136 new coronavirus cases confirmed in West Bank

Palestine confirmed today evening 136 new cases of coronavirus in the West Bank, bringing total in one day to 195 and overall total in Palestine to 2248, said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila in a statement.

Of the 136 new cases, 109 were recorded in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, 23 in Nablus, and four in occupied Jerusalem.

According to the Minister, 621 of the total cases have recovered and seven have died leaving the total active cases so far at 1620.

Government confirms 59 new coronavirus cases

Minister of Health, Mai al-Kaileh, confirmed on Sunday morning 59 new cases of COVID-19, which brings up the total cases registered so far to 2112.

She said 34 of the cases were in Hebron governorate, south of the West Bank, while 10 were in Jerusalem, three in Bethlehem, one in Nablus and another in Ramallah.

The Health Minister said the latest figures raise the total number of cases confirmed since the outbreak of the pandemic in Palestine to 2112, of which 1484 are still active.

Last night, al-Kaileh pointed out that 11 patients were in a critical condition, and were moved to the intensified care unit. In additon, she said yesterday that two of the 11 cases were connected to a respirator due to having a breathing difficulty.

Two deaths, 258 infections reported amid virus spike in West Bank

Two Palestinians died, and 258 new infections were reported in the West Bank on Saturday amid escalation in the COVID-19 crisis in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Authority Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila on Saturday announced that two COVID-19 patients, from al-Khalil and Jerusalem, died: A man in his seventies, and a young woman who was already suffering from chronic diseases.

Al-Kaila called on Palestinian residents in the West Bank to abide by the movement restrictions and safety measures announced by the Ministry of Health to help contain the spread of coronavirus.

She added that on Saturday alone, 258 new COVID-19 cases were detected in several West Bank areas, bringing the total number of infections since the crisis started to 2053, 620 of whom have recovered and 6 died.

Palestine confirms 191 more cases of COVID-19

Minister of Health, Mai al-Kaileh, confirmed today evening 191 new cases of COVID-19, which brings up the total cases registered today to 258.

She said 179 of the cases were in Hebron governorate, south of the West Bank, while 10 were in Nablus and two in Jenin.

The Health Minister said the latest figures raise the total number of cases confirmed since the outbreak of the pandemic in Palestine to 2053, of which 1427 are still active.

In addition, al-Kaileh pointed out that a woman and a man died from COVID-19 in the occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of Ras al-Amoud and in Hebron respectively, which brings up the total COVID-19 deaths confirmed so far in Palestine to seven.

She noted that 11 of the total active cases are in a critical condition, and are in the intensified care unit, adding that two of the 11 cases were connected to a respirator.

Coronavirus cases in Palestine top 200 in one day, reach 1795, says health minister

Another 75 coronavirus cases were confirmed tonight in Palestine, raising today's total to 207 and the overall total in Palestine to 1795, said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.

Of the new 75 cases, 36 were in the southern West Bank Hebron district, the new epicenter of the disease in Palestine, 32 in occupied East Jerusalem and seven in the Nablus district in the north of the West Bank.

The minister said 11 coronavirus patients in Hebron, Bethlehem and Nablus are in critical condition in intensive care; two of them are on respirators.

Total recoveries were 620, and with five deaths, active cases stand at 1170.

Of the total coronavirus cases, 1485 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 238 in East Jerusalem.

Of the 620 recovered cases, 390 are in the West Bank, 56 in the Gaza Strip, and 174 in East Jerusalem.

Of the five deaths, two were in the West Bank, two in Jerusalem and one in the Gaza Strip.

Minister of Health: 20 new coronavirus cases in West Bank raise total in Palestine to 1588

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said tonight that 20 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the West Bank, raising today's total to 54 and overall total in Palestine to 1588.

She said 18 of the 20 cases were in Hebron district while the other two in Ramallah.

Alkaila said four patients have recovered, raising total recoveries to 620 in Palestine, which includes the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, leaving active cases at 963. Five have died.

Palestine confirms 34 new coronavirus cases

Palestine today confirmed 34 new novel coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories to 1,568.

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila announced in a press conference that that 23 of the 34 cases were residents of the new pandemic epicenter, the southern West Bank district of Hebron.

Providing more details on the Hebron-district cases, she said that seven cases were recorded in Beit Ar-Rush village, six others in Taffuh town, another in Ash-Shuyukh town, two others in Hebron city, two others in Yatta town and five others in Halhul town.

She added that ten other cases were recorded in Bethlehem district, while one case was recorded in Nablus district.

According to the latest coronavirus data, out of the 1,568 cases, 1,290 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 206 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries has reached 616 total, including 442 in the West Bank and Gaza and 174 in East Jerusalem, leaving a total of 947 active cases. The death toll still stood at five.

