Soldiers Invade An Area In Jabalia, In Northern Gaza
Picture
A number of Israeli military vehicles invaded on Thursday evening [April 24, 2014] the Eastern Graveyard Area, east of Jabalia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, and clashed with resistance fighters who targeted a vehicle with a shell.

Eyewitnesses said that one soldier was injured during the invasion, and that a military helicopter landed in the area, apparently to move the wounded soldier to hospital.

They added that the army fired dozens of rounds of live ammunition at local homes, and farmlands in the area, and that the soldiers also fired one artillery shell; damage was reported, no injuries.

Soldiers frequently conduct limited military invasions into areas close to the border, in the besieged and impoverished coastal region.

On Thursday morning, several armored Israeli military vehicles invaded Palestinian farmland east of al-Qarara town, northeast of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, bulldozed and uprooted the invaded lands, and opened fire at nearby homes and structures.

Israeli military attacks include frequent targeting of Palestinian fishermen and their boats in Palestinian territorial waters, leading to dozens of casualties and arrests.

One soldier slightly injured in blast during Gaza incursion

One Israeli soldier suffered a moderate injury when a Palestinian homemade explosive device detonated on Thursday evening at an infiltrating military armored vehicle near the eastern cemetery to the north of the Gaza Strip, according to Hebrew media sources. Eyewitnesses also reported that they saw an Israeli military vehicle aflame after it drove over an explosive device planted by the Palestinian resistance near the eastern cemetery.

They added that the explosion happened during an Israeli military incursion into the area.

Following the incident, the Israeli artillery bombed the area amid military overflights and intensive gunfire.

Israeli forces open fire after northern Gaza explosion

An explosive device was detonated on the Gaza border on Thursday evening in an attack apparently targeting patrolling Israeli soldiers, the Israeli military said.

The explosion occurred east of Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip, and Israeli forces subsequently opened fire in the area after the explosion.

Witnesses said the incident occurred near the eastern cemetery in Jabaliya.

Spokesman for the Gaza Strip Ministry of Health Ashraf al-Qidra said that no injuries arrived in any hospitals.

The events come a day after Israeli forces bombed the northern Gaza Strip, injuring twelve Palestinians during a strike that took place as Hamas and Fatah announced a major reconciliation deal.

Palestinian militant groups on the ground responded by firing three rockets into Israel, which landed without causing any injuries or damage.

Israeli military: 3 rockets from Gaza Strip hit southern Israel
Picture
Three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel on Wednesday, causing no injuries or damage, the Israeli military said.

The rocket attacks come hours after Israel bombed the northern Gaza Strip, injuring seven Palestinians in what an Israeli military spokesman called a "counter terror operation" that did not hit its target.

The rockets were fired from Gaza towards Hof Ashkelon and the Shaar HaNegev regional council, the Israeli military said in a statement.

"One rocket hit the Erez Crossing compound," the statement added.

The Israeli bombing occurred during a Gaza City press conference announcing a major reconciliation deal between the Palestinian Liberation Organization and Hamas.

Army: 7 Gaza rockets hit southern Israel
Picture
Five rockets fired from the Gaza Strip hit southern Israel early Monday, Israel's military said.

An Israeli army spokesman told Ma'an that three rockets landed in the Shaar HaNegev regional council and two landed in Sderot, with no reports of damage or injuries.

Israeli news site Ynet report that one rocket landed on a road near a market stall, causing minor damages.

Although Hamas -- which runs the Gaza Strip -- and Israel have maintained a fragile ceasefire since Nov. 2012, militant groups in the besieged Palestinian coastal enclave frequently launch rockets into Israel.

The majority of these attacks, which primarily involve homemade projectiles, land harmlessly in open areas across southern Israel.

Israel has maintained a severe economic blockade on the Gaza Strip's 1.7 million residents since 2006.

The blockade has severely limited the imports and exports of the Gaza Strip and has led to frequent humanitarian crises and hardship for Gazans.

Seven rockets fired from the Gaza Strip hit southern Israel early Monday, Israel's military said.

An Israeli army spokesman told Ma'an that three rockets landed in the Shaar HaNegev regional council and two landed in Sderot, with no reports of damage or injuries.

A further two rockets landed in the Eshkol regional council.

An anti-tank missile was also fired at Israeli soldiers patrolling a border area in the southern Gaza Strip, the spokesman added, with no reports of injuries or damage.

Fighters Fire A Shell At An Israeli Military Vehicle In Central Gaza
Picture
Palestinian fighters fired a shell at an Israeli military vehicle, across the border east of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.

Eyewitnesses said the army fired dozens of rounds of live ammunition and used smokescreens to withdraw from the area.

They added that a number of army vehicles later rushed to the scene and initiated a search campaign.

