Palestine confirmed Monday night eight new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories to 532.
Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced that eight Palestinians tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the southern West Bank district of Hebron.
The eight new cases were identified as three Palestinian workers who work inside Israel and five others who came in contact with them.
Six of the eight cases are residents of As-Samou' town, south of Hebron city, another as a resident of Hebron city and another as a resident of Adh-Dhahiriya city, southwest of Hebron city.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths among Palestinians in the diaspora has risen to 1,275 and 68 respectively, while 512 Palestinian patients in the diaspora have recovered so forth.
Providing more details, the ministry said that six more Palestinians were infected with the deadly virus in the US states of Florida, New Jersey and Michigan.
It also announced the first death due to COVID-19 among the Palestinian community in the US. The fatality was identified as an elderly man, in his 70s, who resides in Florida.
In Norway, the ministry confirmed that another Palestinian expatriate tested positive for the virus, raising the total confirmed cases among the Palestinian community in this country to 10. Their health condition was described as stable.
According to the ministry statement, the first two novel coronavirus cases were confirmed among the Palestinian community in Belarus. They were identified as a Palestinian expatriate and his daughter.
Palestine confirms two new coronavirus cases
Palestine confirmed Monday evening two new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories to 524.
Speaking in the daily evening briefing in Ramallah, Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh said that one Palestinian in As-Samou' town, south of Hebron city, and another in Jerusalem city tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
She added that 25 COVID-19 patients have recovered at the ministry-run quarantine centers. They included 15 patients in Ramallah, seven others in Bethlehem, three others in the Hebron-district town of Halhul and 12 others in Jerusalem city.
She noted that the condition of all current patients was stable and that none was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and that the current number of active patients still infected with the virus totaled 389 in the northern governorates, including 219 cases in Jerusalem, and 5 cases in the southern governorates.
She also noted that Palestinian workers in Israel and Israeli colonial settlements infected with the deadly virus and others who contracted the virus through coming in contact with them accounted for 75 percent of the total number of confirmed cases.
She pointed out that 1,136 suspected cases were placed in ministry-run quarantine centers, raising the current total number of cases in quarantine to 15,179, while some 40,000 suspected cases were released from home quarantine.

The second batch of Palestinians who were stuck in Jordan are expected to return to their West Bank homes today after Jordan has opened al-Karama/King Hussein/Allenby bridge crossing specially for their return, according to Nazmi Muhanna, director of the crossings in the Palestinian Authority.
He said in a statement that while 350 Palestinians returned home yesterday, it is expected that around 500 will return today and more in the coming couple of days before all those stuck in Jordan due to the coronavirus outbreak are able to come home.
Arrivals get checked at the crossing to make sure they are not infected with the coronavirus disease and are then ordered to stay in the homes for 14 days as an extra precaution.

500 passengers representing the first batch of Palestinians who have gone stranded outside the country as a result of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis, arrived today at the Karama Border Crossing in Jericho, near the border with Jordan.
Col. Mustafa Dawabsheh, director of the Karama Border Crossing police, said the crews of the Ministry of Health embarked on conducting the necessary coronavirus tests to the passengers before they can return home for a 14-day precautionary quarantine.
He said 2000 other stranded Palestinian passengers are scheduled to return back to Palestine in groups during the following days.

Over 991 native Palestinians in Israel have been tested for the novel COVID-19 (coronavirus) ever since the outbreak of the pandemic in Israel in February, today said the emergency committee in charge of monitoring the coronavirus crisis in the native Arab communities in Israel.
The committee said 148 active cases are in the town of Deir al-Asad, 103 in the town of Hura, 19 in Majd al-Krum, 79 in Um al-Fahm, 57 in Rahat, 49 in Tayibe, 43 in Jisr az-Zarqa, 34 in Bi'ina, and 32 in Daburiyya.
To date, 16,193 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Israel, which occupies the Palestinian territories, according to the Israeli Ministry of Health. 9,634 patients have recovered and 230 others have died.
The committee said 148 active cases are in the town of Deir al-Asad, 103 in the town of Hura, 19 in Majd al-Krum, 79 in Um al-Fahm, 57 in Rahat, 49 in Tayibe, 43 in Jisr az-Zarqa, 34 in Bi'ina, and 32 in Daburiyya.

The ministry said two Palestinians died from the disease in the United States during the past 24 hours, bringing up the number in the US to 44 and the total worldwide to 67.

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila confirmed today three more cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Jerusalem, which brings up the total number of confirmed cases in the Palestine to 520.
Speaking during the daily briefing on the coronavirus pandemic in Ramallah, Alkaila said the three cases were in the occupied Jerusalem neighborhoods of Beit Hanina, Wadi al-Jouz, and the Old City.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine, the total number of active cases has reached 413, with 63 percent of the patients residing in Jerusalem Governorate.
Alkaila added that there were a total of 103 recoveries, including 44 in Jerusalem representing 42 percent of the total recoveries in Palestine.
She said 33,800 coronavirus tests have been conducted by the ministry since the outbreak of the pandemic in Palestine, and that 14,840 people are currently under home quarantine.
Speaking during the daily briefing on the coronavirus pandemic in Ramallah, Alkaila said the three cases were in the occupied Jerusalem neighborhoods of Beit Hanina, Wadi al-Jouz, and the Old City.

Speaking during the daily briefing on the coronavirus pandemic in Ramallah, Alkaila announced that eight of the ten cases were registered in the village of Beit Liqya, in Ramallah Governorate, for a Palestinian worker who just returned from Israel and for seven of his family members who had contact with him.
The two other cases were registered in the nearby village of Kharbatha al-Misbah and in the town of Anata, near Jerusalem, respectively.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine, the total number of active cases has reached 411, with almost 63 percent of the patients residing in Jerusalem Governorate.

As for the other five cases, she identified two of them as residents of the Jerusalem neighborhood of Shufat, another as a resident of the Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Issawiya, another as a resident of Beit Safafa and another as a resident of the Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Tur.

Palestine confirmed Tuesday evening six new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories to 501.
Speaking in the daily briefing in Ramallah, Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh said that one Palestinian in Bir Nabala town, northeast of Jerusalem, tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
She identified the other five cases as that of two Palestinians in the Ras Khamis area in Shufat refugee camp, two others in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, and another in Jerusalem’s Old City.
She added that the number of active COVID-19 cases in the occupied territories was 402, including six cases in the southern governorates, 255 cases in Jerusalem governorate.
The 255 cases in Jerusalem governorate include 132 cases inside the Israeli-imposed borders of Jerusalem.
She elaborated that the health ministry has conducted 30,500 tests since the pandemic outbreak, and set up another testing laboratory in Hebron governorate, raising total of six accredited testing laboratories to six, which have the capacity to carry out 5,000 tests on a daily basis.
