Egypt Handed Abu Raide Over To Israel
Picture
On June 24 2013, I published that a Palestinian citizen Wael Hassan Abu Raide, 32, also called (X prisoner) from Khuza’a town, east of Khan Younis refugee camp was abducted by the Israeli Mossad from Egypt and transfered to Israeli prison.

Today – July 11 2013, local sources stated that Mr. Abu Raide was not abducted in Egypt but he was handed over to Israel by the Egyptian authoroties after he had applied for the Egyptian nationality at the Ministry of foreign affairs in Cairo.

An Egyptian from the Ministry of foreign affairs called abu Raide on June 21 for a meeting and he went to meet him but did not return. the Egyptian authoroties covered the issue as if it was nobody has disappeared on there territory.

According to the same source Abu Rida is a former activist at the Islamic Jihad. He was travelling to Egypt with his wife “Amani” and son who suffers of cancer and receives medical treatment there. The source said that Abu Reida was taken to an Israeli detention center following a phone call from an Egyptian.

Mr. Maneour Abu Raide, brother’s of Hassan stated on June 24 2013 that he received a call on his personal handy in which an israeli intelligence officer informed him that his brother had been abducted by Mossad and was being imprisoned in Israel.

Yesterday, July 10 2013, an Israeli judge allowed publication of some details news about Wael Abu Riada’s arrest but he extended the gag order of other details by 10 days. According to the Judge, Abu Raide was detained on suspicion of “offenses of national security” ?? A magistrate’s court in the occupied Beer al-Sabaa what so called “Beersheba” on Wednesday extended Abu Rida’s remand by eight days.

The questions are: Is there an agreement between Israel and Egypt which compels the Egyptian authorities to hand detainees over to Israel? Was the abduction of Hassan organized between the Egyptian and the Israeli intelligence services?

If the Egyptian authorities were not involved, how did the Mossad elements abduct Hassan while he was in Egypt  territory? Who allows the Mossad free access to the Republic of Egypt? Why The Egyptian authorities cover the news of Raide abduction?

Egyptian sources stated that elements of the israeli intelligence organization “Shabak” are working unimpeded at the International Airport of Cairo. They stop and question the passengers without intervention of the Egyptian airport security.

Following the abduction of Abu Raide several rockets were fired Sunday night from the Gaza Strip toward southern Israel.

Israel: “Navy Ship Targeted Near Gaza”
Picture
The Israeli Radio has reported Thursday [July 4 2013] that several rounds of live ammunition have been fired, late on Wednesday at night, at an Israeli gunship near the Gaza Coast.

The Radio said that the ship was “conducting a routine activity”, and that no damage or injuries were reported.

It added that the army initiated an investigation into the attack. Palestinian armed groups in Gaza did not claim responsibility for the incident.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli Navy repeatedly opens fire at Palestinian fishermen and fishing boats sailing in Palestinian territorial waters, or even docking at the shore. Damage, casualties and arrests have been reported.

When Israel imposed the illegal siege on Gaza in 2006, the fishermen were limited to only three nautical miles off the Gaza shore. Yet, the fishermen and their boats are constantly attacked even within those three miles; dozens of casualties have been reported.

As part of the ceasefire agreement of November 2012, Israel agreed to allow the Palestinians to fish within six nautical miles of the shore, but unilaterally decreased the allotted area to three miles.

Last May, Israel decided to allow the fishermen to fish within six nautical miles of the Gaza shore, but the Navy continued to attack them even within the three nautical miles.

Under the Oslo accords in the mid-nineties, the Palestinians are supposed to be allowed to fish in 20 nautical miles off the Gaza shore.

Israel Claims Palestinian Group Responsible For Attack On Navy Ship

Israel TV, Channel 2, has reported that Palestinian fighters were behind the attack against an Israeli Navy ship, paroling the Gaza shore on Wednesday at night.

The TV said that the shells detonated near the ship, without any direct impact, leading to no injuries on damage.

The fighters also apparently fired several rounds of live ammunition.

It added that the soldiers noticed six shells fired at their ship, and responded by firing dozens of rounds of live ammunition at the source of fire; no clashes have been reported.

The Israeli fire also failed to hit any of the fighters who managed to escape unharmed.

