Video: Israeli soldiers watch settlers attack 2 Hebron minors
A group of Israeli settlers on Sunday attacked two Palestinian children in Hebron's Shuhada Street in front of Israeli soldiers, who did nothing to stop the attack, a local group said.

A local group known as Youth Against Settlements told Ma'an that 13-year-old Ahmad Hisham al-Azzah and Yazan Zeidan Sharabati were assaulted by a group of settlers in the southern West Bank city while the two were walking to their homes in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood.

The group later published a video showing the settlers attacking the Palestinian minors while soldiers looked on.

The video reveals that only after other Palestinians came to the scene to
defend the teenagers, Israeli soldiers intervened -- on the side of the settlers.

The soldiers then detained Yazan Sharabati and his father, Zeidan, accusing them of attacking Israeli soldiers.

The settlers, meanwhile, are not stopped by the Israeli soldiers.

The detained father and son were subsequently taken to a police station in the illegal Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba east of Hebron.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said that the pair had been detained for "hurling rock at soldiers" and had been taken for questioning.

They were released a few hours later after the Palestinian military liaison department and a lawyer representing Youth Against Settlements intervened.

Hebron is a frequent site of clashes due to the presence of 500 Israeli settlers in the Old City, many of whom have illegally occupied Palestinian houses and forcibly removed the original inhabitants. They are protected by thousands of Israeli forces.

Settlers and Israeli forces regularly target local Palestinians for harassment, and many have been forced from their homes as a result.

A 1997 agreement split Hebron into areas of Palestinian and Israeli control.

The Israeli military-controlled H2 zone includes the ancient Old City, home of the revered Ibrahimi Mosque -- also split into a synagogue referred to as the Tomb of the Patriarchs -- and the once thriving Shuhada street, now just shuttered shops fronts and closed homes.
Palestinians injured in settlers and IOF attack on Nablus village
Picture
A number of Palestinians were treated for breathing difficulty while a young man was hit with a bullet in his foot in confrontations in Beit Furik town, east of Nablus, on Monday. Eyewitnesses told the PIC reporter that the confrontation erupted after Jewish settlers attacked the eastern suburbs of the village and assaulted citizens’ property and houses under protection of Israeli occupation forces (IOF).

The sources said that the soldiers fired teargas and live bullets at the villagers injuring Mohammed Hanani in his foot while others suffered from breathing problems.

Jewish settlers have been targeting Beit Furik for the past few days under IOF protection triggering violent clashes with inhabitants.

Israeli forces launch limited incursion into northern Gaza
Picture
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) advanced on Monday morning into northern Gaza Strip and bulldozed Palestinian lands. Eyewitnesses confirmed that several Israeli bulldozers and military vehicles advanced to the east of Beit Hanoun town, northern Gaza Strip, where they conducted bulldozing operations in the area.

The Israeli incursion coincided with intensive over flights by reconnaissance planes and heavy gunfire, the sources added.

A Palestinian farmer was seriously injured earlier Monday after IOF soldiers opened fire at him east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza Strip.

Israeli violations to the calm agreement, reached between Israeli authorities and Palestinian resistance under Egyptian mediation, have led to the killing 18 Palestinians and wounding dozens while 60 fishermen were detained and many fishing boats were destroyed at sea or confiscated since the agreement was signed on November 21, 2012.

Picture
Israeli soldiers invaded various Palestinian communities in different parts of the occupied West Bank, and in occupied Jerusalem, violently searched homes after invading them, and kidnapped seventeen Palestinians.

Local sources in Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, said that dozens of soldiers invaded the city, and kidnapped several students, members of the Islamic Bloc at the Polytechnic University in the city.

Some of the kidnapped students have been identified as Mo’taz Abdo al-Haimouny, Anas Joudy Abu Hadeed, Ibrahim al-Awady, and Abdul-Hamid Shehada.

Most of them are former political prisoners who were previously held by Israel, and by the Palestinian security forces, sources at the Islamic Bloc said.

Furthermore, dozens of military jeeps invaded the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and kidnapped six Palestinians.

The soldiers broke into and searched several homes in the Khallet al-‘Amoud neighborhood, and kidnapped Mojahed al-Masry and Ayman Sweidan, while resident Samer Hashem was kidnapped at the University Street in the city.

The soldiers also handed resident Ammar Mona a military warrant ordering him to head to a nearby military base for interrogation.

Several military vehicles also invaded the Balata refugee camp, in Nablus, before the soldiers kidnapped resident Imad Khalil Walweel, 26, after breaking into his home and searching it.

Two more Palestinians, identified as Amjad Talal Ghazy, 17, and Abed Mohammad Awwad, 17, have also been kidnapped in Awarta village, east of Nablus.

