The Israeli Security Agency (Shabak) lifted, on Sunday evening, a gag order on the abduction of a Palestinian who is believed to be behind the death of an Israeli soldier during an invasion into Ya’bad town, near the northern West Bank city of Jenin, on May 12, 2020.
The Shabak stated that the Palestinian, Nathmi Abu Bakr, 49, is one of the dozens who were taken prisoner shortly after the death of the soldier, and in the hours and days that followed the incident, during extensive military invasions and searches in the town.
The allegation is that Nathmi went onto the rooftop of his own home, and dropped a slab on the invading soldiers, killing one, identified as Amit Ben Ygal, 21.
However, the only link between Nathmi and the deceased soldier is that the slab was reportedly dropped from his rooftop, which is also easily accessible to others.
After the death of the soldier during the extensive military invasion into Ya’bad, the soldiers stormed and violently searched dozens of homes, causing excessive damage, in addition to abducting scores of Palestinians.
On his part, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, “saluted the army and the Shabak for the arrest,” and stated that he ordered the demolition of the Nathmi’s home, an act of collective punishment that violates International Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Israeli Troops reportedly knocked down, on Sunday, several Palestinian-owned grocery stands near the Israeli-controlled Qalandia checkpoint, to the north of internationally-recognized occupied East Jerusalem.
Palestinian media sources and witnesses said that an Israeli army bulldozer began knocking down the stands, owned by vendors and some other small commercial outlets, abruptly and without any prior warnings or warrants.
In the meantime, Israeli troops physically assaulted many Palestinian residents near the same checkpoint, before they abducted one of them. The assault by Israeli soldiers sparked local Palestinians’ to throw stones at the soldiers in protest.
No further details or casualties among Palestinians were reported.
Harassment by Israeli troops, against Palestinian residents in and around the internationally-recognized occupied East Jerusalem, have reportedly escalated over the past couple of years, mainly since the US administration of President, Donald Trump, recognized the entire city of Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel.

Israeli military ordered today a halt on the construction of a basic school in the village of Kisan, near the city of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.
A large Israeli military force raided the village and ordered the workers at the site of construction to stop all works, under the pretext that the school is being built without an Israeli permit.
The area where the construction is ordered to stop is located in Area C of the West Bank, under full Israeli administrative and military control, where Israel rarely issues construction permits to Palestinians, forcing many people to build without permits.
Israel refuses to allow Palestinian development of any kind in Area C, which makes up over 60 percent of the total area of the occupied West Bank, and often demolishes what Palestinians build despite the Israeli ban.

Israeli forces demolished today a Palestinian residential tin house in the town of Beit Ummar in the south of the occupied West Bank on the pretext it was built without a permit, displacing a family of 10 members, according to Mohammad Awad, a local anti-settlements activist.
The house owner, Ali al-Allami, built a house of tin on the location where a previous house he owned was demolished by the Israeli army on the pretext it was built without a permit.
Awad told WAFA that the forces demolished the tin house located near the Jerusalem-Hebron road before seizing its contents.
The Israeli army demolished last year the Allami house under the pretext it was built in an area classified as “C”, which is under full Israeli military control, prompting him to build the house of tin on the same site to shelter his family.
