IOF razes tents, structures in Ras al-Ahmar
Picture
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday morning demolished tents and structures belonging to Palestinian citizens in Ras al-Ahmar hamlet of the northern Jordan Valley.

Local official Moataz Bisharat said that a bulldozer escorted by Israeli soldiers stormed Ras al-Ahmar and embarked on razing everything in the Bedouin area.

The IOF had carried out similar demolitions in the hamlet about one month ago.

The demolitions are believed to be part of an Israeli plan to force local residents in the northern Jordan Valley to leave their areas.

Israeli court gives green light to demolish home in Ara
Picture
The Israeli Magistrate’s Court in Hadera on Monday rejected the appeal filed by the Joulani family of Ara, near Haifa, against the administrative demolition order on their house, and the court refused to freeze the demolition.

The decision came at a time when the Haifa District Committee, on Wednesday, demolished the home of Ibrahim Marzouq from Wadi al-Qasab neighborhood in nearby Ar’ara under the pretext of building without permits.

On Thursday, the Israeli court discussed the Joulani family’s appeal to stop the administrative demolition order and freeze the demolition procedures.

Dalia Jabr Joulani, her husband and four children face the risk of displacement and may find themselves homeless at any moment, as a result of the administrative demolition order against their 96-meter family house.

The family was forced to build this house without a permit, because they needed a place to house their family of six. In March 2019, the house was built with the consent of the neighbors and the family moved in. The Joulanis do not accept the Israeli government’s contention that this land was annexed for construction.

The Joulani family were surprised by the administrative demolition order issued against their house on July 11, 2019. They went to a lawyer, who applied for a temporary order from the court to postpone the demolition.

As a consequence of the rejection of the appeal, filed by lawyer Rami Jazmawi, the demolition may be implemented at any time. Dalia Jabr Joulani says, “since we received the court’s decision about our appeal, the Haifa municipality bulldozers could raid us at any moment. Our children are fearful of demolition and displacement and this fear of the unknown is having a damaging psychological effect on them”.

This is the third time in less than a year that homes in Ar’ara and Daher have faced demolition. Additionally, more than 50 homeowners and shops, on both sides of Wadi Ara Street, have been fined. The fine for each house was 300 thousand shekels (85,500 USD), while the shops were fined up to 600 thousand shekels each (171,000 USD).

The Israeli authorities told shop owners to demolish their own shops or face an additional fine of 1,500 shekels (430 USD) per day that the shop remains intact.

Water Series: IOF destroy farmland east of Hebron – ISM speaks to owner Ghassan Jaber
This is the first of a series of reports documenting the control and devastation of water sources by Israel as a tool of oppression.

On Thursday 18th July Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) came to the Al Baqa’a area, east of Hebron, and destroyed an irrigation system that carried water to two agricultural fields, growing around 10,000 tomato plants each.

Ghassan Jaber, 40, is the son of the owner of one of the fields. His family have been farming this land for generations. He told ISM that about thirty IOF arrived in five military jeeps at 7am. Jaber asked the IOF to show him a military order or permission form from Israeli authorities but they would not speak to him, instead forcefully evacuating him and his family away from the tomato fields.

The soldiers cut the majority of the pipes that make up the irrigation system, crushing tomato plants in the process.

They confiscated three of Jaber’s pesticide machines, each costing around 4000 NIS (1,100 USD). The family are currently watering the plants and administering pesticide by hand, which has greatly increased their workload. Since the incident, many of the tomato plants have died.

This week, Jaber and his family are replacing the cut pipes. He estimates that this will cost about 40,000 NIS (11,000 USD), not including the additional labour costs. Jaber and his sons told ISM that they would be working for the next 24 hours to replace the pipes in time to save the crops.

The IOF claim that Jaber’s farm is diverting water from the nearby illegal Israeli settlement Kiryat Arba. The farm has traditionally taken its water from a well owned by the Jaber family, situated on their land. In 2009, the IOF blocked the well with rubble rendering it unusable.

It cost Jaber about 30,000 NIS (8,500 USD) to replace this well, and last winter the IOF blocked it again. Jaber decided to build a hidden groundwater well so that the IOF would not be able to find and destroy it. This cost Jaber about 150,000 NIS (42,500 USD). It is this groundwater well that now supplies the irrigation system.

On Thursday, Jaber told the soldiers that he is using his own groundwater but they went ahead with the destruction regardless.
Jaber told ISM he is concerned that once he replaces the irrigation system, the soldiers will return and destroy it again.

The extended Jaber family own and farm a lot of the land around Al Baqa’a, which is the most fertile land in Hebron. It falls in area C, under Israeli control. Kiryat Arba is very close by, making this highly contested land.

The Palestinian population in this area is small, but they own most of the land. The IOF have banned the construction of new homes on this land and have previously demolished houses here, most recently in 2010. A month ago, the IOF confiscated 24 dunams of Palestinian owned land in this area.