A statement issued by the Israeli army claimed on Thursday that in the past two months, military equipment, weapons and ammunition have been uncovered in 10 West Bank locations.

Israeli army spokesman claimed: “More than a dozen shooting incidents were reported since the beginning of 2013 in Judea and Samaria. Such activities in the region are crucial to the prevention of such incidents.”

Al-Qassam Brigades: Our attempts to release prisoners would never cease
Picture
Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said that operation Al-Wahem Al-Mutabaded (vanishing illusion) that resulted in the capture of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit would not be last one and would be followed by others in order to release all Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. In a televised statement on the anniversary of the operation, spokesman for the Brigades Abu Obeida said that the Palestinian people in Gaza contributed to the success of the operation.

Spokesman Abu Obeida stated that this operation was a message to the prisoners that the Palestinian resistance would never forsake them and would launch other operations to capture more Israeli soldiers.

Al-Qassam Brigades carried out this special operation in cooperation with Salahuddin Brigades and the Islamic Army on June 25, 2006 when resistance fighters stormed an Israeli military post to the east of Rafah area in south Gaza.

During this commando raid, the resistance fighters were able to kill two Israeli soldiers, wound six others and capture another. However, two resistance fighters were martyred.

Five years later, indirect talks between the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and the Israeli regime were culminated in the release of 1,027 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for one Israeli soldier.

Islamic Jihad Demands Hamas Fire Minister Over Killing
Picture
Islamic Jihad called on the Gaza government to dismiss Minister of Interior Fathi Hammad after Raed Jundiya, a leader of Al-Quds Brigades — the military wing of Islamic Jihad — was shot dead by a police officer following a raid on his house in the neighborhood of Shujaiya east of Gaza City. Islamic Jihad has further asked that Hamas bear responsibility for Jundiya’s killing.

In an exclusive interview with Al-Monitor, Nafez Azzam, a member of Islamic Jihad’s political bureau, said that the killing is a crime and irresponsible act committed by the police. He called on Hamas to assume responsibility and dismiss either the Interior Minister or police chief.

During a phone interview, Azzam said that it all began with a trivial incident concerning the resistance, but that the group was shocked to see scores of police officers head to Jundiya’s house without notifying Islamic Jihad, as per an agreement between the two movements.

Azzam said that Al-Quds Brigades denied launching rockets at Israel, noting that the movement is not an armed gang or militia, but a military faction responsible for its actions.

“Throughout the crisis, and during Jundiya’s funeral, Al-Quds Brigades have not fired a single bullet, and they will not take their rights by their own hands. But at the same time, things will not be as they were before Jundiya’s death. Hamas must rectify what happened by dismissing the Interior Minister, who bears responsibility for what happened, whether or not he was aware of the murder. The police apparatus is under the jurisdiction of the Interior Ministry,” he said.

A special source revealed to Al-Monitor that the incident is related to the disappearance of weapons belonging to a resistance group affiliated with Al-Quds Brigades, which caused an internal problem in the movement. As a result, the person in charge of arms was kidnapped for interrogation. The abductee’s family headed to the police and filed a complaint accusing Jundiya of kidnapping her son.

Azzam added, “We are keen on maintaining strong relations with all factions of the Palestinian people, and we have always sought to avoid tension. But what happened is a crime by all standards. Scores of armed policemen headed to Jundiya’s house, even though they know of the presence of a mechanism for communication and coordination with the movement. Jundiya was killed in cold blood.”

“We want to know why the Interior Ministry acted in this way,” he said.

Interior Ministry spokesman Islam Shahwan told Al-Monitor that the ministry “cannot make a comment on the incident or blame any party until the release of results by the investigation committee in the next few hours.” He noted that the investigation committee consists of Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) member Marwan Abu Ras, as well as representatives of Jundiya’s family, the Islamic Jihad, and the Ministry of the Interior.

Shahwan said that the police headed to the Jundiya’s family home following his failure to respond to two requests for him to appear before the Attorney General and the judicial authorities within less than a week. As a result, three members of the police — not scores of them — headed to his home.

Regarding claims that Hamas did not follow up with the Islamic Jihad on Jundiya’s court request, Shahwan said that the “charter of honor” signed by Islamic Jihad and Hamas within the framework of cooperation does not provide organizational cover for any criminal case. He added that “Jundiya had been accused of kidnapping a citizen. We do not want an internal problem to destabilize the security situation in the sector.”

