The Ministry of Education said in a statement, on Wednesday, that this attack, which coincides with International Children’s Day, constitutes flagrant violation of all international conventions, customs, rights, charters, and laws, especially the right to education, international humanitarian law, and comes as a clear targeting of the sanctity of educational institutions and an attempt of the occupation to control the educational system in Jerusalem.

After Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, made a statement Monday reversing decades of US policy, and contradicting international law, by saying that the US did not consider Israel’s colonial takeovers of Palestinian land to be illegal, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu approved a massive expansion of colonial settlements.
The bill approved Tuesday by the Israeli Prime Minister would authorize the Israeli annexation by military force of the Jordan Valley, home to tens of thousands of Palestinians, many of whom can trace their roots in that area back hundreds and thousands of years.
Netanyahu had campaigned in the recent election partly on a promise to annex the Jordan Valley, the most fertile region of the West Bank, into Israel.
When Pompeo made his statement Monday, Netanyahu heralded it as an ‘historic’ moment, and promptly moved forward with the Jordan Valley Annexation bill.
Though this bill had been introduced in the Knesset several weeks ago, it was subject to a mandatory waiting period before coming to a vote. Netanyahu, as Prime Minister, was able to ‘fast track’ the bill, which will now be voted on next week.
Because of the transition period in the Israeli government right now (Benny Gantz had received a majority of the votes in the September election, but has been thus far unable to muster the necessary coalition of parties to form a government), Knesset (Parliament) Member Haskel stated Tuesday that this is a “one time only chance” to pass the bill.
Pompeo’s Monday announcement was the third major policy shift toward Israel that the Trump administration has taken during his presidency – all of which have denied Palestinians their right to exist, their right to self-determination as people and their internationally-recognized right to return to land from which they were expelled by military force.
The first two were the moving of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and the recognition of the Golan Heights (a part of Syria that was taken over by Israel in the 1967 war and militarily occupied since then) as part of Israel.
Since its creation in 1948, Israel has never officially declared its borders, and has expanded its territory through military force in the 71 years since then. With each expansion, more Palestinians lose their homes and land and become refugees, forming what has become the largest refugee population on earth.
The Jordan Valley, home to the city of Jericho, lies just west of the Jordan River, and is an area of farmland and orchards – despite the salination and depletion of the river by Israel, it still provides a source of irrigation for farmers in the Jordan Valley. But with the passage of the bill, these indigenous Palestinian farmers and landowners will be subjected to military force and their property taken from them and turned into Israeli settlements.
A September report by Al Jazeera found that many Palestinian residents of Jordan Valley have already been impacted by Israeli colonization of their land and water.
“All our water sources are under Israeli control. We have very little drinking water let alone water for our crops,” Ahmad Atiyat, whose family moved to the area after they were evicted by the Israeli military from along the Jordan River in 1967, told Al Jazeera.
Hussein Saida, another farmer and member of the local municipality, agreed.
“We face ongoing challenges, especially when it comes to accessing our water wells and maintaining them to water our crops. Our water wells are under de facto Israeli control,” said Saida.
All Israeli settlements are considered to be in direct violation of international law.

The Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem demolished on Tuesday afternoon a Palestinian house in al-Ashqariya neighborhood of Beit Hanina town at the pretext of unlicensed construction. video
Israeli police forces, who escorted the bulldozers and a municipal crew, forcibly removed the Alloun family from the house, physically assaulted its members and injured one of them in his leg.
Homeowner Majdi Alloun said that municipal employees only gave him a quarter of an hour to procure and pay 25,000 shekels in order to stop the demolition process, and later the bulldozers embarked on knocking down his house.
Alloun added that municipal workers removed some of the furniture from the house and gave him only five minutes to take away his belongings before they razed it to the ground while there was still many things inside.
The municipality had already forced Alloun to pay a construction penalty worth 40,000 shekels in 2016.
Alloun was living with his wife and kids in the house, which he built in 2011.
Demolishing 3 houses and displacing 18 individuals
On Tuesday, the occupation municipality’s bulldozers demolished three houses in the village of Jabal al-Mukabber and Beit Hanina in Jerusalem under the pretext of building without a permit.
Abbasi family house
Wadi Hilweh Information Center reported that the Israeli occupation authorities demolished the house of Fatima Abbasi in Jabal al-Mukabber village, south of Jerusalem.
Jalal Abbasi, Fatima’s brother, said that the occupation forces and municipal crews stormed the house in the morning when nobody was inside, ashis sister went out to work and her children to universities and schools. His sister was able to reach her house to see what is happening, but the forces initially prevented her from entering and then allowed her for several minutes where she took home some basic belongings.
Abbasi added: "The demolition took place without prior warning. About a month ago,the last hearing was held and I was awaiting the decision”. He pointed out that they have been trying for 10 years to license the house but to no avail, while the court imposed a NIS 130 thousand fine on them, which she is committed to paying her monthly payment until 2021.
The house has an area of nearly 150 square meters where 5 individuals lived.
Khalayleh family house
Khalayleh family was forced to self-demolish its house in the village of Jabal al-Mukabber, in order to avoid the payment of a NIS 100,000 fine, demolition costs for the municipality's staff and the accompanying forces.
The owner of the house, Mousa Awwad Khalayleh, said that the occupation municipality forced him to demolish his 130-year-old house, which he recently renovated with a license from the municipality. They gave him only minutes to demolish it or their bulldozers will execute the demolition on his expense, in addition to a fine that will be imposed on him. video
He said: "The municipal crews accompanied by the forces remained stationed in the vicinity of the house until the demolition of the whole house, and then they handed us a decision to the need to move the rubble of the house to a designated place or we will be fined, and the bulldozer that carried out the demolition will be fined too."
Khalayleh family explained that they recently obtained a "renovation license" from the occupation municipality, and have already begun to do so because the house is old. The family which consists of 7 individuals moved to rent, and carried out the restoration as stated in the license that was issued by the municipality’s engineer without any violations. The family was then surprised to find a demolition order from the Ministry of Interior placed on their property under the pretext of building without a permit.
The family added: "We started the conflict in the courts to cancel the demolition order, and we were able to bring a map of the place from the Department of Maps and Survey in Tel Aviv, which proved the existence of the house, and then the Ministry of Interior claimed that we have violated the renovation license and the demolition order wasratified by the Supreme Court."
The family said: "The occupation authorities have confiscated our lands over the past years to build the apartheid wall that separated Jabal al-Mukabber from the village of Eastern Sawahreh, and to build a military barrier, and uprooted hundreds of olive trees, which used to support three families, and today forced us to demolish our house that existed before the existence of the occupation on this land."
Allon Family
The occupation municipality’s bulldozers demolished the house of Majdi Mustafa Allon, who confirmed that the demolition took place without prior notice, as a "house permit” file was due to be opened next week.
He explained that the house has been in existence for seven years, and has an area of 120 square meters, where 6 people lived.
The family explained that the municipality imposed a construction violation worth NIS 40,000 which they have been committed to paying their monthly payments.

Israeli soldiers demolished, Tuesday, a Palestinian home in Jabal al-Mokabber, southeast of occupied East Jerusalem.
Media sources said dozens of soldiers and police officers, accompanied by bulldozers, invaded Deir as-Sinna area in Jabal al-Mokabber, and demolished a home, owned by Fuad Gharouf, from Jericho.
The sources added that the soldiers surrounded the entire area of the property, and prevented the Palestinians from entering or leaving it, before demolishing the property under the pretext of being built without a permit. video video
Israel’s policy of home demolitions is illegal under International Law, and constitute a grave violation of various international treaties, especially since they constitute collective punishment that targets entire families.

Israeli soldiers demolished, Tuesday, two Palestinian homes owned by two siblings from the al-‘Arroub refugee camp, north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
Resident Khaled Khanna, said dozens of soldiers, accompanied by bulldozers, invaded the refugee camp and demolished his home and the home of his brother, Nabil.
He added that the demolished properties are in the al-Bass area and were 200 square/meters each.
The demolition orders were issued a year ago, and the two siblings have been filing appeals with Israeli courts but to no avail.
The Israeli army is claiming that the two homes were not licensed by the so-called Civil Administration Office, the administrative and executive branch of Israel’s illegal military occupation of Palestine.
