Palestine confirms new coronavirus fatality

Palestine Monday morning confirmed a new coronavirus fatality, raising the total death toll in the occupied territories since the pandemic outbreak to 21.

Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced in a press statement that a Palestinian, in his 60s, died due to the novel coronavirus at Dura Government Hospital.

The fatality was identified as a resident of the southern West Bank district of Hebron.


She added that eight coronavirus patients remain in the intensive care units, including three who remain connected to respirators.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 4,722.

Out of the 4,722 cases, 4,205 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 445 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 665, including 491 in the West Bank and Gaza and 174 in East Jerusalem, leaving a total of 4,036 active cases.

The total confirmed cases in Hebron have totaled 3,247, including 3,146 active cases.

Total coronavirus cases in Palestine reached 4722 following confirmation of 472 new cases in the last 24 hours, 264 of them since noon today, according to the Ministry of Health.

It said that 216 cases were in the Hebron district, the new epicenter of the pandemic in Palestine, 44 in the Jerusalem district, three in the Ramallah area and one in Nablus district.

In addition, nine patients have recovered in the Nablus district bringing the total recoveries to 665 in Palestine, which includes East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

A total of 20 Palestinians have died from the disease, including 15 in the West Bank, most of them in the Hebron district, four in Jerusalem and one in the Gaza Strip.

With the sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases in Palestine, President Mahmoud Abbas declared today a 30-day state of emergency to help the government deal with the pandemic.

Palestine confirms 208 new coronavirus cases, one death

The Ministry of Health announced today that 208 people were tested positive for coronavirus in the West Bank, and that a woman died from the disease.

Minister of Health, Mai al-Kaileh, said an old woman in her seventies died from the virus in al-Fawwar refugee camp, near Hebron, which brings today's toll to three and the overall death toll to 20.

A statement by the Ministry of Health said 185 of the new cases were in Hebron governorate, 11 in Bethlehem, 10 in Nablus, and two in Tulkarm.

The ministry pointed out that the latest figures bring up the total cases confirmed since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine to 4458, including 3783 active cases.

A total of 19 recoveries were also registered today, including 18 in Nablus and one in Jenin.

Minister of Health Mai al-Kaileh confirmed today two deaths from coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Hebron governorate, an epicenter of the disease south of the occupied West Bank.

She said with the death of the two, who had been suffering from chronic diseases, the coronavirus death toll in Palestine has reached 19.

Meanwhile, al-Kaileh told official Palestine TV that the Ministry of Health will recommend an extension of the current 5-day lockdown in Palestine, as the pandemic situation necessitates such extension.

She said that out of the total coronavirus infections in the country, 50 are medical staff who contracted the disease during treatment of patients at hospitals.

Al-Kaileh urged all people to adhere to the safety and prevention protocols and the home quarantine in order not to reach a point of no return or lose control over the situation.

The official pointed out that three of the total cases are currently connected to a respirator, adding that the total number of respirators available in Palestine is 350, and most of which are occupied. She said 150 new respirators are expected to arrive in Palestine soon.

Palestine confirms 237 new coronavirus cases

The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday night that 237 people were tested positive for coronavirus in the West Bank, bringing today's total cases to 561.

It said 173 of the new cases were in Hebron governorate, 33 in Jerusalem, 28 in Bethlehem, two in Nablus, and one in Ramallah.

The ministry pointed out that the latest figures bring up the total cases confirmed since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine to 4250, including 3597 active cases.

The number of recoveries stood at 637, while the death toll stood at 16.

One new death from coronavirus, 324 cases recorded in Palestine in the last 12 hours

A new coronavirus-related death and 100 new cases were recorded in Palestine this morning in addition to 224 new cases since last night, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, which brings the overall total of coronavirus cases in Palestine since early March to 4013.

It said 60 of the new cases were in Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem, 98 in the city of Hebron in the south of the West Bank, where the new death of an elderly woman was confirmed and most the recent cases, in addition to other locations throughout the West Bank.

With 637 recovered throughout Palestine, that is in East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza Strip, and 16 deaths the active cases stood at 3360.

Broken down by region, the West Bank has 3525 cases, the Gaza Strip 72 and East Jerusalem 416. Recoveries included 403 in the West Bank, 60 in the Gaza Strip and 174 in East Jerusalem. Deaths: 11 in West Bank, four in East Jerusalem and one in the Gaza Strip.

UPDATE | Ministry of Health confirms 204 coronavirus cases, two deaths

The Ministry of Health confirmed today evening two deaths from coronavirus and 204 new cases in the West Bank, bringing the total deaths in Palestine to 15 and the total infections to 3689.

The Ministry said a woman died from the novel disease at the Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem, while an old woman died from the same disease in the town of Shuyukh, near Hebron in the south of the occupied West Bank.

It pointed out that the latest cases bring up the total deaths registered today to four, and the overall deaths registered since the outbreak of the pandemic in Palestine to 15.

Meanwhile, the Ministry confirmed 204 new cases, including 165 in Hebron, 26 in Jerusalem, eight in Nablus, two in Jericho, one in Qalqilia, one in Bethlehem, and one in Ramallah.

It added that the latest figures raise the total active cases in Palestine to 3037, while the number of recoveries stood at 637.

Palestine confirms 68 new coronavirus cases, one fatality

Palestine Friday morning confirmed 68 new coronavirus cases and one fatality, raising the total number of confirmed cases and the death toll in the occupied territories since the pandemic outbreak to 3,485 and 13 respectively.


The Health Ministry announced a woman, 68, from Adh-Dhahiriya town, southwest of Hebron, the new epicenter of the pandemic, died to the virus, and that 68 new cases were recorded in various West Bank district.

Out of the 68 new cases, 41 cases were recorded in Hebron district, 26 others in Bethlehem district besides to one in Ramallah and al-Bireh district.

The Ministry also confirmed three recovery cases in the besieged Gaza Strip, raising the total recovery cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) to 637.

Out of the 3,485 cases, 3,076 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 337 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have reached 637 total, including 463 in the West Bank and Gaza and 174 in East Jerusalem, leaving a total of 2,835 active cases.

Palestine confirms new coronavirus fatality

Palestine Friday overnight confirmed a new coronavirus fatality, raising the total death toll in the occupied territories since the pandemic outbreak to 12.


The Health Ministry announced that a Palestinian, in his 80s, from the southern West Bank district of Hebron died due to the novel coronavirus.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 3,417.

Out of the 3,417 cases, 3,008 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 337 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have reached 634 total, including 460 in the West Bank and Gaza and 174 in East Jerusalem, leaving a total of 2,722 active cases.