As for the demand to dismiss the Interior Minister or the police chief, he said that the Interior Ministry will bear part of the responsibility should the investigation committee prove that. He said that they are listening to all opinions since the government is not a party but serves all citizens. He said, “We are waiting for the release of the forensics report, which is with the Attorney General, as well as the results of the investigation committee. We assume any responsibility in this regard.”

Regarding the firing of rockets, Shahwan said that the security units did not detect any launching of missiles. Al-Quds Brigades and other factions denied launching any rockets from the Gaza Strip. Shahwan held Israel responsible for any military escalation.

Shahwan added that “the Israeli occupation [forces] have been threatening to bomb areas in the Gaza Strip and target leaders for a week now. Two days ago, June 22, Israel accused Al-Quds Brigades of launching missiles, which later turned out to be military exercises being conducted far away from them. But Israel wants to take advantage of the situation and target Gaza. This escalation culminated in a statement by Avigdor Lieberman on Monday, June 24, in which he said that Israel should seize the opportunity and fully occupy the strip.”

Azzam added, “We know that Israel is trying to take advantage of this atmosphere and aggravate the situation. It has gotten rid of a key figure of resistance like Jundiya.”

At a press conference attended by Al-Monitor on Monday {June 24} Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh confirmed the strong relationship with Islamic Jihad. He said that “what happened in Shujaiya is an exceptional incident in the course of the relationship, and no one can disturb it.”

Haniyeh added: “Apart from the reasons and results that will be released by the investigation committee, I personally, and on behalf of the government, convey my deepest condolences to the Jundiya family and Islamic Jihad. I assure you that we feel your grief and your lives are our responsibility. We will seek to preserve the good relationship we have with you.”

He continued, “Our relationship with Islamic Jihad is solid, firm, and based on [a commitment to] the line of resistance for the sake of Islam and Palestine.” He added that his government in the past few hours intensified contacts with the Islamic Jihad leadership and elders from the Jundiya family in order to contain the situation and maintain the language of reason.

Lieberman Calls for “Reoccupying” Gaza
Picture
Israeli Member of Knesset, head of the Foreign and Security Committee, Avigdor Lieberman, stated Monday [June 24 2013] that Israel should seriously consider “reoccupying and imposing fill Israeli military and security control over the Gaza Strip”.

His statements came during an interview with the Israeli Radio. He said that “should Israel fail to respond for shells fired from Gaza, Hamas will own planes and hundreds of missiles that can strike Tel Aviv and Netanya”.

Lieberman added that Hamas “is not interested in living next to the Jews in Israel”, and added that Tel Aviv needs to “return to the Gaza Strip, and perform a root cleanup”.

He told the Radio that he does not know what Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Defense Minister, Moshe Ya’alon, think about his “proposal”, but added that they should consider it.

Responding to his comments, head of the Meretz Israeli Movement, Member of Knesset, Zahava Gal-On, stated that Lieberman is trying to wage war by his irresponsible behaviors and statements.

Gal-On added that Netanyahu needs to act on easing tension, and to stop “the winds of war blowing in his coalition”.

Lieberman demands re-occupation of Gaza

Avigdor Lieberman, the chairman of the Knesset’s foreign relations and security committee, has called for the re-occupation of the Gaza Strip to halt the firing of rockets from it. Lieberman, also leader of Yisrael Beiteinu party, was quoted by the website of the network of Israeli radio on Monday as saying that there was no other option but the occupation of Gaza.

He said that the absence of a strict Israeli response within the coming two years would lead Hamas to acquire hundreds of missiles that could reach Tel Aviv and maybe Netanya.

“Hamas has no intention of recognizing the Jewish presence in Israel and thus Gaza should be reoccupied and cleansed,” Lieberman said.

Gaza Hits Israel with 6 Rockets, IAF Strikes Back
Picture
Israeli media outlets reported that six rockets fired from the Gaza Strip hit south of Israel late Sunday night.

Yediot Ahranot Israeli newspaper said that four rockets hit the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council and Netivot, while another two rockets were launched at the Bnei Shimon Regional Council. Both exploded in open areas and no injuries or damage were reported.

