El Matan settlement devouring more land in Salfit
Picture
The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has embarked on expansion activities in the illegal settlement of El Matan, west of Deir Istiya town in the West Bank province of Salfit.

Local eyewitnesses told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) on Wednesday that the IOA annexed vast tracts of land in Wadi Qana area of Deir Istiya to construct new housing units as part of a plan to expand El Matan.

They affirmed that the settlement is being expanded silently into Wadi Qana, away from the media and without informing the Palestinian landowners of the Israeli plan to build on their plots of land.

Soldiers Abduct Seven Palestinians, Confiscate Car And Cash, Shut Down Blacksmith Workshop
Picture
Israeli soldiers abducted, on Wednesday at dawn, seven Palestinians in Hebron and Qalqilia governorates, searched many homes and confiscated a large amount of cash from one home, in addition to shutting down a blacksmith’s workshop, and confiscating lathe machines and equipment.

Media sources in Hebron, in the southern part of the West Bank, has reported that the soldiers abducted Ahmad Bassam Ja’bari, 24, after invading his home and ransacking it.

They added that the soldiers also abducted Monjed Mousa Juneidi, and Mohammad Maher Obeid, and confiscated a car, owned by Arafat Jamjoum.

The soldiers also invaded many homes and a bakery, before violently searching them. Owners of two of the invaded homes have been identified as Nihad al-Ja’ba, Omar Maher Obeid and Sa’ad al-Qawasmi.

The soldiers confiscated Sa’ad’s car, and more than 16000 shekels, after interrogating him and his family.

The soldiers also abducted Mohammad Mousa Rajab, from Hebron, while he was crossing the al-Kamara border terminal between Jordan and the West Bank, on his way back home after performing pilgrimage in Mecca.

Furthermore, the soldiers invaded Jayyous town, northeast of Qalqilia, searched homes and abducted Yahia Ali Nofal, 20, Abada Mohammad Roshdi, 28, and Fuad Na’im Hamed, 20.

Media sources in Jayyous said the soldiers also assaulted a young man, identified as Saif Abdul-Qader, causing various cuts and bruises.
In ‘Arraba town, south of Jenin, in northern West Bank, the soldiers invaded a blacksmith’s workshop, searched it and shut it down, in addition to breaking into three lathe workshops and confiscating their machines.

IOA to destroy water network of Palestinian village in Nablus
Picture
Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) on Tuesday notified the demolition of the water pipeline feeding Khirbet al-Marajem which is located near Duma village to the south of Nablus city.

Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official who is in charge of the settlement file in the northern West Bank, said that 14 families living in Khirbet al-Marajem will be deprived of accessing water supplies at any moment.

Demolition operations are carried out on a regular basis by the IOA against Palestinian houses and properties in the West Bank villages, particularly those located in Area C, which is completely controlled by Israel. These practices fall in line with Israeli systematic attempts to seize more Palestinian lands.

Israel confiscates 876 dunums in Bethlehem for settlers
Picture
The so-called Israeli Justice Ministry has registered 876 dunums of Palestinian lands in al-Habila area near Bethlehem under the name of an Israeli company owned by settlers of the illegal settlement of Kfar Etzion.

The confiscation decision was made in full disregard to an outstanding lawsuit between Palestinians and Israelis, which has been in the courts for 18 years.

The activist against the Separation Wall and settlements, Hassan Breijiya, said that the Israeli ministry’s decision has granted settlers official land ownership, perceiving that as a clear robbery of the Palestinian land and a kind of law evasion for the sake of settlement expansion.

Palestinian family evicted from their home of 52 years
Picture
The Israeli police forcibly evicted early Tuesday morning a Palestinian family from their house in the occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, claiming the property belongs to Israeli settlers.

The PIC reporter affirmed that Israeli police and border forces stormed in large numbers the neighborhood at dawn time and forcibly evacuated the Shamasna family members and they started to move their furniture and belongings into a truck.

Accompanied by police, a group of settlers entered the evacuated home and locked its doors.

Shamasna family are composed of ten members including an elderly man, his wife, and six children.

During the eviction, owner of the house Haj Ayoub Shamasna, 82, shouted, “This is the true face of occupation. This is the way of the racist (Israeli) government.”

"The soldiers violently stormed the house without any prior notice before throwing all our belongings in the street," he told PIC reporter.

Following the eviction, the family remained outside the house along with a number of peace activists.

Shamasna family, who were living in the house since 1964, said the evacuation order is illegal and based on fake documents handed over by Israeli settlers to an Israeli court.

Dozens of Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood are also threatened with eviction as Israeli occupation authorities plan to establish new settlement outposts in the area.

Israeli police forcibly evict Palestinian family, install Israeli teens in their home

The Shamasna family, which has lived in their home in East Jerusalem for 53 years, was forcibly evicted Tuesday by Israeli police, who then allowed three armed Jewish Israeli teenagers to take over the home.