In addition, soldiers invaded and searched several homes in the ath-Thoury, in Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem, and kidnapped three Palestinian teenagers.

The three have been identified as Mahmoud Ayman Abu Najma, 19, Majdy Omran Oweida, 18, and Omar Mazen Abu Khater, 18.

They were moved to the al-Maskobiyya detention and interrogation facility, west of Jerusalem.

On Sunday evening, Israeli soldiers kidnapped five Palestinians in three separate incidents in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and three Palestinians in Ya’bod village, near the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

The attacks and arrests are part of daily violations carried out by Israeli soldiers in different parts of the occupied Palestinian territories, including occupied East Jerusalem.

Three Palestinians Kidnapped Near Jenin
Picture
Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded the town of Ya’bod, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, detained several Palestinians and kidnapped three. Clashes have been reported between the invading soldiers and local youths.

Local sources have reported that six armored Israeli military vehicles and an armored personnel carrier invaded the town and advanced towards Yasser Arafat Elementary School, before clashing with dozens of local youths who hurled stones and empty bottles at them.

The soldiers fired dozens of gas bombs, concussion grenades, and rubber-coated metal bullets.

The sources added that the soldiers detained dozens of residents and inspected their ID cards before kidnapping three of them.

The three kidnapped Palestinians have been identified as Mohannad Ahmad Abu Bakr, 29, Majd Mahmoud Abu Bakr, 17, and Mohammad Mojahed Yassin, 15.

Soldiers also broke into a coffee shop in the town, detained and interrogated several Palestinians while inspecting their ID cards.

It is worth mentioning that the army invaded Ya’bod three times between noon and evening hours on Sunday.

Picture
Violent clashes erupted in Jenin on Sunday night when Israeli occupation forces stormed Ya'bad town and questioned a number of citizens after detaining them in a café. More than eight Israeli military vehicles stormed Ya'bad town and stationed at the town center. IOF soldiers detained a number of citizens in a café and prevented them from leaving.

The sources added that Palestinian youths threw stones and empty bottles at the invading forces who fired bullets and tear gas bombs. Nearly ten citizens suffered breathing problems after inhaling the tear gas.

Meanwhile, Palestinian youths stoned on Sunday night an Israeli military watchtower near Jalazoun refugee camp north of Ramallah, while Israeli soldiers fired rubber bullets and tear gas bombs to disperse the demonstrators.

Eyewitnesses reported that IOF reinforcements were deployed at Jalazoun entrance to chase the Palestinian youths.

Israeli military watchtowers near Jalazoun were responsible for the martyrdom of many Palestinians; most recently was the 15-year-old child, Wajih Ramahi, a month ago.

He added that the youth was transferred to Shifa hospital in Gaza city in view of the seriousness of his condition.

The incident came only two hours after Palestinian resistance blasted an Israeli army jeep east of southern Gaza with no casualties reported.

Palestinian Farmer Seriously Injured In Central Gaza

Palestinian medical sources have reported that a Palestinian farmer was shot, and seriously wounded, by Israeli military fire in the Abu Al-‘Ajeen area, southeast of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.

The sources said that the wounded farmer, 34 years of age, was shot by a live round to the chest, and was moved to the al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, suffering a serious injury.

Eyewitnesses said that the army opened fire at dozens of Palestinians after a loud explosion was heard in the area.

Israeli military sources claimed an explosive charge blew up near a military jeep patrolling the border area, close to a military base east of the al-Qarara town, northeast of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Several Israeli military vehicles arrived at the scene and used smoke bombs to retrieve the soldiers and the targeted military vehicle; the army reported no injuries among the soldiers.

In related news, a number of military vehicles carried out a limited invasion into the Beit Hanoun town, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, bulldozed and uprooted Palestinian lands in the area.

Last week, an explosive charge detonated near a military vehicle in the same area, causing no injuries among the soldiers, the army said.

FPJ: Israel fabricates claims about Gaza to justify the targeting of civilians
Picture
The forum of Palestinian journalists (FPJ) warned against the gravity of the media campaign that was launched recently by the Israeli occupation to prepare the world's public opinion to accept its justifications to bomb civilian areas and structures in any intended war on the Gaza Strip. In a press release on Sunday, the forum said that this campaign included alleged press remarks made by Israeli military officials and unnamed sources, amplifying the military capability of the Palestinian resistance and claiming that it uses mosque minarets to set up surveillance cameras to monitor the movement of the Israeli army in border areas.

The resistance is also propagated to cache its rockets and weapons in places beneath residential buildings and use civilian areas for its resistance activities, among other claims intended to justify Israel's intents to bomb mosques, populated areas and civilians.