According to same newspaper, the IOF leadership estimates that the Islamic Jihad was behind the rocket fire, as an act of defiance against Hamas.

Tensions between Islamic Jihad and Hamas have been mounting following the recent death of an Islamic Jihad leader at the hands of Hamas' security forces during clashes.

In response to the rocket fire, Israeli aircraft attacked Gaza overnight, and Israel's Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon ordered the closure of the Karam Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) and Erez border crossings between Israel and Gaza.

Islamic Jihad Fighter Killed By Hamas Fire in Gaza
Picture
Raed Jundiyya, 38

The Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, reported that one of its leaders was shot and killed by live rounds, fired by security officers of the Hamas-led Ministry of Interior in the Gaza Strip.

The Brigades said that Raed Jundiyya (Abu Al-Qassem), 38, from Ash-Shujaeyya neighborhood in Gaza city, died on Sunday at noon of injuries suffered Saturday after being shot in the head by the Hamas-run security forces. It added that Abu Al-Qassem was in his home when he was shot.

The Brigades said that, by killing Abu Al-Qassem, the security forces of Hamas “granted Israel a free service whether they intended to or not”.

It added that the fighter topped Israel’s assassination list, and was in charge of the “Missiles Brigade” that operates against Israel, especially during Israeli invasions and repeated wars targeting Gaza.

Furthermore, the Brigades said that Abu Al-Qassem was part of a group in charge of revealing the identities of certain individuals believed to be behind attempts to steal weapons that belong to the resistance.

It added that it would not remain idle while certain groups are attacking it, trying to confiscate its weapons, or trying to prevent it from defending Palestine and its people.

On its part, the Islamic Jihad Movement said that it is interested in stability and in the safety of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and added that it will seek legal channels to communicate with the Palestinian government in Gaza, and all related security devices.

The Movement said that the Hamas-run Police headed to the home of Abu Al-Qassem in an attempt to arrest him, but mishandled the situation and resorted to excessive force.

Hamas forms inquiry panel over Jihad affiliate's death

The Hamas government in Gaza announced Monday it has convened an inquiry committee following the death of an Islamic Jihad member by Hamas police, an official said.

Hamas' interior ministry formed the panel, which will be headed by Marwan Abu Rass, a Palestine Legislative Council member and a relative of the deceased, the ministry's public relations chief Ibrahim Salah said.

Raed Qassim Jundeyeih, a member of Islamic Jihad's militant wing, the Al-Quds Brigades, died on Sunday after being shot a day earlier by Hamas police officers.

Police had gone to an address in Gaza City on Saturday to deliver summons orders to a member of the Jundeyeih family. Upon approaching the home, members of the family opened fire at the officers and Jundeyeih was wounded in the ensuing gunfight.

Islamic Jihad movement announced Sunday that it was temporarily suspending ties with Hamas, accusing Gaza authorities of being responsible for Juneyeih's death.

Hamas Formed Special Unit To Counter Shell Fire From Gaza, Report Claims
Picture
Israeli sources have reported that the Hamas movement in Gaza formed a special unit to prevent resistance groups from firing shells into adjacent Israeli areas.

Israeli Wallah News stated that Egyptian mediators managed to keep the truce holding between Hamas in Gaza and Israel, and claimed that Hamas formed a special unit to stop the firing of shells.

It added that the unit contains 600 Hamas fighters deployed on border areas with Israel, and operating 24/7.

According to the report, Hamas is determined to prevent all armed groups in Gaza from firing shells, even of this means clashing with certain “extremist Islamist groups”.

According to Wallah News, senior Israeli army sources confirmed the report, and said that this unit was formed before the latest war on Gaza took place, and increased its activities after the war.

Egyptian sources said that the Egyptian mediators did not only practice pressure on Hamas in Gaza, but have also been actively combating armed groups in the Sinai Peninsula, an issue that significantly reduced the smuggling of weapons to armed groups in Gaza.

During the 8-day war in November of last year, Israeli missiles and shells killed 191 Palestinians, mainly children, women and elderly, while at least 1492 Palestinians have been injured, dozens seriously.

Israeli missiles and shells killed Forty-eight children, including 16 under the age of five, in addition to 12 women and 20 elderly.