The eviction came just two weeks after an Israeli judge had ruled that the eviction should not be carried out, after challenges were presented by the family’s lawyer on the lack of documentation of the plots of lands in the neighborhood on the municipal level.

According to members of the Shamasna family, Israeli police officers along with special units and intelligence officers entered the neighborhood with armored vehicles and trucks early Tuesday. The heavily armed police and officers woke the family and forced them out of their home, then loaded their belongings onto trucks.

In addition, the police closed all access to the street, preventing their friends and family from coming to their assistance. Those evicted include 84-year old Ayyub and his 75-year old wife, both of whom suffer from numerous health problems. They were forced out onto the hot street, where they stood in the sun as 3 Israeli teenagers entered their family home and took it over, laughing and pointing their weapons at the elderly couple.

Some of the younger Shamasna family members tried to stage a sit-in to prevent the eviction of their home, but they were dragged out onto the street by the Israeli police.

The eviction of the family was based on an Israeli law which allows Jewish Israelis to take control of property believed to have been owned by Jews prior to Israel’s creation in 1948. But the Shamasna family took the case to court, saying their family had lived there for generations, and there was no indication of pre-1948 ownership by Jews.

There is no reciprocal law for the hundred of thousands of Palestinians to reclaim land that was lost to them when they were forced from their homes in 1948 when Israel was created on Palestinian land.

According to the family, “After the Nakba (1948), we paid rent to the Jordanian government’s Custodian of Enemy Property, and after the occupation of the West Bank in 1967, the property moved to the Custodian General of the Israeli occupation authorities, who then coerced all residents to sign a renewable yearly lease. Then in 2009, they refused to renew the lease claiming that there were Jewish heirs. The alleged heirs filed legal procedures at Israeli courts asking to evacuate us, and since that time we have been fighting legal battles in courts to try and keep our house. A final decision to evacuate the house was made in 2016.”

Israeli Colonists Place Tents, Mobile Homes, On Palestinian Lands Near Nablus
Picture
A group of illegal Israeli colonists invaded, Monday, privately-owned Palestinian lands in Jaloud village, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and installed mobile homes and a tent, in an area just a few meters away from a new under-construction colony.

Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian Authority official who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, told the WAFA Palestinian News Agency that the colonists prepared a road leading to the newly installed homes, which were set up on nearly 30 Dunams of agricultural lands.

Daghlas added that the Israeli army recently prevented the Palestinians from entering their lands to harvest their wheat, and today, the colonists started installing their new colony on the same lands, just meters away from “Amichai” under-construction illegal colony, which is being built to relocate colonists who were removed from Amona colonialist outpost this past February.

Israel Delivers Eviction Orders Against Six Homes In Jerusalem
Picture
The Israeli Authorities delivered, Sunday, eviction orders targeting homes of six Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, in occupied East Jerusalem, and informing them that they have thirty days to evacuate.

The Sheik Jarrah Local committee said that the orders were delivered on the third day of Al-Adha Muslim feast, and that the properties belong to several families, including Tarwa, Shalalda and Bader.

It added that thirty Palestinians live in the targeted properties; most of them are renters, and whenever renew their releases, they face further Israeli restrictions.

Dozens of Palestinian families have been renting homes and apartments in the western part of Sheikh Jarrah prior to Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967.

After the war, Israel initiated a massive campaign to control the homes and apartment buildings, and placed most of them under the so-called ” Property Law,” which granted it control over them, despite the fact the most families have official ownership papers.

In related news, Israeli officers invaded the home of Ayyoub Shamasna, also in Sheikh Jarrah, and demanded the family to leave voluntarily before September 9th.

Israel is trying to settle at least 400 Israeli families in Sheikh Jarrah within the coming five years, and in the process, plans to link Mount Scopus with Road #1 and Mea She’arim in West Jerusalem.

Last week on Tuesday, the Israeli army ordered a halt on the construction of Palestinian residential buildings in the al-‘Eesawiyya town, in Jerusalem, allegedly for being built without a permit.

Mohammad Abu al-Hummus, a member of the Follow-Up Committee in al-‘Eesawiyya, said the soldiers and City Council officials, invaded many neighborhoods, especially in the center of the town, Mahmoud neighborhood in the eastern part, and Abu Ryala neighborhood, and distributed the orders, in addition to handing demolition orders of existing properties.

He stated that the latest orders are clear indicators of the hostile policies of the City Council against the indigenous Palestinians, especially since the council itself is renting one of the buildings, now slated for demolition.

“When we demand basic rights and services, such as schools and popular centers, they start talking about licensing and just slap us with so many impossible per-conditions, and complicated procedures,” he said, “Now they want to demolish these buildings, including a center they are renting!”