Jaber says that this incident is not just about his family, farming and water but is linked to bigger political tensions. The IOF, he says, are targeting the Palestinian people’s sources of income and self-sustainability. They are damaging the local food supply: he predicts that as a result of the incident the price of tomatoes in Hebron will rise.

This systematic assault on the everyday lives of Palestinian people is part of the Israeli government’s comprehensive warfare against Palestine.

IOF destroy irrigation system of Palestinian farm for the fourth time
By Alistair Avon/ ISM/ Hebron/

Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on Thursday 18 July stormed Al Baqa’a village, east of Hebron, and destroyed an irrigation system that carries water to two agricultural fields, growing around 10,000 tomato plants each. This land has been farmed by the Jaber family for generations.

The son of the owner of one of the fields, Ghassan Jaber, 40, told ISM that about 30 soldiers arrived in five military jeeps at 7am on Thursday.  When he asked the soldiers to show him a military order, they would not speak to him, instead forcefully evacuating him and his family away from the tomato fields.

When ISM met him, Jaber and his sons told us that they would be working for the next 24 hours to replace the pipes in time to save the crops.

The IOF alleged that Jaber’s farm is diverting water from the nearby illegal Israeli settlement Kiryat Arba. The farm has traditionally taken its water from a well owned by the Jaber family, situated on their land. In 2009, the IOF blocked the well with rubble rendering it unusable.

It is this groundwater well that now supplies the irrigation system. Because the IOF do not know the source of the farm’s water, they have assumed Jaber is illegally using settler water. On Thursday, Jaber told the soldiers that he is using his own groundwater but they went ahead with the destruction regardless.

Jaber told us he is concerned that once he replaces the irrigation system, the soldiers will return and destroy it again. The extended Jaber family own and farm a lot of the land around Al Baqa’a, which is the most fertile land in Hebron. It falls in area C, under Israeli control. Kiryat Arba, the biggest illegal Israeli settlement in Hebron, is very close by, making this highly contested land.

The Palestinian population in this area is small, but they own most of the land. The IOF have banned the construction of new homes on this land and have previously demolished houses here, most recently in 2010. A month ago, the IOF confiscated 24 dunams of Palestinian owned land in this area.

Israeli Soldiers Illegally Confiscate Palestinian Lands In Sur Baher
Picture
Israeli soldiers invaded, Tuesday, Sur Baher Palestinian town, south of occupied East Jerusalem, and confiscated privately-owned Palestinian lands to use for what the City Council called “public facilities.”

Hamada Hamada, the head of Wadi al-Hummus Committee in Sur Baher, said dozens of soldiers and police officers, accompanied by personnel of the Jerusalem City Council, invaded the area, and confiscated five Dunams (1.23 Acres) and 200 square/meters (2152.78 Feet), owned by Omar Ahmad Dabash, in addition to four Dunams (0.98 Acres) owned by Yasser Ali Dweiyat.

Hamada added that the lands are close to Talpiot area, which was built on illegally confiscated Palestinian lands owned by Sur Baher residents.

He also said that the Palestinians filed appeals with Israeli courts but were unable to get them to reverse the confiscation orders of their lands.

Israel claims it intends to build various projects, including a police station, and a public center in addition to a kindergarten for Israeli colonialist settlers.

The Palestinians who owned the lands were denied the right to use them for construction or agriculture.

It is worth mentioning that the illegal confiscation orders were first issued in the year 1999, when some residents went to the City Council to obtain construction permits to build on their own lands.

A week ago, Israeli forces launched a large-scale destruction operation against civilian property in Wadi al-Humus neighborhood, in Sur Baher casing hundreds of Palestinians to lose their shelter.

Israeli Settlers, Under Israeli Military Guard, Invade Nablus and Al-Aqsa Mosques
Picture
In two separate incidents early Tuesday morning, hundreds of Israeli settlers invaded an area near Nablus that they are trying to take over to annex into Israel, while separately , dozens of other Israeli settlers invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem under heavy Israeli military guard.

In Nablus, four Palestinians were wounded by live ammunition, while dozens more suffered from tear gas inhalation during clashes with the Israeli occupation forces when around 1300 Israeli settlers, accompanied by soldiers, invaded an area east of Nablus.

Wafa News Agency reported that confrontations broke out when hundreds of settlers stormed the mosque located east of Nablus.

Four Palestinians were wounded by live bullets in the lower limbs.

They were taken to Rafidya Hospital for treatment. Dozens more inhaled tear gas. During the confrontations, after the Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas canisters.

According to Israeli sources, 1,300 settlers stormed the compound early in the morning, heavily guarded by the Israeli occupation army.

In the second incident, in Jerusalem, dozens of Israeli settlers on Tuesday morning renewed their provocative incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Bab al-Mughrabi Gate, where the occupation forces have maintained a presence since they occupied Jerusalem in 1967 .

Members of the special units of the Israeli police regularly provide protection to groups of right-wing Israeli settlers during their tours and attempts to perform prayers and rituals in the mosque.

These settlers have as their stated purpose to remove the mosque, and replace it with a Jewish synagogue. To that end, they have repeatedly invaded the mosque grounds, as well as dug underneath it in an attempt to cause it to collapse.

