Israeli arrests and summonses reported throughout West Bank
Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) summoned at dawn Saturday 19 Palestinians including 2 women in different parts of the West Bank, and arrested three citizens in Bethlehem. Local sources told the PIC reporter that the IOF summoned the liberated prisoner Youssef al-Laham, 38, from Bethlehem.

In Jenin, IOF stormed Araba town and served summonses to two Palestinian women to Salam military camp.

In al-Khalil, Israeli forces summoned three young men from Yatta town and three liberated prisoners from Fawar refugee camp, in addition to six youths in Aroub camp, north of the city.

In Bethlehem, three Palestinian youths were arrested in Jabal Fardiss area and taken to an unknown destination.

In the same context, Israeli occupation forces raided at dawn Saturday Qaryout village, south of Nablus, amid heavy fire of tear gas bombs.

Tear gas bombs were heavily and randomly fired at Palestinian citizens, causing a state of panic among children, local sources told the PIC reporter.

IOF soldiers summoned two citizens after storming their homes in the village, the sources added.

On the other hand, dozens suffered breathing difficulties on Saturday morning during clashes in Beit Ummar village, northern al-Khalil, after Israeli forces fired tear gas bombs.

The clashes erupted after Israeli forces brutally broke into Mohammed Awad's home, causing a state of panic among children and women.

A 21-year-old Palestinian paramedic was hit with an Israeli sound bomb in his face during confrontations in Issawiye village to the north east of occupied Jerusalem on Friday night. Mohammed Gharable, the head of the First Aid Arab Union Society, said that the paramedic, Mohammed Mazen, was accompanying his aunt when the incident occurred.

He charged the Israeli occupation forces with deliberately attempting to run over him before firing the sound bomb at his direction.

Mazen was taken to Makased hospital for treatment where his condition was described as moderate.

Palestine TV Denounces Israeli Invasion Of Its Jerusalem Office
Picture
The Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) strongly denounced the Israeli military invasion against its Jerusalem branch, during live broadcast, and the detention of two employees and a guest speaker.

It said “the attack is yet another example of Israeli assaults against the Palestinians, and their media departments.”

The army and police claimed the broadcast is not licensed by Israel, “therefore illegal and must be stopped”, while the PBC affirmed it is legally operating in occupied East Jerusalem, and obtained all permits similar to all Arab and foreign agencies operating in Jerusalem.

It added that, on Friday morning, the Police requested the director of “Good Morning Jerusalem”, Ibrahim Qleibo, and the program host, to stop the show.

The PBC said the attack is part of ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinians and their institutions in every part of occupied Palestine, especially in occupied Jerusalem, the capital of the Palestinian state.

The Police broke into the Pal Media office in occupied Jerusalem, and kidnapped show director, Nader Bebers, Pal Media Coordinator, Ashfar Shweiki, in addition to Ala’ al-Haddad, member of a detainees’ committee in occupied Jerusalem.

Show host, Mona Abu ‘Assab, was forced to end her live show under gunpoint, after the police and the army invaded the offices and the studio.

The PBC demanded Arab and international institutions to condemn the attack, and to expose the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and their media outlets, especially in occupied Jerusalem.

It said Israel is acting on fully isolating Jerusalem, and separating its indigenous Palestinians from the rest of occupied Palestine, adding that Jerusalem is the capital of the anticipated Palestinian State, and that “the occupation, its settlements and violations, cannot wipe out the deep Arab, Islamic and Christian history, in the holy city”.

The PBC further said all Israeli measures, violations and settlements in occupied Jerusalem are illegitimate and violate International Law as Jerusalem is under illegal occupation.

Israeli police spokesperson, Luba Samri, said the attack was part of what she called “an investigation into the contents of the show”, according to Ma'an News Agency.

Samri confirmed three were kidnapped during the raid, and that they were released later on, and alleged “no programs were interrupted during the attack”. The three were interrogated for several hours, and were denied legal representation.

Palestinian Seriously Injured By Army Fire In Jerusalem
Picture
Palestinian sources have reported that one Palestinian suffered a serious head injury after Israeli soldiers opened fire at nonviolent protesters in the al-Eesawiyya town, in occupied East Jerusalem.

Mohammad Abu al-Hummus, member of the Follow-up Committee in al-Eesawiyya, stated that the wounded Palestinian suffered a serious injury after the concussion grenade struck him directly in his front head.

The wounded man was moved to a local Palestinian hospital in occupied Jerusalem.