Toys Seized from Hebron Town
Picture
Israeli forces, on Thursday, seized toys during a raid into Bani Naim, a town to the east of Hebron, in the southern West Bank, said local sources.

Israeli forces raided the town, ransacked toy shops and took bead guns, paintball guns, fireworks, and laser pointers, citing lack of permits as a pretext.

The commander of the military forces, according to WAFA, plastered a statement at the shops’ doors banning the possession of such toys, which he said could be used by “terrorists who threaten the security in this area”.

15 Palestinians kidnapped by Israeli forces on eve of Eid AI-Edhha
Picture
At least 15 Palestinians were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) from the West Bank at daybreak on Thursday.

Four Palestinian young men were kidnapped by the IOF from Nablus province. Another youth sustained leg injuries in clashes that burst out shortly after the occupation troops rolled into the area.

A number of Palestinian protesters choked on teargas moments after the occupation troops stormed Qalqilya province.

The IOF further wreaked havoc on civilian homes and subjected the residents to intensive questioning.

Meanwhile, Israeli military troops stormed Zabouba town, west of Jenin, and set up a military checkpoint, where Palestinian civilians were subjected to harsh crackdowns.

The Israeli army claimed, in a statement, responsibility for the abduction of 15 Palestinians at the crack of dawn.

At the same time, the occupation soldiers stormed the office of al-Hurriya radio station in al-Khalil and ruled that it be closed for six months.

The Israeli troops seized broadcasters, cameras, laptops, and audio devices. They further blew up the gates of two closed rooms in the office.

Director of al-Hurriya radio station said the seized equipment is worth over $400,000.

Army Abducts Four Palestinians Near Hebron
Picture
Several Israeli military jeeps invaded, on Thursday at dawn, the towns of Doura and Bani Neim, in the southern West Bank governorate of Hebron, searched homes and abducted four Palestinians.

Media sources in Hebron said the soldiers invaded Bani Neim town, east of the city, broke into and violently searched homes, before abducting Rami Khalil Harahsha, Mohammad Ghaleb Ed’eis, and Taleb ‘Adra.

The soldiers also invaded Beit ar-Roush al-Fouqa village, in Doura, searched many homes, and abducted a young man, identified as Matar Salem Abu Sharar.

Many military vehicles were also deployed at junctions and main roads, south of Hebron, before stopping and searching dozens of cars.

In addition, the soldiers demolished a car repair facility near the al-‘Am’ari refugee camp, in al-Biereh city, in central West Bank.

Israel razes Palestinian house in Lod city
Picture
The Israeli municipality on Wednesday morning demolished the foundation and remaining parts of a Palestinian house in Lod city in the central district of Israel after it forced its owners to knock it down with their own hands a few months ago.

Israeli police forces at dawn stormed and cordoned off the neighborhood where the house is located before bulldozers embarked on removing its remaining structure.

The municipality justified its action by claiming the house was built with no permit, although the owners’ requests to obtain construction authorization were always declined.

Al-Faqir family, who owns the house, said it was built to accommodate one of its members who was going to get married soon.

The family complains that the Israeli authorities refuse to give the Arab natives of the city construction permits or find housing solutions for them.

Netanyahu vows to never dismantle W. Bank settlements
Picture
A few days after meeting a White House delegation to discuss avenues for restarting peace talks with the Palestinians, Israeli premier Benjamin declared Monday that he would never evacuate Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which he called Samaria.

“We are here to stay forever. There will be no more uprooting of settlements in the land of Israel. This is the inheritance of our ancestors. This is our land,” Netanyahu said, addressing a large crowd of Jewish settlers at an event held in the illegal settlement of Barkan to celebrate 50 years of Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank.

"There will be no more uprooting of settlements in the land of Israel. It has been proven that it does not help peace," he said. "We have uprooted settlements. What did we get? We received missiles. It will not happen anymore,” he confirmed further.

Netanyahu was referring to Israel’s 2005 withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the dismantling of settlements there after its troops faced persistent fierce resistance from the Palestinians. The next year, the popular Hamas Movement won the Palestinian legislative elections, but its rival Fatah, Israel and other foreign powers did not accept that.

"So we will not fold. We are guarding Samaria against those who want to uproot us. We will deepen our roots, build, strengthen and settle," Netanyahu told the attendees.

Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which are considered illegal by the international community, have been at the crux of peace talks for long years.

Successive US presidents have considered the settlements an obstacle to peace and have called for, at the least, a halt to their expansion, but current president Donald Trump seems to be less critical, in his press remarks, of Israel’s settlement construction than his predecessors.

Some political analysts accuse Trump and his right-wing administration of supporting settlement construction in camera.