1492 Palestinians, including 533 children (195 under the age of 5), 254 women and 103 elderly have been injured.

Bahar: The armed resistance is the only strategy to restore the usurped rights
Picture
Ahmed Bahar, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, highlighted the right of the Palestinian people to armed resistance against the Israeli occupation as the only strategic option to restore the land and the usurped rights. Bahar made his remarks during his meeting on Monday with a Saudi delegation visiting Gaza as part of the Miles of Smiles aid convoy.

Bahar stated that the peace negotiations with the Israeli occupation regime achieved nothing but more concessions.

The lawmaker hailed the Saudi activists for their efforts to help Gaza people, asserting that such nonstop aid convoys boost the steadfastness of the Gazans in the face of the occupation.

"Your generous visit coincided with the Isra and Miraj anniversary, which strengthens our feeling about our imminent return to our land and the liberation of our Jerusalem," he said.

Bahar also put the delegation in the picture of the ongoing suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza as a result of the blockade and the daily Israeli violations against them as well as the atrocities that had been committed against them during the last two wars.

Israel to Compensate Palestinians Killed by Hamas Rocket
Picture
Yediot Ahranot Israeli newspaper reported that the Israeli government will compensate two families in Gaza who lost two of their sons in a rocket attack in 2005, while working in greenhouse in Israel. Each family is due to receive NIS 1 million ($280,000). According to the newspaper, two Palestinian workers from Gaza were killed, five others wounded, when a Qassam rocket fired by Hamas exploded in the green house they were working in.

The newspaper added that IOF helicopter arrived to the scene and transferred the two seriously wounded Palestinians to Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba, while the rest were transferred to hospital via ambulance.

The Israeli farm where the incident took place was in the former Israeli settlement of Ganei Tal. The settlement was situated in the southern part of Gaza before Israel dismantled its settlements in Gaza and pulled out of the area.

Resheq: Palestinian resistance is able to extract rights and liberate land
Picture
Member of Hamas's politburo Ezzat al-Resheq said the policy of repeated incursions carried out by Jewish extremists in Al-Aqsa Mosque's courtyards will not succeed in imposing a fait accompli or obliterating historical facts. Rishq denounced in a press statement on Tuesday "the international silence and inaction regarding the settlement activity and Judaization projects to which the Palestinian land is being exposed.”

He also condemned the intentions to resume the "futile" negotiations with the occupation, especially in light of the ongoing attacks on the occupied city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli forces and settlers.

"The best way to respond to the Zionist crimes is to adhere to the resistance, to end the division and to strengthen the steadfastness of our people," the Hamas official stressed.

He asserted that "the Palestinian people and its resistance are able to extract the rights, to liberate the land and to achieve victory over the Zionist enemy."

Rishq has also warned the occupation of the consequences of continuing to commit crimes and violations against the Palestinian prisoners; especially the sick captives, through its deliberate policy of medical neglect and the systematic torture, and stressed that such crimes will never be subject to statute of limitations.

He called on the human rights and humanitarian organizations and free people of the world to take urgent action to expose the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian prisoners and its violations of international conventions and to prosecute those responsible.

The Palestinian leader also pointed out that the report broadcasted by the Hebrew TV about the reality of detainees in Israeli jails is nothing but a desperate attempt to polish Israel's ugly image and falsify the tragic reality of Palestinian captives.

Abu Obeida: capturing enemy soldiers is something to be proud of
Picture
The Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the Hamas military wing, affirmed that capturing Israeli occupation soldiers is a resistance act and something to be proud of. The brigades’ spokesman Abu Obeida considered the rejection of the idea of capturing occupation soldiers as a complete disregard of the suffering of thousands of prisoners languishing in occupation jails and their sacrifices.

Abu Obeida said that capturing Israeli soldiers to exchange them with Palestinian prisoners is a part of the Palestinian culture and a source of pride for all the Palestinian people and resistance.

During his speech to the World Economic Forum in Jordan, Abbas revealed that PA security services returned 96 Israeli soldiers who had mistakenly entered the PA controlled areas, to the Israeli authorities in 2012. "Kidnapping soldiers is not in our nature, we do not use these methods, and we want to live with neighbors with mutual respect," he said.

In October 2011, 1027 Palestinian prisoners were released from Israeli jails in exchange for the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who was captured in Gaza at 2006.

