”

Around 2:30 am, while Karim was on the roof of a house with two other youths, Israeli forces below on the street fired live ammunition toward them from a distance of 50-60 meters (165-195 feet), according to an eyewitness. The two other youths also sustained injuries, with one transferred to Al Maqasid hospital in Jerusalem. Majd Lahlouh, 22, was killed during the incursion, according to news sources.

Israeli officials said the shooting occurred as Israeli forces encountered and responded to violent protesters after they entered Jenin refugee camp to arrest a suspected member of Islamic Jihad, according to news sources.

At least 22 children have been shot and injured by live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets or tear-gas canisters since January 2013, according to evidence collected by DCI-Palestine. During the same period, two Palestinian teens have been killed by live ammunition.

In July 2013, Jihad Hamad, 14, was injured when two bullets struck him in the neck and right shoulder as he walked with friends near the main road in the West Bank town of Silwad. In June 2013, Mohammad Khader, 17, was shot in the chest with live ammunition and seriously injured when Israeli forces conducted a night raid on Qalandia refugee camp near Ramallah.

In May 2013, Atta Sabbah, 12, from Jalazoun refugee camp near Ramallah was shot by an Israeli soldier while trying to retrieve his school bag from another soldier nearby, according to DCI-Palestine documentation. The live bullet struck Atta in the stomach and exited through his back, severing his spinal cord and causing paralysis from the waist down.

Israeli navy gunboats opened heavy machinegun fire at beaches in southern Gaza, Zahra city, and Nuseirat refugee camp on Tuesday night and at dawn Wednesday. A security source told the PIC reporter that the navy gunboats opened fire at those shores last night and later on opened intermittent fire at the same areas.

Nizar Ayyash, the chairman of the fishermen syndicate in Gaza, said in a press release on Tuesday that the Israeli occupation authorities launch a systematic, ferocious campaign against the Palestinian fishermen.

He said that the Israeli forces routinely open fire at fishermen and their boats, arrest them and confiscate their boats and fishing tools, and shrink their allowed areas of fishing.

Hundreds of settlers in Nabi Yusuf tomb spark clashes
Picture
Violent confrontations broke out in the vicinity of Nabi Yusuf tomb after hundreds of settlers broke into the said shrine to perform Talmudic rituals. Eyewitnesses said that dozens of buses arrived at the tomb at an early hour on Wednesday carrying hundreds of settlers under heavy Israeli military escort.

They said that the Israeli soldiers sealed off the entire area and set up roadblocks and searched passing cars and citizens and checked their IDs.

They said that young men threw stones at the Israeli soldiers and settlers in protest at their visit. They added that the soldiers fired teargas and that many citizens suffered breathing problems.

The sources said that the two, 18 and 19 years of age, were moved to the Kamal Adwan Hospital, suffered moderate injuries, after being shot in the legs.

The latest attack is another violation to the ceasefire agreement, mediated by Egypt and a number of international countries, between Israel and the resistance in Gaza.

On Tuesday evening [August 13, 2013], Palestinian medical sources have reported that three fishermen have been detained, and violently attacked by Israeli soldiers, in Palestinian territorial waters, resulting in moderate injuries.

On Saturday at night [August 10 2013], a Palestinian man was shot and killed by Israeli military fire, while another Palestinian was shot and injured earlier in the day east of Gaza city.

The body of the slain Palestinian, identified as Hussein Abdul-Hadi Awadallah, 30, was handed by Israel to the Palestinian side in Gaza. He is from An-Nusseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza.

Settlers assault the family of Sub Laban in the old city of Jerusalem
Picture
Adam Laban

Sub Laban family members were injured with bruises and wounds after being attacked by dozens of settlers while being near their home in Al-Qirmi neighborhood in the old city of Jerusalem.

Amal Sub Laban (Um Louai) explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center what happened with the family saying: “while I was on my way home in Al-Qirmi neighborhood along with some family members, one settler who follows my son Adam on a daily basis was staring at us and suddenly he disappeared. We kept on walking, and while I was helping my husband walk since he is paralyzed as a result of a stroke and we were only a few meters away from our home, I heard my son Adam screaming. I rushed to him only to find 20-30 settlers attacking him and then they attacked me using sticks and iron chains as well as randomly spraying us with gas. My son Louai heard us scream and upon his arrival, the settlers surrounded him and attacked him as well.”