Abu al-Hummus said that, as dozens of Palestinians were attending a wedding in the center of al-Eesawiyya, dozens of soldiers and police officers invaded the town, and attacked the residents who were dancing and celebrating.

He added that another Palestinian narrowly escaped an Israeli military attack when the soldiers tried to ram him with their jeep.

Palestinian wedding interrupted by Israeli stun grenades, 1 hurt

A Palestinian man was injured late Friday after being hit by an Israeli stun grenade during a wedding east of Jerusalem, a local popular committee spokesman said.

Muhammad Abu al-Hummus told Ma'an that Israeli forces unexpectedly raided the village of al-Issawiya and fired stun grenades while crowds of Palestinians were participating in a traditional wedding march.

One man was hit directly in the forehead with a stun grenade and taken to the hospital, Abu al-Hummus said.

He added that no protests were taking place as the Israeli forces entered the town.

Injuries as Israel Disperses More Protests

Candlelight solidarity vigil held in Gaza

At least ten protesters were injured across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, on Friday, as dozens engaged in demonstrations marking the 47th anniversary of the Naksa, when the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights and the Sinai peninsula were illegally taken by Israel in 1967.

According to Ma'an News Agency, six Palestinians were injured and dozens suffered from excessive tear gas inhalation when Israeli forces opened fire on protestors in al-Arrub refugee camp north of Hebron.

In the central West Bank village of Bilin, two protesters were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and a photographer was assaulted by Israeli forces as they dispersed a rally, there.

Meanwhile, south of Hebron, protests were also violently dispersed in al-Fawwar refugee camp on Friday, as well. Dozens suffered from excessive tear gas inhalation in clashes in the camp.

In Jerusualem, dozens joined in demonstration at Damascus Gate in the Old City.

Sheikh Jamil Hamami of the Supreme Islamic Council, who organized the protest, told Ma'an that "Jerusalemites at this demonstration they are expressing loudly their refusal of Israeli occupation," and, to participants of the protest: "Send salutations to the prisoners of freedom and we support them..."

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem said that "Israel is trying to Judaize the humans and stones of Jerusalem and hide the city's Arab and Islamic features, but Jerusalem will remain the heart and the eternal capital of Palestine."

East Jerusalem was first occupied in 1967, by Israel, and annexed in 1981, in a move which is still not recognized by the international community. However, it has been reported that the Australian government has announced, recently, that it is to stop referring to East Jerusalem as occupied territory.

Dr. Hanan Ashrawi expressed her outrage at the news: "Trying to fabricate or distort the law to fit Israel's lawless behavior is shameful and dangerous. Attorney-General Brandis, whether out of ignorance or whether out of blind bias, is trying to render Australia complicit in the Israeli occupation, and is forcing it to become an advocate of international criminal behavior."

Ma'an further reports that Palestinian officials frequently condemn what they refer to as the "Judaization of Jerusalem", on the part of Israeli authorities, who they say engage in discriminating policies against Palestinian residents as they seek to encourage their departure from the city.

Such policies include the denial of construction and residency permits to Palestinian residents, while the construction of thousands of settlement homes is completely acceptable for Jews, in order that they might shift the demographic balance through such discimination.

A statement recently released by Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem has revealed that 60-80,000 Palestinian Jerusalem residents have been without running water for 3 months.

In related news, hundreds of Palestinians on Thursday night held a vigil at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in western Gaza City.

The vigil was organized in solidarity with the hundreds of prisoners who are now on hunger strike against Israel's administrative detention policies, in which people are held indefinitely, without charge or trial.

The prisoners have been on strike for more than 40 days, along with hundreds more who have since joined.

Farmland Burnt By Israeli Fire Near Bethlehem

Palestinian medical sources have reported that several Palestinians suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation, and one child was injured, during clashes with Israeli soldiers in front of the Ofer Israeli Prison, west of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and near the Qalandia terminal.

Eyewitnesses told the WAFA Palestinian news agency that the soldiers violently assaulted nonviolent protesters in front of the Ofer prison, leading to clashes between the soldiers and the protesters.

The army fired rubber-coated metal bullets and dozens of gas bombs, causing scores of Palestinians to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

Medical sources said the soldiers also kidnapped Maher Haroun, 17 years of age, and took him to an unknown destination.

The Radio Bethlehem 2000 has reported that clashes also took place near the Qalandia terminal, south of Ramallah, and that the soldiers fired several gas bombs, concussion grenades, and rubber-coated metal bullets.