Pew: The Palestinians in the occupied lands favor armed resistence

Picture
A US opinion poll stated that majority of the Palestinians do not believe a way can be found for an independent Palestinian state to coexist peacefully with Israel.

According to a recent survey of public opinion conducted by Pew research center, a plurality of the Palestinians, about 45 percent, in the occupied Palestinian territories believes that negotiations and nonviolent resistance are useless and that the best way to achieve statehood is through armed struggle.

61 percent of the Palestinians in the occupied territories do not believe a way can be found for Israel and an independent Palestinian state to coexist peacefully, while 14 percent say this is possible and 22 percent say it depends, the poll showed.

The center also surveyed the public opinion in some European countries about their sympathy with Palestinians or Israelis and the results were unanimously in favor of the Palestinians.

In Britain, about 35 percent of the British expressed sympathy with the Palestinians, while 19 percent sided with Israelis.

In France, 43 percent sympathized with the Palestinians and 32 percent sympathized with Israelis.

Germans also offered more even views now compared with six years ago in 2007, when 34 percent of them sided with Israel and 21 percent sided with the Palestinians. Now 26 percent of them showed sympathy with the Palestinians, while 28 percent favored Israelis.

Video: Palestinian group claims Golan attack

The Abdul Qader al-Husseini brigades on Thursday claimed responsibility for an attack from Syria on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The military wing of the Free Palestine Movement said it had received permission from Syria to launch the attack, following recent Israeli attacks on Syria.

The brigades said in a statement that militants fired projectiles at dawn on Wednesday to mark the anniversary of the Nakba -- or catastrophe -- of Israel's founding in 1948, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forced or fled from their homes.

"We are avenging all our martyrs that we lost in our war with the Zionist enemy," the brigades said in a statement.

The group posted a video online showing what it says is footage of the attack.
Ma'an is unable to verify the content of the footage.

Israel's military said several rockets fired from Syria landed in the occupied Golan Heights on Wednesday.

"Around 6 a.m. several rockets landed in the Hermon area on the Syria-Israel border," an Israeli army spokeswoman told Ma'an.

"As a result, the site has been closed to visitors and Israel has registered a complaint with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force. The incident is most likely related to the internal conflict," she added.

No injuries or damage were reported.

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said last week that Israel was not getting involved in Syria's internal conflict. It has, however, carried out several targeted strikes in Syria.

Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in a 1967 war and later annexed it in a move never recognized internationally.

Technically, Syria and Israel are still at war, but the Golan, a strategic plateau, has been largely quiet for decades.

Haneyya: The wounded in Gaza will continue to hold the resistance banner

Picture
Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya said that the wounded in Gaza insist on carrying the banner of resistance and steadfastness despite the limbs or eyesight they have lost. Haneyya made his remarks during a ceremony held to inaugurate a forum for the wounded as part of the victims of war lounge in the Gaza Strip.

Haneyya said that the wounded in Gaza are still wearing the battlefield attire and ready to sacrifice more, although they have lost some of their parts, stressing that the real death does not happen to the body but to the heart.

"This place tells the story of a generation fighting and a people willing to get liberated from the occupation and have a state on the entire Palestinian soil with Jerusalem as its capital," the premier stated.

"We take pride before the nations in our martyrs, our wounded and our prisoners, who are in the lead, and we are keen on having every foreign delegation or any official or unofficial figure meet with the families of the martyrs, the prisoners and the wounded," he added.

He pointed out that Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, the founder of Hamas, was confined to a wheelchair, but he was successfully able to lead a generation and renew the spirit of this nation.

Al-Azhar preacher demands Muslims to prepare to fight Zionist enemy

Picture
Sheikh Mohamed Al-Mahdi, the Friday preacher of Al-Azhar Mosque, called on the Muslim nations to join forces to prepare for the day of the great battle against the Israeli occupation, describing this day as inevitable. In his Friday Khutba (sermon) yesterday, Sheikh Mahdi urged the Muslims to observe piety for it is the solution to all problems and crises, and the key to the liberation of Palestine.

He emphasized that the night journey of Prophet Mohamed from Makka to Jerusalem means that the Muslims are responsible for protecting the holy city and the Aqsa Mosque.