The forum urged the Palestinian media outlets to launch counter campaigns exposing such Israeli media claims and provide the true picture of the situation in Gaza.

Worker Shot By Police, Minor Beaten By Settlers
Picture
Israeli police have shot a Palestinian man, aged 41, while he was in Israel for work, according to medical sources.

Director of the Red Crescent in Jenin, Mahmoud Saadi, said that Israeli police shot Abdullah Zyound, 41, from the village of Silat al-Harithiya, near Jenin, on Sunday, injuring him in his leg and arm during a pursuit of workers in Israel, the Palestine News & Info Agency (WAFA) has reported.

He was transferred from Salem military compound to the north east of Jenin, to a hospital, for medical treatment.

Israeli police rarely issue work permits for Palestinians to enter Israel.

WAFA also reports that, on Saturday night, Israeli settlers severally beat a 13-year-old Palestinian in central Hebron, according to the child’s father.

The father told WAFA that settlers assaulted Yazan al-Shirbati while he was passing near Beit Hadasa settlement, causing several bruises throughout his body.

He said that Israeli police arrested them both, following the incident, and detained them for five hours in Ja’bara police station, where police accused them of trying to assault the settlers and other soldiers.

They were later released after signing a pledge to appear before court if summoned.

In related news, WAFA reports that Israeli army soldiers, on Sunday, prevented cameramen working for WAFA and Associated Press from covering events in the village of Wad Rahhal, near Bethlehem, where settlers proceeded to raze a Palestinian-owned land.

WAFA’s correspondent said soldiers detained them for hours and attempted to seize their cameras in order to delete the photos they had taken of the event.

Also on Sunday, the Israeli army arrested two Palestinians from the West Bank cities of Bethlehem and Hebron, including the coordinator of the National Committee against Settlements and the Apartheid Wall, Hassan Brijiyeh, according to witnesses.

Brijiyeh was arrested while attempting, along with several other activists and village residents, to prevent Israeli settlers and soldiers from razing Palestinian land in an area near the village of Wad Rahhal, to the south of Bethlehem.

Israeli forces also arrested a 31-year-old from the village of Samu' to the south of Hebron after raiding and searching his home.

Settlers Attack Palestinian Child In Hebron
Picture
Israeli soldiers invaded various Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank, conducted military searches of homes and property, and kidnapped three Palestinians.

Local sources in Bethlehem have reported that the soldiers invaded a bakery in the Aida refugee camp, in Bethlehem, and searched it.

The soldiers kidnapped Ahmad Ma’moun, who works at the bakery, after breaking into his home and searching it.

Another resident was also kidnapped from his home in the Al-Obeydiyya town, near Bethlehem, and was taken to an unknown destination.

Furthermore, dozens of soldiers invaded the As-Samoa’ town, south of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, broke into homes and searched them, and kidnapped one Palestinian.

Local sources said that the soldiers broke into the home of resident Odah Al-Mahareeq, 31, and kidnapped him.

Also in Hebron, soldiers invaded Yatta town, south of the city, invaded several homes and searched them before handing a number of Palestinians military orders to head to a nearby military base for interrogation.

Furthermore, an Israeli military jeep installed a roadblock on a bypass road close to the Al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron, stopped and searched several Palestinian cars.

In related news, medical sources in Hebron said that a Palestinian child, identified as Yazan Zeidan Sharabaty, 13 years of age, was injured after being attacked by a number of fanatic Israeli settlers.

His father told the Palestinian News & Info Agency (WAFA) that a number of settlers of the Beit Hadassah illegal settlement, installed on Palestinian lands, assaulted his son as he was heading to a nearby bakery.

Following the attack, Israeli soldiers detained the father and his child, and moved them to a police station near Keryat Arba’ settlement in the city.

The Police alleged the father and his child “attempted to attack settlers and soldiers”; the two were released later on, but had to sign an affidavit to go to court if ordered.

Dozens of soldiers also invaded the Qabatia and Ejja towns, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, broke into and searched several homes.

Palestinian security sources in Qabatia said that the army invaded the homes of Nasser Khuzaymiyya and his brother, Makhzoom, and interrogated them and their families.

The sources added that the soldiers also invaded homes in Ejja town, and photographed their exterior and interior, before invading Jaba’ nearby town.

IOF soldiers raid Jenin villages, search houses
Picture
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed three villages, south of Jenin, at dawn Sunday and broke into homes and searched and ransacked them. Local sources told the PIC reporter that IOF soldiers in a number of army vehicles broke into Qabatiya village and burst into the homes of two brothers and forced all occupants out and searched them, wreaking havoc in their belongings.