Dozens of residents received treatment for the effects of tear gas inhalation.

In related news, soldiers attacked Palestinian protesters in Teqoua’ town, east of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, and fired gas bombs and concussion grenades at them.

Local sources said many bombs set off by the soldiers caused fire in dozens of dunams of farmlands planted with wheat barley and olive trees.

IOF bombs start fire in Taku village fields
Picture
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) fired teargas and sound bombs at agricultural fields in Taku village, east of Bethlehem, on Friday starting fire in vast tracts of cultivated land lots. Eyewitnesses told the PIC reporter that the soldiers deliberately fired the bombs toward those fields starting fire and damaging 45 dunums of land.

They said that fire gutted through the fields damaging more than 300 olive trees and wheat and barley crops to the west of the village.

Villagers, with the help of firefighters, managed to put off the fire after IOF soldiers delayed the arrival of the fire brigades.

Local sources said that several citizens were treated for breathing difficulty while others fainted due to the teargas inhalation during clashes with the IOF soldiers.

In another incident, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Bethlehem city organized after the Friday congregation a massive march in support of prisoners.

Participants carried Palestinian flags, banners of various factions, and photos of prisoners while calling on resistance to kidnap Israeli soldiers to trade them for Palestinian prisoners.

In Doheisha refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, IOF soldiers served summonses at dawn Saturday to two teenagers for intelligence interrogation after searching their homes.

Israeli Navy Attacks Palestinian Fishermen in Gaza
Picture
Israeli Navy boats have opened fire at Palestinian fishermen boats again, this time in the al-Sodania area, northwest of Gaza.

PNN correspondence has reported that the sounds of bombs and gun shootings were heard near the fishing boats, which were within the area of 6 miles officially allowed for Palestinians to fish in.

However, the Israeli Navy continues to follow them through the Gaza Sea, opening fire towards their boats, arresting them and preventing them from fishing.

Palestinian Medical sources reported no injuries.

Israel police raid Palestine TV studios
Picture
Israeli police raided the East Jerusalem studios of Palestine TV on Friday and briefly detained three staff for questioning, a spokeswoman said.

"Police carried out searches at the headquarters of the television channel, as part of an investigation into the content of its programm," spokeswoman Luba Samri told AFP.

"Three employees were arrested, questioned and released," she said, adding that "no programs were interrupted and the investigation is ongoing."

Israeli public radio said police suspected Palestine TV of broadcasting "incitements to violence."

A Palestinian media report online said two cameramen and one guest on the channel's "Good Morning Jerusalem" program were held for questioning.

Israeli soldiers raided the offices of a Palestinian newspaper in Ramallah on May 28, ordering it to stop printing publications by Islamist movement Hamas, managers said.

In December, the Foreign Press Association accused the Israeli army of "deliberately targeting" journalists after soldiers fired rubber bullets and threw stun grenades at photojournalists clearly identified as press.

The Tel Aviv-based group, which represents journalists of all foreign media, said troops had directly targeted a group of photographers covering clashes at the Qalandia checkpoint between Jerusalem and Ramallah.
10 injured as Israel disperses protests across West Bank
Ten Palestinians were injured including a photographer as dozens participated in protests across the West Bank and East Jerusalem on Friday to mark the 47th anniversary of Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.

Protesters in al-Arrub refugee camp north Hebron, in Bilin, west of Ramallah, in al-Fawwar refugee camp south of Hebron, and in Jerusalem's Old City gathered to mark Naksa Day, a commemoration of the 1967 Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights, and the Sinai peninsula, a day after similar protests in Hebron and at Qalandiya checkpoint.

Al-Arrub
Six Palestinians were injured and dozens suffered from excessive tear gas inhalation when Israeli forces opened fire on protestors in al-Arrub refugee camp north of Hebron.

Medics said that Mutaz Abu Shama, 22, was shot with a live bullet in his left foot, and taken to a hospital in Hebron for treatment during the clashes.

Six others were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and were treated on the scene.

Bilin

Two protesters were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and a photographer was assaulted by Israeli forces as they dispersed a rally in the central West Bank village of Bilin.

Palestinian and international activists marched to the separation wall as it passes through the village, chanting slogans in support of hundreds of hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons and against the occupation.

After chanting beside the wall for about 10 minutes, organizers said that Israeli soldiers began throwing tear gas canisters and sound grenades at the protesters, while special forces who had been hiding in the nearby hills came running to try to detain some of the protesters.

Organizers said that a number of jeeps shooting tear gas "indiscriminately" charged the crowd.