Soldiers also fired several shells into nearby Palestinian lands, causing them to catch fire.

In related news, Israeli military sources have reported, on Sunday evening, April 20, 2014, that an explosive charge detonated near an Israeli military vehicle driving across the border fence, in southern Gaza.

The sources said the explosion did not cause injuries or damage to the vehicle, and that the army initiated a search campaign in the area.

Furthermore, Israeli sources said Palestinian fighters fired five shells into the Shear Hangev settlement bloc in the Western Negev, causing no damage or injuries.

Haniyeh: Capturing Israeli soldiers is a top Hamas priority
Picture
Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said Tuesday that capturing Israeli soldiers was the best method for achieving freedom for Palestinian prisoners.

"Abducting Israeli soldiers is a top priority on the agenda of Hamas and the Palestinian resistance," Haniyeh said during a conference focusing on Palestinian prisoners in Gaza City.

Haniyeh said that as long as there were Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, the best method to free them would be capturing Israeli soldiers.

"Negotiations with the occupation have failed," he stressed, calling the failure of US-backed PLO-Israel negotiations an "unquestionable fact."

In June 2006, Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was captured by a group militants who snuck into Israel through a tunnel and took their prisoner back to Gaza the same way.

Oct. 18, 2011 Shalit was released in exchange for 1,027 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.

Hamas feted the prisoner swap as a major victory.

Some 4,880 Palestinians were being held in Israeli jails as of January 2014, according to Israeli human rights organization B'tselem. Another 1,415 were in Israeli prisons for being inside Israel without permits.

IOF opens fire east of Gaza Strip, raises alert level
Picture
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) fired shells at Johr al-Dik town in the Gaza Strip on Monday evening. No casualties have been reported.

Quds Press reported said Israeli artillery stationed east of Johr al- Dik town fired two shells at the landfill east of the town. Palestinian houses in the region were also targets of Israeli bullets.

According to Quds Press, the incident came at a time when Israeli military equipment were deployed in the area under heavy drone flights.

In the same context, the Palestinian resistance opened fire at Israeli engineering crews performing renewal activities east of Johr al-Dik in the Gaza Strip.

Other IOF shootings have been documented along the border fence.

The Hebrew radio station said that IOF raised alert levels along the borders of the Gaza Strip after two mortar shells were fired at an Israeli patrol on Monday morning near the border fence. No casualties have been documented.

The radio quoted chairman of two local Israeli settlement councils, adjacent to the Gaza Strip, as saying that settlers near Gaza are bracing themselves to celebrate the first day of Passover tonight.

DFLP militants fire 3 mortar shells at Israeli vehicles in Gaza
Picture
The military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine said it fired mortar shells at Israeli military vehicles that entered Gaza early Monday.

The National Resistance Brigades said in a statement that four Israeli military vehicles crossed into Palestinian territory east of the village of al-Qarara in the southern Gaza Strip.

According to the statement, the group responded by firing three mortar shells at the Israeli vehicles.

No injuries or damages were reported.

"National resistance will remain the only path to restore Palestinian rights," the Brigades' statement said.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said she was not familiar with the incident.

The shells were fired two days after the DFLP said the National Resistance Brigades targeted an Israeli military jeep near the Kissufim military base east of the Gaza Strip.

A statement said that on Saturday "the military site Kissufim was also targeted with three mortar shells in response to the ongoing Israeli attacks on unarmed Palestinians."

An Israeli military spokeswoman said on Sunday that "there was alarm in the area overnight," and an explosion was heard, but she said that Israeli forces were still searching the area.

On Friday, five Palestinian medics suffered from excessive tear gas inhalation after Israeli forces fired a tear gas canister at their ambulance in the northern Gaza Strip, a day after Israeli forces shot four Palestinians in two incidents near the border fence.

Hindi: Final agreement in light of current imbalance of power catastrophic
Picture
“We are ready to cooperate with those who are in harmony with our political positions,” said Dr. Mohammed Hindi, member of the political bureau of the Islamic Jihad Movement, in an interview with PIC. “Israeli Occupation will now have to think twice before launching even a single aggression. We consider any potential agreement with Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) a serious threat to the Palestinian cause, especially following the power disequilibrium that characterizes the region. Any such agreement would lead to catastrophic results on the Palestinian people.”

“Our faith in Allah gives us energy to move forward and the optimism needed to take advantage of historical change. We’d have to step through a long journey towards freedom.  We will continue to fight until we restore all of our rights” Hindi added.

In Hindi’s view, several reasons lie at the heart of Israel’s reluctance to wage a large-scale war on Gaza particularly given Palestinian resistance’s perseverance, the Israeli internal situation, and the regional and international conditions.