He also stressed that the Aqsa Mosque does not belong to the Palestinians alone but to all Muslims around the world, urging the Muslims to shoulder their responsibilities towards the Mosque and rise up to liberate Jerusalem from the occupation.

In a related context, senior Hamas official Munir Sa'eed said before a massive crowd of Egyptian protestors on Friday that his Movement would keep resisting and taking up arms against the occupation until the liberation of all Palestine.

The Hamas official made his remarks at Al-Azhar university where a mega rally in support of Jerusalem took place at the invitation of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

Sa'eed warned that the Jews have escalated their violations against the Aqsa Mosque in an attempt to divide it.

For his part, Mohamed Al-Beltaji, a senior Muslim Brotherhood official, stated that the development process in the post-revolution Egypt would not divert the Egyptians' attention from supporting their brothers and sisters in Jerusalem, Syria, Bangladesh and Burma.

He stressed that the Islamic Movement in Egypt would not rest until Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque are liberated from the Israeli occupation.

Al-Qaradawi urges Palestinians to continue resistance

Picture
The head of the International Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Yousuf al-Qaradawi called on the Palestinian resistance to hold onto its arms, during Friday sermon at Gaza City mosque.

Al-Qaradawi hailed the people of Gaza for their sacrifices and steadfastness in confronting the Israeli occupation, and stressed that Palestine is and will remain an Arab Muslim country and that all the rights will be restored.

"I advise all the people of Gaza to be patient and continue to build their country, and continue resistance," the sheikh told worshipers at al-Omari Mosque.

"We will not give up on the resistance, and we will not give up our arms," he added.

Head of the Association of Muslim Scholars has also called on the Palestinians to implement the national reconciliation and unite their ranks.

Al-Qaradawi, whose last visit to Gaza took place in 1958, expressed during the sermon his extreme happiness for being in the Strip again.

He arrived in Gaza on Wednesday night, heading a delegation of 50 scholars from 15 countries, for a three-day visit he said was to "support Gaza people and participate in lifting the (Israeli) blockade against them."

Egyptian MP calls for supporting Palestinian resistance

Picture
The Egyptian member of the Shura Council, Sheikh Safwat Abdel Ghani, called on the Arab and Islamic world to support Palestinian resistance against the occupier.

In an interview with the PIC reporter, Abdel Ghani stressed the need to confront the Israeli Judaization schemes in Jerusalem city and al-Aqsa mosque particularly in an attempt to alter the Arab and Islamic character of the occupied city.

Abdul Ghani came to Gaza among a delegation of nearly 50 religious scholars headed by Dr. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars.

He called on Arab and Islamic leaders to visit Gaza in order to lift the siege imposed on the strip and to support the people's steadfastness, condemning the calls for visiting Jerusalem under Israeli occupation.

He stressed the armed resistance option to liberate Palestine and stressed the need for more Arab official and popular support especially in light of the Arab spring.

He confirmed the Egyptian people's support for the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Abdul Ghani called for an Arab and Islamic unity to confront the Israeli schemes in the occupied city of Jerusalem and to maintain the Arab and Islamic character of the city.

The visiting delegation to the Gaza strip comprises 45 scholars from different Arab and Islamic countries headed by Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and the former Sudanese president Abdulrahman Suwareddahab.

Baher calls for using armed resistance to defend occupied Palestine

Picture
Ahmed Baher, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC), called on the Palestinian resistance factions to use the available means to defend the Palestinian land, stressing that international law gives nations under occupation the right to armed resistance.

Baher made his remarks in a news conference held on Tuesday by the PLC in Gaza city to declare its rejection of the Arab peace initiative.

He said that the Arab League's acceptance of swapping lands with the occupation leads to serious concessions on the Palestinian rights and constants, and thus cannot go unnoticed or be tolerated in any way.

"The Arab League must backtrack on its position and not be consistent with the US in its approach," the senior lawmaker underlined, noting that it is a huge mistake to believe that the solution to the Palestinian cause could be found through making concessions.

"The fortitude and steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and their determination to uphold their rights despite the Zionist occupation and its practices are the most credible way to curb anyone willing to cause harm to Palestine," Baher said.