With 17 new coronavirus cases in West Bank, total for the day reaches 159; Palestine 1534

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said tonight that 17 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the West Bank making the total since the morning 159 and the overall total in Palestine 1534.

She said in a statement that 16 of the new cases were in Hebron, the current epicenter of the disease in Palestine, and one in Tulkarm.

A total of 616 have recovered and five have died, which makes current active cases stand at 913.

Another surge in coronavirus cases in West Bank raises total in Palestine to 1517

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 142 new novel coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, raising total in Palestine to 1,517.

She announced in a press release that 112 of the 142 cases were residents of the new pandemic epicenter, the southern West Bank district of Hebron.

She added that 13 other cases were recorded in Kafr Aqab town, north of Jerusalem, 11 others in Bethlehem district, three others in Salfit district and three others in Nablus district.

According to the latest coronavirus data, out of the 1,517 cases, 1,311 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 206 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have reached 616 total, including 442 in the West Bank and Gaza and 174 in East Jerusalem, leaving a total of 896 active cases.

Health Minister: 12 new corona cases in West Bank raising total in Palestine to 1196

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 12 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the occupied West Bank, bringing today's total to 168 and the overall number of cases in Palestine to 1196.

She said in a statement that three cases were recorded in the city of Hebron, one in nearby Dura and eight in Bethlehem in the south of the West Bank.

Out of the total cases, 929 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 195 in occupied East Jerusalem.

Total of 597 have recovered in Palestine, including 385 in the West Bank has, 57 in the Gaza Strip and 155 in East Jerusalem.

Five deaths were recorded – two in West Bank, two in East Jerusalem and one in Gaza.

Fourteen new coronavirus cases confirmed in West Bank, bringing total in one day to 156

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today evening that 14 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the occupied West Bank district of Hebron, bringing the total in one day to 156 and the overall total in Palestine to 1184.

Five deaths were recorded – two in West Bank, two in East Jerusalem and one in Gaza.

Sixty new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Hebron

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 60 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the occupied West Bank district of Hebron, bringing the total in one day to 142 and the overall total in Palestine to 1170.

Three cases from Qalqilia have recovered, said the statement, bringing the total number of patients who have recovered in Palestine to 597.

Five deaths were recorded – two in West Bank, two in East Jerusalem and one in Gaza.

In another surge in corona numbers in Palestine, 82 new cases reported in West Bank

In an another surge in the numbers of coronavirus cases in Palestine, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 84 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the occupied West Bank, bringing the overall total number of cases in Palestine to 1110.

She said in a statement that 63 cases were recorded in the Hebron-district village of Tafouh and 10 others in the same district, and four in Bethlehem in the south of the West Bank, two in Ramallah, and three in Nablus in the north of the West Bank.

Out of the total cases, 843 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 195 in occupied East Jerusalem.

Out of the 594 have recovered in Palestine, including 383 in the West Bank has, 56 in the Gaza Strip and 155 in East Jerusalem.

Five deaths were recorded – two in West Bank, two in East Jerusalem and one in Gaza.

Six new coronavirus cases confirmed in West Bank

Six new coronavirus cases were confirmed today evening in the West Bank, bringing the total in one day to 49 cases and the overall total in Palestine to 1028, according to Ministry of Health.

The ministry said five cases were confirmed in Hebron and one in Nablus.

According to the Ministry, 594 of the total cases have recovered and five have died leaving the total active cases so far at 429.

Palestine confirms 43 more cases of COVID-19, total hits 1022

Minister of Health, Mai al-Kaileh, confirmed today 43 more cases of COVID-19 in the West Bank, which brings up the total cases confirmed since the outbreak of the pandemic in Palestine to 1022.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Ibrahim Milhem, the government spokesman, she said 41 of the 43 cases were in the district of Hebron, the worst affected region of Palestine, whereas the other two were in the districts of Nablus and Tulkarm.

She said a total of 2350 random coronavirus tests were conducted during the past 24 hours, of which the aforementioned 43 cases came put positive.
Al-Kaileh noted that all the active cases are in a good condition, with the exception of one case which is placed in the intensified care unit.

The Health Minister pointed out that all the isolation and quarantine centers in all the governorates of Palestine were reopened in preparation for any emergency. She called on private and non-governmental hospitals to also be ready for any emergency.

Meanwhile, al-Kailed said 270 Palestinians who have been stranded in Egypt as a result of the pandemic arrived in Jordan prior to their transport to the West Bank via the Karama (Allenby) border crossing, where all of the arrivals will be tested for COVID-19.

She stated that those who come out positive will be quarantined at the isolation centers of the Ministry.  


In the meantime, Milhem said the government has adopted a policy of making a balance between the health and economic needs, under which only affected villages or towns and not the rest of the province or country will be locked down.
