Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, head of the higher Islamic commission in the holy city, has appealed to all concerned parties to stand by the Palestinian citizens whose homes were demolished by the Israeli authorities in Qalandiya town, north of Occupied Jerusalem.
Sheikh Sabri called for helping the affected people to rebuild their homes.
He made his remarks during the Friday khutba (sermon) which he delivered in the sit-in tent in the town.
He called for supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian natives in the town and not leaving them alone in the face of the Israeli occupation authorities.
“The occupation’s policy of demolishing citizens’ homes and annexing and seizing lands is based on an aggressive strategy being implemented through high-level coordination between the different arms and institutions of the Israeli government to strengthen settlement expansion and kill the two-state solution,” he stated.
Residents from the town erected the sit-in tent last July after the Israeli authorities demolished 11 buildings of 30 apartments at the pretext of unlicensed construction. They seek support to rebuild their homes and protect others threatened with demolition.

Israeli settlers, on Thursday, reportedly took over a Palestinian-owned area of land in al-Humma region of the northern Jordan Valley, and laid down an infrastructure, according to a local official.
M’otaz Bsharat, in charge of the settlement file in the Jordan Valley, said that settlers from the illegal Israeli settlements of Mechora and Sal’it, began placing wooden boards on land belonging to Palestinian residents in al-Humma almost a week ago.
Settlers laid further infrastructure, including electricity and water lines.
According to B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights center, since 1967, Israel has established over a hundred settlements in the occupied West Bank.
“These settlements were established on vast tracts of land taken from the Palestinians, in breach of international humanitarian law.
“The very existence of the settlements violates Palestinian human rights, including the right to property, equality, a decent standard of living and freedom of movement,” the group stated, according to WAFA.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Thursday at dawn, a print shop in the al-Ram town, north of occupied East Jerusalem, violently searched it, and confiscated all of its equipment, and printed materials.
The Israeli army released a statement confirming the invasion and confiscation, and also alleging that the print shop “produced incitement materials,” after printing posters of Misbah Abu Sbeih, who was killed by the army, on October 9th, after carrying out a drive-by shooting in Jerusalem, killing two Israelis and wounding six others.
The army said it confiscated the equipment from the print shop, and also claimed to find more materials that were regarded as incitement, including posters located in Abu Sbeih’s home, and various homes that were invaded and searched by the military after the shooting.

The Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said Tuesday that Israeli authorities demolished since the start of the year 960 Palestinian facilities, most of them were funded by international community.
Hamdallah stressed the urgent need for an international intervention to support Palestinian international efforts to end settlement construction and Israeli occupation.
Only independence would achieve economic development, he said.
He pointed out that Israeli authorities prevent Palestinian construction and economic development in Area C which constitutes 64 % of the West Bank and placed under Israeli control according to Oslo accords.
More than 960 Palestinian facilities were demolished since the beginning of 2016. 68 of them were founded by the international community itself, according to Hamdallah.
Hamdallah noted that his government plans to reduce dependence on foreign aids by establishing a national electricity company, adopting a new renewable energy law, and reducing taxes.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Thursday stormed the family home of the slain Palestinian girl Ashrakat Taha Qatnani in Nablus and took its measurements pending its demolition.
Ashrakat’s father, Taha, told a PIC news correspondent that an Israeli army patrol and an engineering unit broke into the family home in eastern Nablus, in the northern occupied West Bank, and took measurements of the building after they locked up all the family members in one room.
The Israeli intelligence officers subjected the native inhabitants to exhaustive questioning about their activities and affiliations.
17-year-old Ashrakat Taha Qatnani was shot and killed by the occupation army at the Zaatara military checkpoint, in southern Nablus, on November 22, 2015, on allegations of an anti-occupation stabbing attempt.
The Israeli occupation authorities withheld her body for over one month and a half before they handed it over to the family.

The Israeli groups, Peace Now and Ir Amim, have recently released a joint report on Israel’s settlement expansion in Batan al-Hawa neighborhood of Silwan, the most sensitive and volatile areas in Occupied Jerusalem.
The report, titled “Broken Trust: State Involvement in Private Settlement in Batan Al-Hawa, Silwan,” describes how, since 2001, the government-backed Ateret Cohanim settler organization has been working on transforming Batan al-Hawa into a large Israeli settlement through questionable acquisition of Palestinian properties and forced eviction and removal of Palestinian families who have lived in the neighborhood for decades.
The report warned that Batan al-Hawa would become the largest settlement compound in a Palestinian neighborhood in the Historic Basin of the Old City, significantly contributing to the emerging ring of settlements around the Old City, creating an irreversible reality and severely undermining the possibility of a future two-state solution.
Ateret Cohanim’s frenzied attempts to take over the Palestinian neighborhood threaten to displace 100 families, composed of 600 Palestinians, from their homes.
By the end of 2015, the settler organization had quadrupled the number of housing units in its possession, taking over a total of some 27 units in six buildings in the neighborhood. There are also 12 other Palestinian units, where an additional 51 families are living, currently pending eviction claims.
The groups accused the government of acting through the General Custodian and the Registrar of Trusts, both under the Israeli ministry of justice, to facilitate settlers’ seizure of Batan al-Hawa, as well as providing roughly one million shekels each year to fund private security to radical settlers in the hearts of Palestinian neighborhoods in east Jerusalem.
“The settlement in Batan al-Hawa is an integral part of efforts by settler organizations and Israeli authorities to consolidate Jewish control of the Old City and the surrounding Palestinian neighborhoods, to create an irreversible reality in the Holy Basin around the Old City that deliberately subverts efforts to negotiate an agreed political resolution on Jerusalem,” the groups warned.

Israeli settler gangs and occupation army on Tuesday set up mobile homes on Palestinian Bedouin lands in al-Hima Hamlet, in the northern Jordan Valley.
A PIC news correspondent quoted the Palestinian citizen Muhammad Abu Zahw as stating that Israeli settlers residing in the illegal Sal’it settlement, built on Palestinian lands in al-Malih Valley, stormed Hima Hamlet under a tight military shield and set up makeshift homes.
According to the locals, the move makes part of a preplanned Israeli scheme of ethnic cleansing.
“In the past Israel forced us out of our homes under the pretext of military maneuvering. Today, they are planning to expand illegal settlement at the expense of our own lands,” added Abu Zahw.
Abu Zahw also said that the Israeli occupation army threatened to forcibly deport the Palestinians from the area on claims that it belongs to the Israeli-occupied Area C.
Local activist Aref Daraghma said the illegal Sal’it settlement was built at the expense of Palestinian land tracts in Hima Hamlet and that new structures are being set up by the Israeli occupation in the territory as part of its intent to dislocate the Palestinian natives and relocate settler gangs.