Report: “Hamas Attacks Gunmen, Stops Them From Firing Shells”

Picture
The Field Follow-up Committee at the Ibin Tamima Media Center in Gaza, claimed that members of the Hamas security forces, opened fire at Salafi fighters, in northern Gaza, and wounded one of them, after preventing them from firing shells into adjacent Israeli targets, the Palestine News Network (PNN) has reported.

The committee said that incident took place Monday when Hamas fighters and security forces chased Salafi fighters in the Tuwam area, shot and wounded one of them before moving him to an unknown location.

It added that fighters of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, have been deployed close to border areas, with the sole responsibility of preventing all armed groups from firing shells into Israel, and stated that the Interior Security Forces, running under the Ministry of Interior in Gaza, are coordinating their activities with the Al-Qassam Brigades.

A few days ago, Qassam fighters reportedly attacked Abdullah Al-Khatoumi, a Salafi fighter from An-Nusseirat refugee camp, and arrested him after inflicting several fractures to various parts of his body, the Follow-up committee claimed.

It added that dozens of Salafi fighters are currently imprisoned by Hamas in Gaza, and are facing very difficult conditions, and claimed that “some figures in Hamas and the Al-Qassam Brigades only believe in violence in countering the Salafi Jihadist groups in the Gaza Strip.”

Zahar: the resistance will respond to the occupation in a timely manner

Picture
The leader in the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, Mahmoud Zahar, said that the Israeli escalation against the Gaza Strip is not an isolated incident but is part of the Israeli daily aggressions. The resistance will respond to the occupation in a timely manner, he said on his Facebook page on Wednesday, adding that there should be an Arab understanding of our position.

Israeli aircraft assassinated on Tuesday the citizen Haytham al-Sahal in Gaza strip, claiming that he was involved in shelling Umm Rishrash (Eilat) recently.

The Israeli leaders have escalated their threats against the Gaza strip following the formation of the new Israeli government to impose Israeli control after the resistance victory during al-Furqan and Shale Stones wars.

Hamas called on Egypt to pressure the Israeli occupation in order to commit to the truce and stop its aggression.

"We will not accept the sporadic firing of rockets from either the Gaza Strip or Sinai. We will act, and are acting, in order to defend Israeli citizens," the Israeli war minister said.

Al-Resheq: Our people will confront Israeli settlers' crimes

Picture
Izzat al-Resheq, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, warned the occupation authorities of giving the green light to Jewish extremist settlers to carry out brutal attacks against Palestinians and their properties. Al-Resheq held the occupation authorities fully responsible for these serious crimes and their implications, saying that the "Palestinian people will not remain idle and will protect their land and dignity by all means."

Since the early morning hours of Tuesday, hundreds of Israeli settlers carried out several attacks against Palestinian citizens in Nablus northern West Bank.

In another context, al-Resheq stated that the Israeli decision to approve the construction of 121 new housing units in East Jerusalem and the Israeli plan to expand Modi'in settlement, west of Ramallah on 4,000 dunums of Palestinian land in the West Bank came in the framework of the Israeli campaign to expand settlement and to loot more Palestinian land in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

He stressed in a press statement on Tuesday the need for a strategy to address the Israeli settlement projects, calling for Arab, Islamic and international pressure to put an end to the Israeli settlement ambitions.

He noted that the absence and the prosecution of armed resistance in the West Bank encourage the Israeli settlement expansion and construction.

The Israeli Ministry of Housing approved on Monday the construction of 121 new housing units in the settlement of "Givat Ze'ev" near the city of Jerusalem. The Israeli Ministry of the Interior also presented the plan to expand Modi'in settlement west of Ramallah on 4,000 dunums.

British minister 'concerned' by West Bank, Gaza violence

Picture
The British minister for the Middle East expressed concern Wednesday about recent violence in the West Bank and Gaza, a statement from his office said.

"I am very concerned about recent developments in both the West Bank and Gaza. At this critical time for the two state solution, we need dialogue, not violence," Alistair Burt said.

The British minister condemned recent rocket fire and an Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip as well as the fatal stabbing of a settler near Nablus, calling on both sides to "take advantage of Egyptian-brokered talks to deal with key issues."

"Britain has been clear that 2013 is the vital year for peace in the Middle East. We will continue to work to ensure that the aspirations for peace of both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples are met," he added.