Even the privileges that the occupation draws from the Israeli-U.S alliance, Hindi maintains, will not make it possible for the re-occupation of Gaza. “Israel is afraid because of the determination of the people there. This is why the re-occupation decision seems to be fake and unconvincing”, he said, adding, “Today the Palestinian resistance is able to take advantage of its deterrent power to discourage the enemy”.

“The Palestinian resistance in Gaza has gone through several changes. It seems it has drawn many lesson from the struggle. But so much has still to be done and the situation is quite naturally challenging,” said Hindi.

As far as the negotiations are concerned, Hindi points out that agreement would be problematic in all cases. “If an agreement is set then the situation will become disastrous given the power disequilibrium that characterizes the region; if not, Israel will take advantage of agreement delays to carry on what it has already planned since the Oslo agreement, including confiscation and judaization schemes”.

“Palestine will be liberated soon, as God has already promised. But we have to be up to the current challenges and responsibilities before any victory can be achieved.  Palestine should be everybody’s cause. True, no significant transformations have been brought to the scene yet. But this sounds quite natural. A quick glance at history shows us that it takes a long time for any historical transformation to blossom,” Hindi declared.

“While in Egypt and Tunisia I met several people who spoke about tacit schemes aiming at blocking the Nation’s moves towards freedom so as to delay their contribution in the Palestinian struggle for as long as possible”.

In the same context, Hindi stated that The Islamic Jihad movement and Hamas share a mature political vision. “They are both unyieldingly clinging to Palestinian canons on the basis of Islamic-based stratagems”.

“Of courses there are differences,” Hindi declared, “but we are of the same mind when it comes to the importance of resistance in the Palestinian fight for freedom. Now that the negotiations seem to be heading nowhere, we call for the need to make up our minds for a national agreement that meets the current challenges and needs, away from all external pressures”.

“It is high time we took things seriously and tried to introduce considerable changes in the Palestine liberation organization, both diplomatically and strategically. We call on the Palestinian negotiator and PA in Ramallah to go along the same road and take practical measures so as to pave the way for practical compromise and cooperation policies.”

Hindi concluded the interview by denouncing any legitimacy to the fierce campaign triggered by the Egyptian media on the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian resistance, insisting on their vital role in the Palestinian fight for freedom. “We have hundreds of prisoners, wounded, and disabled people. Everybody knows what harm IOF have done to us. We are looking forward to your help and support in lifting the siege and restoring our freedom” Hindi said in a message to the Egyptian authorities.

Hindi also, thoughtfully, called attention to the current Syrian tragedy, insisting on the need to find out a political solution that preserves the nation’s unity and gives Syrians the possibility to build their future far from any external pressures.

Hindi further confirmed his Movement’s readiness to run for general elections and to join in the management of Palestinian internal affairs away from the pressures and whims of the Oslo agreement.

“We will resort to every means available to fight the enemy. We will continue to fight until no single Israeli soldier is seen in our territories. Our internal affairs can only be resolved through communication and non-violent agreement policies. But things are different when it comes to Israeli occupation. Resistance is our nation’s destiny. We will continue to sacrifice our own blood for the sake of the nation, with no hesitation whatsoever.”

Gaza rocket lands in open area near Ashkelon
Picture
The Israeli military said on Saturday evening that a rocket from the Gaza Strip struck southern Israel, the fifth such attack since Thursday.

The rocket landed in an open area in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council in southern Israel and caused no injuries, the Israeli military said in a statement.

Earlier rockets from Gaza also landed in open areas across southern Israel, causing no reported injuries or damage.

The most recent flare up came in mid-March, when militant groups fired dozens of rockets after Israeli forces reportedly killed six Palestinians -- including three near the border with Gaza -- in a twenty-four hour period.

Israeli forces responded with air strikes, but the ceasefire was soon re-activated with Egyptian intervention.

Israel has maintained a severe economic blockade on the Gaza Strip's 1.7 million residents since 2006.

The blockade has severely limited the imports and exports of the Gaza Strip and has led to frequent humanitarian crises and hardship for Gazans.

Israeli air raids on Gaza render two civilians wounded
Picture
Two Palestinians have suffered wounds during Israeli aerial attacks at an early hour on Friday morning on different areas of the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian information center (PIC) reporter in Gaza said that Israeli warplanes bombed Abu Jarad site in Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza and another site belonging to Al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas in Gaza city.

Other air raids were reported on empty areas in Gaza. Two civilian workshops were also bombed in the attacks.

A spokesman for the health ministry said that a one-year-old child and a young men suffered moderate injuries during the raids and were taken to Shifa hospital.

The Hebrew radio, in turn, claimed that the Israeli air forces targeted at dawn Friday several sites in Gaza in response to Palestinian rocket attacks on empty areas in the Negev on Thursday.