She added: “I tried to scream and get them to move away from my sons Louai and Oday, but I did not succeed especially that they sprayed me with a good amount of gas on my eyes and from a close distance; they also attacked me and my paralyzed husband using their belts on our bodies.”

She explained that she tried to appeal for a group of Jews and the synagogue security next to her house to call the police, noting that the police arrived and moved the settlers away. Ambulances arrived at the scene as well and all family members were transferred to Hadassah Ein Kerem and Shaare Zedek hospitals for treatment as they were all injured with bruises, wounds and burns; Oday had 4 stitches in his head.

She also explained that a group of settlers attacked Oday the next morning and the police detained him for a few hours at Al-Maskobyeh and was then released on condition of house arrest for 5 days.
Um Louai mentioned that she suffers on a daily basis from settlers attacks on the people that live by her house in the synagogue.
Witnesses: Israeli navy fires at Gaza fishing boats
Picture
Israel's navy opened fire at Palestinian fishermen off the northern coast of Gaza on Tuesday, witnesses said.

Israeli ships fired several shells at the boats, who were fishing near Gaza City, causing material damage.

No injuries were reported.

On Monday, Israeli naval forces confiscated three fishing boats, and a day earlier detained three men swimming it what was deemed a "suspicious" area.

In May, the Israeli government re-extended Gaza's fishing zone to six miles, after reducing it in March following a rocket attack from the coastal territory.

The zone had been extended to six miles as part of an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire that ended an eight-day conflict between Israel and Hamas in November.

In the Oslo Accords, Israel agreed to a 20-nautical-mile fishing zone off Gaza's coast but it imposed a 3-mile limit for several years, opening fire at fishermen who strayed further.

Israel has controlled Gaza waters since its occupation of the area in 1967, and has kept several warships stationed off the coast since 2008.

UN rights chief challenges US and Israel on drones
Picture
Legal terms of US, Israel drone use examined by UN, which asks to clarify basis of strikes in areas of conflict

The UN human rights chief is urging the United States and Israel to clarify the legal basis for the use of armed drones in Pakistan, Yemen and Gaza.

Navi Pillay told a UN Security Council meeting Monday on protection of civilians that "the current lack of transparency surrounding their use creates an accountability vacuum and affects the ability of victims to seek redress."

Speaking by videoconference, Pillay said she is "seriously concerned about human rights implications for the protection of civilians of armed drone strikes carried out in the context of counter-terrorism and military operations including in Pakistan, Yemen and Gaza."

"I urge relevant states to clarify the legal basis for such strikes as well as the safeguards in place to ensure compliance with applicable international law," Pillay said.

IOF wounds youth, interrogates Hamas MP in WB sweep
Picture
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed various areas in north and central West Bank at dawn Monday and broke into civilian homes and searched them. The Hebrew radio said that IOF soldiers rounded up more than ten Palestinians in the West Bank at the pretext they were wanted for interrogation.

Hamas MP Fatehi Qarawi relatives told Quds Press that IOF soldiers broke into the lawmaker’s home in Nur shams refugee camp in Tulkarem and interrogated him and his liberated son Hazem before dawn Monday and left without arresting anyone.

Meanwhile, a young man in Juba village, south of Jenin, was wounded in his leg after IOF soldiers fired metal and rubber bullets and teargas canisters at demonstrators who were protesting the storming of their village, eyewitnesses said, adding that other people were treated for gas inhalation.

They said that the soldiers broke into the homes of eight citizens and subjected them to field interrogation.

Other confrontations were reported in Seelat Al-Harithiya village and in Jenin refugee camp in which IOF soldiers used live bullets and teargas bombs but no arrests were reported.

Israeli settlers badly injure Palestinian shepherd
Picture
Six Israeli settlers have attacked and badly injured a Palestinian shepherd and his son in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, reports say.

