Palestine Monday morning confirmed a new coronavirus fatality, raising the total death toll in the occupied territories since the pandemic outbreak to 21.
Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced in a press statement that a Palestinian, in his 60s, died due to the novel coronavirus at Dura Government Hospital.
The fatality was identified as a resident of the southern West Bank district of Hebron.
She added that eight coronavirus patients remain in the intensive care units, including three who remain connected to respirators.
According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 4,722.
Out of the 4,722 cases, 4,205 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 445 in East Jerusalem.
Recoveries have totaled 665, including 491 in the West Bank and Gaza and 174 in East Jerusalem, leaving a total of 4,036 active cases.
The total confirmed cases in Hebron have totaled 3,247, including 3,146 active cases.

Total coronavirus cases in Palestine reached 4722 following confirmation of 472 new cases in the last 24 hours, 264 of them since noon today, according to the Ministry of Health.
It said that 216 cases were in the Hebron district, the new epicenter of the pandemic in Palestine, 44 in the Jerusalem district, three in the Ramallah area and one in Nablus district.
In addition, nine patients have recovered in the Nablus district bringing the total recoveries to 665 in Palestine, which includes East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
A total of 20 Palestinians have died from the disease, including 15 in the West Bank, most of them in the Hebron district, four in Jerusalem and one in the Gaza Strip.
With the sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases in Palestine, President Mahmoud Abbas declared today a 30-day state of emergency to help the government deal with the pandemic.

She said that out of the total coronavirus infections in the country, 50 are medical staff who contracted the disease during treatment of patients at hospitals.
Al-Kaileh urged all people to adhere to the safety and prevention protocols and the home quarantine in order not to reach a point of no return or lose control over the situation.
The official pointed out that three of the total cases are currently connected to a respirator, adding that the total number of respirators available in Palestine is 350, and most of which are occupied. She said 150 new respirators are expected to arrive in Palestine soon.

It said 173 of the new cases were in Hebron governorate, 33 in Jerusalem, 28 in Bethlehem, two in Nablus, and one in Ramallah.
The ministry pointed out that the latest figures bring up the total cases confirmed since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine to 4250, including 3597 active cases.
The number of recoveries stood at 637, while the death toll stood at 16.

A new coronavirus-related death and 100 new cases were recorded in Palestine this morning in addition to 224 new cases since last night, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, which brings the overall total of coronavirus cases in Palestine since early March to 4013.

The Ministry said a woman died from the novel disease at the Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem, while an old woman died from the same disease in the town of Shuyukh, near Hebron in the south of the occupied West Bank.