These invasions are often carried out in the vicinity of the building and chapel of Bab al-Rahma on the eastern side of the blessed mosque.

To facilitate the entry of the Jewish Israeli settlers, the Israeli occupation forces prevent the entry of Muslim worshipers.

The al-Aqsa Mosque is considered the third holiest site in Islam, and is a place of pilgrimage for Muslims around the world.

Israeli settlers seize Palestinian lands in Jordan Valley
Picture
Israeli settlers on Monday took over privately-owned Palestinian lands in the northern Jordan Valley.

Activist Mu'taz Bsharat said that Israeli settlers seized about 100-dunum Palestinian lands near Hamdat settlement in the northern Jordan Valley and started razing them.

Bsharat affirmed that the Palestinian owners of the stolen lands have official documents proving their ownership.

He added that Israeli settlers, backed by their government, have recently seized large tracts of Palestinian lands in the Jordan Valley in an attempt to push the Palestinians to leave the area.

Report : Israel continues ethnic cleansing and house demolishing in occupied East Jerusalem
Picture
The National Bureau for Defending Land and Resisting Settlements said in his latest weekly report , that the Israeli occupation authorities continue the policy of ethnic cleansing and demolishing houses of Palestinians, especially in Jerusalem and its surroundings, ignoring all warnings issued by the UN, international groups and human rights organizations covered by the high court, demolished 100 apartments in Wadi Al-Homs being close to the Annexation Wall.

Worth mentioning here that the ICJ legal opinion issued on July 9th, 2004 affirmed that Israel violates the International Law and called for the removal of the wall as well as repairing damages of official and public institutions and departments, including village and municipal councils.

The buildings in question that were demolished owned by Ghaleb Abu Hadwan, Ali Hamadeh, Na’im Muslim, Ala ‘Amira, Akram Zawahra, Bilal Al-Kiswani, Rafat Obaidat, Jafar Abu Humaid, Tariq Al-ahamid and Moh’d Idris Abu Tair.

It should be noted that this area, which has been demolished by the Israeli occupation authorities fall within the areas A, taking into account that the buildings have obtained all the necessary permits, with an area estimated by 300 donums.

On the other hand, the demolition was met with widespread condemnation by humanitarian officials, Jamie McGoldrick, UNRWA Director of West Bank, Gwyn Lewis and the head of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, James Henin, they asserted that Israel’s actions violated international humanitarian law, and that the policy pursued by Israel in the destruction of Palestinian property is not in line with the obligations imposed by international humanitarian law, especially the 4th Geneva Convention of 1949.

With the endless US support for the occupation government and the settlers, the USA prevented an attempt by Kuwait, Indonesia and South Africa to issue a statement from the UN Security Council condemning the demolition of Palestinian homes.

On the other hand, the National Bureau welcomed McGoldrick, Lewis, Henin, Lenk and EU missions stances, which condemned the policy of demolishing Palestinian homes, and called on Israel to respect its obligations considering it as the occupying power.

The international community called on the ICC to invite General Prosecutor, Fatu Bensuda to refer the crimes of the demolition of Palestinian homes and crimes of ethnic cleansing to the judicial branch of the court as well as opening an immediate investigation. Within the same context, it warned Israel of demolishing Al-Khan Al-Ahmar village before the Knesset elections, which will be held on Sep. 17th.

Last week, the settler movement” Regaim” published large ads in the newspapers, under the headline “State of Terror Behind the Curve,” claiming that the Palestinians built 28651 new buildings in area C, which is under Israeli control according to Oslo Accord. The “Regaim” movement is calling on ministers and Knesset members to begin working immediately to prevent the establishment of a terrorists state.

Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman said that Al-Khan Al-Ahmmar is “an indication of Palestinian Authority’s control of the state’s land. On July 10, Netanyahu stated that Israel under his leadership will not repeat the mistakes of the past. “

Since 2017, the Israeli occupation authorities have facilitated the construction of about 16 new settlement outposts scattered throughout the West Bank, from the southern Hebron hills to the northern Jordan Valley, in the Gush Etzion settlement blocs between Bethlehem and Hebron, and from Matei Binyamin from Jerusalem to Ariel settlement on Salfit lands. Construction is being carried out on land that the occupation considered as “state land”, although decisions have been issued to demolish some of them, but not implemented.

The Peace Now Movement conducted a survey of 16 settlement outposts, noting that since 2012, 31 new illegal outposts have been established, including 21 farms that occupy large areas for grazing cattles. Fifteen outposts were also legitimized and turned into settlements or neighborhoods in existing settlements. In the meantime, the occupation authorities are legitimizing 35 settlement outposts.

Within the context of supporting the Israeli judiciary in general and the settlers in particular, the Judge of the Israeli Lod Court attempted to put pressure on the Israeli Attorney General’s Office to amend the indictment against a settler involved in the burning and murder of Dawabsha family in Duma, Nablus, at the end of July 2015.