10 Palestinian buildings to be demolished by Israeli forces in J'lem
Picture
Israeli municipal crews on Tuesday morning distributed demolition orders targeting 10 Palestinian buildings in al-Issawiya village, northeast of Occupied Jerusalem.

Member of al-Issawiya Follow-Up Committee, Mohamed Abu al-Hums, said Israeli municipal staff, escorted by heavily-armed forces, stormed al-Issawiya and notified the demolition of 10 civilian structures.

The targeted buildings include commercial and public structures.

Palestinian Family Wins High Court Ruling Evicting Colonist From Home In Hebron
Picture
The Hebron Reconstruction Committee managed to achieve an Israeli High Court ruling evicting Israeli colonists, illegally occupying “Abu Rajab” home, in the southern part of the West Bank, after the family proved its legal ownership of the property.

The court also asked the prosecution to ensure the eviction of the colonist, to which the prosecutor’s office responded that they needed a week to “negotiate with the settlers,” and if no agreement is reached, they “will be evicted by force at a later date.”

Resident Hazem Abu Rajab Tamimi, one of the owners of the property, said the Israeli ruling consists of 35 pages, adding that the family lawyers were not informed about its contents until they demanded a copy.

“The ruling is a very positive development,” he said, “We hope that the illegal colonists will be removed from our home as soon as possible,” he added.

Following the ruling, the colonists illegally occupying the property, assaulted a 55-year-old woman from Abu Rajab family, causing minor cuts and bruises, before local medics moved to a clinic.

Abu Rajab stated that, since the colonists occupied the first and second floors of the building, they have been constantly harassing the family, but it remained steadfast and determined to stay here, and regain their lawful ownership of their own home.

“For more than three weeks, the colonists have been trying to keep us out of our own home, but we will never leave; we will not abandon it for them to occupy,” he said.

Palestinian Forced to Demolish Own Home
Picture
Israeli occupation forces imposed an order on Palestinian man, Sanad Al-Faqeer, to demolish his home Saturday in Lod, under the pretext of “unauthorized construction.”

He demolished his home in order to avoid paying huge sums should the Lod Municipality itself demolish the home, according to Al Ray.

The issues of land and housing are the most crucial problems in the mixed Arab-Jewish cities, such as Lod, Ramla, Jaffa, and Dahmash village; as there are dozens of homes threatened with demolition.

Israeli settlers grab Palestinian land, water sources in Madama
Picture
Israeli settlers have attempted to hold sway over new Palestinian lands and water resources in Nablus’s southern town of Madama in favor of illegal settlement expansion.

According to activists from Madama town, a series of snapshots propagated on social media networks show Israeli settler hordes from Yitzhar illegal settlement as grabbing hold of a Palestinian land tract in the area.

The Israeli settlers are also caught on pictures while transferring water lines to an adjacent swimming pool and turning a fertile land planted with almonds and figs to a touristic zone.

The settlers also launched calls for a mass presence in the area so as to impose a new fait accompli on the ground.

Madama village council announced the launch of a project to document the Israeli violations against Palestinian land and water resources in the area.

IOF raids homes, kidnaps two Palestinians in W. Bank
Picture
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) last night and at dawn Saturday raided homes and kidnapped two Palestinian citizens in different West Bank areas.

Local sources reported that Israeli soldiers last night arrested a young man called Yousef Sarahneh after detaining him for a while at the Container checkpoint, east of Bethlehem. The reason for his arrest is still unknown.

Another young man called Hamadah Abiyat was handed a summons for interrogation from the Shin Bet after soldiers stormed at dawn Wadi Abu Fariha area, east of Bethlehem.

The IOF also raided at dawn Jenin refugee camp and ransacked several homes. One citizen identified as Mahmoud Nassar was rounded up during the IOF campaign.

In a separate incident, the Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem handed several Palestinian home owners in Silwan district, south of the Aqsa Mosque, summonses ordering them to visit its headquarters in the city.

The summonses are about the homes which the Israeli municipality intends to demolish in Silwan at the pretext of unlicensed construction, according to local sources.

The Israeli occupation authority seeks to demolish many Palestinian homes in Silwan in order to build a park for Jewish settlers.

Settlers raze Palestinian land near Salfit
Picture
Eyewitnesses reported on Saturday morning that Israeli settlers' bulldozers razed an Islamic Waqf (endowment) land near Ezbat Abu al-Basal to the west of Salfit.

They told the PIC reporter that a large factory was previously built on this land by settlers to be part of factories belonging to the nearby Ariel settlement.

For his part, Palestinian researcher Khalid Maali said that settlers have seized part of the Islamic Waqf lands in Salfit in the land-razing operations conducted in the industrial area of Ariel settlement.

Maali affirmed that Israel's settlement expansionist practices in the West Bank, which violate international humanitarian law, constitute a prelude to ending the Palestinian state dream by dividing the West Bank into isolated cantons.