Villagers told organizers that two men from the area had been shot by the army, one twice and the other six times. Both were subsequently taken to the hospital, but their conditions were unknown.

Palestinian photographer Hamde Abu Rahma was "grabbed by soldiers and told to hand over his camera," organizers said in a statement, but he "was forced to the ground by 6 soldiers" who they said beat him with their guns in his stomach and chest.

The commander subsequently confiscated Abu Rahma's camera at gunpoint and took it for 30 minutes, during which time they deleted the photos and broke it, Abu Rahma told Ma'an.

Al-Fawwar

Protests were also violently dispersed in al-Fawwar refugee camp south of Hebron on Friday.

Dozens also suffered from excessive tear gas inhalation in clashes in al-Fawwar refugee camp.

Jerusalem

Dozens of Palestinians participated in a demonstration at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem's Old City marking the 47th anniversary of the occupation of the city by Israeli forces.

Sheikh Jamil Hamami, a member of the Supreme Islamic Council that organized the protest, told Ma'an that "Jerusalemites at this demonstration they are expressing loudly their refusal of Israeli occupation."

Sheikh Sabri, meanwhile, said that the participants, "send salutations to the prisoners of freedom and we support them," in reference to the more than 5,000 Palestinian prisoners currently in Israeli jails.

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Muhammed Hussein said that "Israel is trying to Judaize the humans and stones of Jerusalem and hide the city's Arab and Islamic features, but Jerusalem will remain the heart and the eternal capital of Palestine."

Israel occupied East Jerusalem in 1967 and annexed the area in 1981, in a move not recognized by the international community.

Palestinian officials frequently condemn what they refer to as the "Judaization of Jerusalem" on the part of Israeli authorities, who they say engage in policies that discriminate against Palestinian residents and seek to encourage their departure from the city.

This policy involves the denial of construction and long-term residency permits to Palestinian residents while allowing the construction of thousands of settlement homes for Jews in order to shift the demographic balance.
Watch: Israeli soldier knocked over by rolling tire
Picture
An Israeli soldier was knocked over by a rolling tire during clashes in the village of Beit Ummar on Friday.

During the clashes, two Palestinians were injured with rubber-coated steel bullets in the lower extremities, while dozens suffered from tear gas inhalation.

In a video published on the Facebook page of popular committee spokesman Muhammad Ayad Awad, meanwhile, an Israeli soldier is seen trying to stop a rolling tire by kicking it, which instead knocks him to the ground.

Palestinians watching the incident cheered as he fell over, with another soldier trying to stop the tire by throwing a rock at it, to no avail.

The soldier immediately gets up and tries to shrug off his embarrassment, aiming his gun at Palestinians filming the incident.
Israeli navy opens fire Palestinian fishing boats off Gaza coast
Picture
The Israeli navy on Friday morning attacked Palestinian fishing boats off al-Sudaniya shore, northwest of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli gunboats opened fire on the fishing boats while they were within the authorized six nautical miles. No injuries among the Palestinian fishermen have yet been reported, a police official told a PIC correspondent.

The Gazan fishermen are exposed to almost daily violations by the Israeli navy during their presence in Palestinian waters.

Many fishing boats have sustained damage or their owners have been kidnapped in previous incidents.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center said that the Israeli forces arrested four young men and assaulted and severely beat Um Ayman Al-Soos and also assaulted the participants once the march arrived at Nablus Street coming from Salah Eddin Street.

The forces assaulted Um Ayman and detained her for few minutes and then released her after she lost consciousness. The Calvary unit also had their role in assaulting the men and women participating in the march.
Soldiers Attack Nonviolent Protests In Hebron

PPP Political Bureau Member Kidnapped

Israeli soldiers attacked students holding a nonviolent protest in solidarity with the Palestinian political prisoners, in the center of Hebron city, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

Local sources said the protest was organized by the Hebron Defense Committee, and started from the al-Jaza’er School, heading towards the Old City.

The protest was almost instantly attacked by Israeli soldiers who fired gas bombs, and violently attacked several Palestinians with batons, causing various injuries.

The soldiers also chased the protesters in an attempt to kidnap them, and closed several roads in the city.

The army also attacked a nonviolent protest in the Old City of Hebron, and kidnapped Fahmi Shahin, member of the Political Bureau of the leftist Palestinian People Party (PPP).