The sources said that other IOF units raided Jaba village and searched the Fashafsha home and took pictures from its rooftop of various areas of the village.

They said IOF troops also raided the nearby Fundukmiya village and set up a roadblock at its entrance and searched all passing vehicles.

Ultra-Orthodox Jews hurl stones at Palestinian vehicles in Jerusalem
Picture
Dozens of ultra-Orthodox Jews hurled stones at cars traveling on route 1 highway in Jerusalem on Saturday evening, in what victims claimed were racially-motivated assaults targeting Palestinians.

Eyewitnesses told a Ma'an reporter that about 60 ultra-Orthodox Jewish men hurled rocks at vehicles driven by Palestinians with Israeli registration plates and assaulted a bicyclist before stealing his bike.

Muhammad Abu al-Hummus, a Palestinian Jerusalem resident whose vehicle was attacked, said that some of the attackers were hurling stones from balconies and windows while others were on the road itself.

Abu al-Hummus added that when his car was hit, he stopped and stepped out, but attackers continued to pelt him with stones injuring his foot.

Abu al-Hummus confirmed that a bicyclist was attacked with stones and his bike was stolen.

A group of Israeli troops and police horsemen arrived on the scene, Abu al-Hummus said, but they merely watched the assailants and did not intervene.

Abu al-Hummus said that the police told the victims to file complaints at Israeli police stations.

Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld told Ma'an that he had no reports of the incident, possibly because no complaint had been received.

There have been tensions in the past between ultra-Orthodox Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem and local Palestinian residents, specifically in the area of highway 1.

In addition, ultra-Orthodox Jews often protest against vehicular traffic on Saturday as they deem it to violate Jewish proscriptions on working on the Sabbath.

Extremists throw stones at the Jerusalemites’ cars

Picture
Jewish extremists attacked several Jerusalemites on Saturday night while passing in street number “1” in Jerusalem.

Mohammad Abu Hummus, one of those affected, said that dozens of Jewish extremists threw stones at Arabian cars while passing in street number “1” in Jerusalem; note that some of them were throwing stones from their homes and others were standing in the street. After a stone hit Mohammad’s car, he stopped and got out and was then hit with another stone in his leg.

The extremists also threw stones at a young man riding his bike and then stole it from him.

Several other Jerusalemites were terrified especially children after the stones were had directly hit their cars.

He explained that the police individuals and borders police arrived at the area and told one of those affected to file a claim.

Settlers attack Palestinian farmers in Beit Ummar
Picture
Israeli settlers take pictures of an elderly Palestinian shepherd after he was pushed on the ground near the southern hills of the West Bank city of Hebron on Jan. 25, 2014

Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian farmers and their families in the Wadi Abu al-Reesh area in the southern West Bank near Beit Ummar on Saturday evening, a local spokesperson said.

Muhammad Ayyad Awad, a spokesman for Beit Ummar's local committee against settlement activities, told Ma'an that settlers wearing masks and white uniforms threw stones at farmers and swore at them both in Arabic and Hebrew.

Awad highlighted that some of the attackers carried rifles.

The farmers had to leave their fields immediately because many of them were accompanied by their children and they were worried for their safety, added Awad.

Israeli troops arrived, he said, to protect the attackers.

The soldiers watched as settlers vandalized olive trees and instead of stopping them, the soldiers inspected the identity cards of the Palestinian farmers and prevented them from taking photos with their mobile phones.

The mayor of Beit Ummar Nasri Sabarnah arrived along with officers from the Palestinian military liaison who documented the attack and received an official complaint from the mayor.

In 2012, there were 353 incidents of settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Over 90 percent of investigations into settler violence by Israeli police fail to lead to an indictment.

More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.

The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.

Israeli forces fire towards residential area in Shijaiyeh
Picture
Israeli occupation forces(IOF) on Saturday evening opened gunfire towards citizens’ houses lying in al-Shijaiyeh neighborhood east of  Gaza City.  According to ALRAY correspondent, the eastern borders of  Shijaiyeh witnessed unusual movement of Israeli military vehicles, coupled with shooting fires towards the west area.

Earlier on the same day, the IOF fired shells towards east of the Khan Younis governorate town of al-Qarara and towards fishing boats off the Gaza City coast.

Local media reported that machine guns of the Israeli artillery in the vicinity of the Ahrash outpost east of al-Qarara opened fire toward agricultural land of the bordering town.

No one was reported injured in the firing.

The escalation comes amid Israeli threats directed to Gaza with a full-scale offensive, while the later says it's committed to maintaining Egypt-mediated cease-fire agreement which followed an eight-day aggression that led to 167 Palestinians mostly civilians killed.