The Monday assault happened outside the village of Michmas near the city of Ramallah, where the settlers took away 47-year-old Nagheh Thanjbeh and his son in a car at knife-point and brutally beat them.

The attackers then stabbed the man in the head and broke all his fingers. They also fractured the boy’s hands and killed two sheep belonging to them. The victims have been shifted to a Ramallah hospital.

In recent years, Israeli settlers in the West Bank have often assaulted Palestinians and vandalized their property. However, the Tel Aviv regime rarely detains the assailants.

The Israeli regime maintains a defiant stand on the issue of its illegal settlements on Palestinian land as it refuses to freeze settlement expansion. Tel Aviv has come under repeated and widespread international condemnation over the issue.

More than half a million Israelis live in over 120 illegal settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Human rights groups accuse Tel Aviv of ignoring complaints by the victims of settler attacks.

Report: Shepherd attacked with iron rod

Najeh Abu Ali, 47, attacked near Migron outpost with sticks, sharp objects, witnesses say. Police launch investigation

A shepherd was attacked Sunday near the Migron outpost by masked men, witnesses reported. The victim, 47, was evacuated to the Ramallah hospital with moderate to severe head injuries. The Judea and Samaria Police Department launched an investigation and is searching for the assailants.

The attack occurred Sunday morning, as a group of shepherds from the village of Mukhamas crossed an underground tunnel under Route 60, and came across a group of masked men at the other end. Najeh Abu Ali, who finished crossing first, said six men in masks attacked him with sticks and sharp objects. The victim added that the men beat him on his head, stabbed him and several of his sheep. The shepherds who crossed the tunnel after Abu Ali, saw the assailants only as they were fleeing the scene, leaving Abu Ali bruised and beaten. The victim's friends then carried him to the road, where they managed to stop a car to take him to a hospital.

According to one of his friends, the hospital found that Abu Ali had multiple fractures in his body and needed 75 stitches to his head and torso. "The six attackers were waiting for him at the other side of the tunnel," his friend said. "They were wearing masks and as soon as he stepped out of the tunnel, they started to attack him with iron rods. Then they killed and injured some of the sheep and ran away."

The friend added that after the incident, representatives of the Palestinian coordination and liaison department questioned him so as to start an investigation in coordination with the police and the IDF. This was the first time that Abu Ali was attacked, but according to his friends, several attacks have occurred in the region. The victim noted he intended to file a complaint with the help of B'Tselem once he recuperated.

They said that clashes erupted in Balata as citizens confronted the invading soldiers, adding that a number of citizens fainted as a result of the IOF extensive use of teargas bombs while one of them was wounded with a rubber bullet in his foot.

Other IOF soldiers raided Beit Fajjar village in Bethlehem and arrested a young man in his twenties after searching his family home. The soldiers served summonses for three other citizens in the village.

Israel retaliates after Syria shells hit Golan Heights
Picture
The Israeli army fired into Syria after shells from the neighboring country hit the Israeli-occupied sector of the Golan Heights on Saturday, a military spokesman said.

"Today, several shells fired from Syria landed in the central Golan heights, adjacent to the Israel-Syria border," he told AFP.

Israeli military "forces carried out a pinpoint strike, targeting the source of the shooting. A hit was confirmed."

The spokesman said at least three shells were confirmed to have hit Israel. He could not say whether the army considered the incidents cases of stray fire spilling over from the conflict in Syria.

Army radio reported the Israeli attack demolished a Syrian military position.

A defense source told AFP the Israeli response took place after Israel filed a complaint to the UN Disengagement Observer Force, which monitors the 1974 ceasefire line between Israel and Syria.

The Golan has been tense since the beginning of the conflict in Syria more than two years ago, but so far there have only been minor flare-ups as Syrian small arms fire or mortar rounds hit the Israeli side, prompting an occasional Israeli response.

Israel, which is technically at war with Syria, seized 1,200 square kilometers of the strategic plateau during the 1967 Six-Day War, which it later annexed in a move never recognized by the international community.

Also on Saturday, seven wounded Syrians were taken into Israel for medical care, the military spokesman said.

Dozens of Syrians, including women and children, have been treated in hospitals in northern Israel since the beginning of the uprising in their country.