Resident Imad Abu Shamsiyya, a volunteer with the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories (B’Tselem), stated that the soldiers attacked nonviolent protesters, and fired several gas bombs at them causing dozens to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The protests were held in solidarity with hunger striking Palestinian detainees, who are holding an open-ended hunger strike, and most of them started their strike 42 days ago, and are facing serious health complications.

The detainees are demanding an end to Israel’s illegitimate arbitrary detention policy, indefinitely holding hundreds of detainees without charges or trial.

They are also demanding decent living conditions, proper medical attention especially to detainees suffering from cancer, heart, liver and kidney diseases and various other serious illnesses, in addition to right to education, and an end to ongoing attacks against them and their visiting family members.

Administrative detainees are demanding their right to have their day in court, as they are held without charges or trial, in direct violation of all related international human rights treaties.

Upsurge in IOF attacks on Palestinian protesters, arbitrary arrest campaigns
Picture
Sweeping raid-campaigns were launched by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in Jenin and al-Khalil at dawn Thursday. Around 7 Palestinian civilians, including two children, were arrested while others were attacked following a peaceful solidarity march. According to local sources in Jenin, more than 20 Israeli military jeeps invaded Anza village and rounded up Ali Bassem Sabri Atyani, 18, after having rummaged through his family home.

The IOF broke into the house of Palestinian citizen Fadi Mahmoud Sadaka, 19, and summoned him for interrogation in Salem military camp after having searched his house, the same sources reported.

Israeli soldiers attacked the house of the two Palestinian brothers Ibrahim and Ahmad Amour and interrogated them on the spot, the sources further documented

According to local sources in al-Khalil, the IOF assaulted several Palestinian homes in Halhoul, north of the city, and turned them upside down, before arresting 5 Palestinian civilians, including children.

Palestinian teenager Fouad Manasra was rounded up and carried to an unknown destination by the IOF after having stormed Bani Na’im town.

A military checkpoint was erected at the Ziv crossroad in Yatta, south of al-Khalil, where Palestinian vehicles and IDs were provocatively inspected, leading to traffic congestion, sources at the scene further confirmed.

In another event, the IOF and settlers of the illegal Karmiel settlement, established io Palestinians’ lands south of al-Khalil ,threatened Umm al-Khair natives with deportation in case further fumes from the Tabun ovens, their only means of baking bread, are discharged.

In a related context, the IOF attacked a non-violent protest rally staged on Thursday in al-Khalil in solidarity with the administrative detainees and to mark the 47th Naksa anniversary. Heavy firing of sound bombs and tear gas canisters followed while Palestinian activists were assaulted, eye-witnesses told the PIC.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers stationed near Bab al-Zaouia and in the alleys of the Old City, the eye-witnesses added.

Clashes broke out at dawn Thursday following IOF break-ins into al-Aroub refugee camp, north of al-Khalil. Tear gas canisters and sound bombs were fired throughout, leading to breathing difficulties among women and children.

In another incident, Jerusalemite Youth Amir Sarsour on Wednesday was rushed to hospital after having been heavily beaten by a horde of extremist Israeli settlers while he was on his way to his workplace, bystanders at the scene stated.

Several Silwan natives were also arrested by the IOF as they voiced disapprovals of settler attacks launched on a Jerusalemite family and the random pepper spray, the Wadi Halwa Information Center reported.

Clashes erupt in al-Khalil and Ramallah, injuries reported
Picture
Five Palestinians were injured and dozens suffered breathing difficulties when Israeli occupation forces fired rubber bullets and tear gas bombs at Palestinian demonstrators outside Ofer prison in Ramallah afternoon Wednesday. A number of buses carrying Palestinian students from Birzeit University headed towards Ofer prison to participate in a sit-in in solidarity with administrative detainees, the PIC reporter said.

According to the PIC reporter, the students attacked the prison towers with stones, and threw a number of Molotov Cocktails at soldiers' rooms.

In their turn, IOF soldiers brutally intervened in an attempt to suppress the demonstration. Gas bombs were fired which led to several breathing difficulties among Palestinian female students.

In a related matter, a number of Palestinians have suffered breathing difficulties on Wednesday after Israeli forces suppressed a march organized in al-Khalil in solidarity with hunger strikers.

Eyewitnesses confirmed to the PIC correspondent that large numbers of Israeli forces fired tear gas bombs towards the participants who gathered at Ras Jura heading to Halhul Bridge in al-Khalil.

In response, violent clashes erupted between the IOF soldiers and Palestinian protesters who, for their part, threw stones and empty bottles at the soldiers.