Soldiers Invade Village Near Nablus, Kidnap Five Palestinians
Picture
Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded, on Friday evening, the village of Beita south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and kidnapped five Palestinians; clashes and injuries have been reported.

Local sources said that dozens of soldiers invaded the village, broke into and violently searched several homes, causing property damage, and kidnapped the five Palestinians, the Maan News Agency has reported.

Four of the kidnapped residents have been identified as Mazin Fawzi Dweikat, 19, Mansour Ahmad Hamayel, 22, Ammar Yousef Hamayel, 21, and Azzouz Mousa Hamayel, 17.

The sources added that the soldiers also fired dozens of flares, gas bombs and concussion grenades in a number of neighborhoods in the village.

The army claimed that the invasion was carried out after Molotov cocktails was hurled at Israeli military vehicles driving at the Beita Junction, south of the village.

Video: Soldiers violently attack and arrest peaceful protesters in Beit Ummar
Yesterday, four people were violently arrested at a peaceful demonstration taking place near the village of Al-Masara, on the outskirts of Hebron(Al Khalil). Around 60 demonstrators calling for the dismantlement of illegal Israeli settlements upon Palestinian land were attacked and disbanded by Israeli soldiers within minutes.

At around 11.30am the procession began, with many people waving flags and calling chants of freedom. An Israeli military vehicle drove by, turned around and blocked the road. Within two minutes two more military jeeps and one Police car had joined the blockade. Heavily armed soldiers stormed the procession, splitting the group into two and beating protesters to the ground. The soldiers pushed protesters back and formed a wall of plastic shields. Four men including two international and two Palestinian protesters were arrested.
Abed was holding a camera and documenting the demonstration when he was quickly grabbed and pushed by an Israel soldier. Abed shouted at the soldier to let go of his arm and tried to pull away from the soldiers grasp. The soldier responded by strangling and arresting him. Another protester, Muad Al-lahham, was arrested while calmly waving a Palestinian flag.

Local Palestinians are incensed by the continuous settlement expansion and subsequent annexation of their land that deliberately prevents farmers from harvesting their crops. This disabling act of aggression has led to local Palestinian families being financially crippled. As an act of resistance, the local people regularly hold peaceful demonstrations that are consistently met with force from the Israeli occupation. These acts, usually held on Juma’a, often use symbolism to convey their message. Two weeks ago the locals erected a tent on occupied Palestinian land, as a mark of resistance to the Israeli settlements.

Palestinians here are used to being arrested at their demonstrations. Yesterday, Mahmoud from Al-Masara had his permit taken from him, which is indicative of imminent arrest. For Mahmoud, this is routine and he calmly smoked a cigarette while soldiers decided his fate. Mahmoud was allowed to maintain his freedom, but he never knows when an arrest may come. Asked why he continues to protest he said: “[our] goal is to live in peace and to have our freedom like anybody else in the world. [Israelis] have occupied Palestine, but they can never occupy our minds.”

The majority of protesters came from the villages of Beit Ummar and Al-Masara, which are both affected by Highway 60 that was built by Israeli authorities. The highway cuts through the villages, dividing people from their farm lands. As well as this, the inhabitants of the Israeli settlement of Kami Tzur that is close to the villages use intimidation and force in attempt to prevent the farmers harvesting their crops. The force used by the Israeli army at yesterday’s protest demonstrates the intolerance toward peaceful protesters who make a stand against this injustice.

Israeli suppression of peaceful anti-settlement marches in W. Bank continues

Scores of Palestinian and foreign activists suffered injuries on Friday afternoon when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) attacked their weekly marches against settlement activities in the West Bank. The intensity of the tear gas fired by the IOF at the protestors caused many cases of severe suffocation.

Some children also suffocated when the IOF deliberately fired tear gas grenades at nearby houses during their suppression of the protest.

Members of the Belgian group "Artists against the Wall" were among other foreign activists who participated in the Kafr Qaddum march.

The anti-settlement march of Masarah village, southwest of Bethlehem, also received its share of weekly oppression at the hands of the IOF.

Berejah added that Israeli soldiers physically attacked journalists, and arrested Palestinian protestors and two Italian activists during the events.

A number of Palestinian and foreign activists also took part in the Bil'in village anti-wall march that was held yesterday.

The IOF prevented the march from reaching the wall and fired a barrage of tear gas grenades at the protestors.

Israeli troops clash with Palestinians outside Ofer prison
Israeli troops have clashed with Palestinian youngsters outside Israel's Ofer prison located near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

The clashes occurred on Tuesday as the Tel Aviv regime released about two dozen Palestinian prisoners it held for over two decades.

Israel is holding more than 4,700 Palestinians in prisons, many of them without charge or trial.

On Tuesday, Israel released only 26 Palestinian prisoners as the first batch of some 104 long-term detainees who are set to be freed in several stages.
Eleven of the 26 prisoners arrived in the occupied West Bank and were welcomed by acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas. Fifteen other prisoners arrived at the besieged Gaza Strip through the Erez crossing.

People in the West Bank and Gaza were in a festive mood and gave the released prisoners a hero’s welcome.

Israel and the Palestinian Authority are set to launch the US-mediated talks in al-Quds (Jerusalem) on Wednesday, following a preparatory round, which was held last month in Washington.

Earlier in the day, American political commentator Gordon Duff told Press TV that the latest round of the Middle East peace talks aims to buy time for Tel Aviv, and called on the Palestinian Authority to withdraw from the negotiations.

“They [Israelis] were buying time, spending money, buying off members of the Congress. They now have over 500 members of America’s Congress who have signed a letter totally supporting Israel, opposing the talks,” Gordon Duff said.

He added that the Zionist regime is buying time in preparation for a possible military offensive against Lebanon.

“Israel only wanted to buy time, and in another sense Israel is hoping to create enough publicity here where we are likely to see a renewal of violence... and we are expecting a military attack against Lebanon fairly soon,” Duff added.

He called on the Palestinians to make a wise decision and pull out from the negotiations, saying, “The Palestinian Authority has nothing to gain in entering negotiations now.”
Army Attacks Three Fishermen In Gaza
Picture
Tuesday evening [August 13, 2013] Palestinian medical sources have reported that three fishermen have been detained, and violently attacked by Israeli soldiers, in Palestinian territorial waters, resulting in moderate injuries.

Ashfar Al-Qodra, spokesperson of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, stated that the soldiers kidnapped the three fishermen, and violently assaulted them, before releasing them later on.

He added that the three, identified as Khader Marwan Sa’eedy, Mohammad Jamal No’man, and Hasan Ali Morad, were moved to the Shifa Medical Center in Gaza, suffering moderate injuries.

The attack is the latest of a series of ongoing violations against the Palestinian fishermen, and their boats, in Palestinian water in the coastal region, dozens of casualties and arrests have been reported.

When Israel imposed the illegal siege on Gaza in 2006, the fishermen were limited to only three nautical miles off the Gaza shore.

Yet, the fishermen and their boats are constantly attacked even within those three miles leading to dozens of casualties, and excessive property damage.

As part of the ceasefire agreement of November 2012, Israel agreed to allow the Palestinians to fish within six nautical miles of the shore, but unilaterally decreased the allotted area to three miles.

Last May, Israel decided to allow the fishermen to fish within six nautical miles of the Gaza shore, but the Navy continued to attack them even within the three nautical miles.

Under the Oslo accords in the mid-nineties, the Palestinians are supposed to be allowed to fish in 20 nautical miles off the Gaza shore.

In a statement issued by the leadership of the Israeli military, the army said that it will continue to target anyone who attacks Israel, Israeli daily, Haaretz, reported.

Israel said that Palestinian fighters fired a shell into the Negev town of Sderot as soon as Israel started the release of 26 Palestinian detainees to boost talks with the Palestinian leadership in the West Bank, before the second round of direct talks in held.

Haaretz added that Palestinian and Israeli negotiators will be meeting in Jerusalem on Wednesday; the meeting comes as a follow-up to two meetings held in Washington.

The Palestine News & Info Agency (WAFA), run the by the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, has reported that President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed, on Wednesday at dawn, the eleven West Bank detainees, at his presidential headquarters.
