Tension flares in Negev as Israeli policemen arrest elder, attack locals
Picture
Israeli police forces on Thursday kidnapped the Arakib village elder and his two sons, sparking tension across the area.

Activist Saleem al-Arakib said clashes burst out between Palestinian locals and the Israeli policemen in the unrecognized Arakib village.

The Israeli policemen and border guards have been cordoning off the village and razing Palestinian lands for the fifth day running.

The activist urged Palestinians in 1948 Occupied Palestine and the human rights institutions along with the Arab MKs to intensify presence in the village and stand firm to the Israeli assaults on the village and its Bedouin inhabitants.

A number of children were rushed to hospital after they fell over during the clashes. Over the past six years, the Israeli authorities knocked down the Arakib village, which is one of 45 Palestinian villages in the Negev unrecognized by Israel, for over 100 times as part of a preplanned scheme of ethnic cleansing.

IOF closes up three Palestinian homes in al-Khalil
Picture
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) closed up the windows of three Palestinian homes in al-Khalil city after claiming they were used for manufacturing combat means, according to Israeli media sources.

The sources have not released the locations of the houses or the IDs of their owners.

The Israeli forces deliberately penalize Palestinians by blocking their homes under the pretext of being used for resistance purposes and deprive them of their right of accommodation.

The forces confiscated the fishing boats and steered them to Ashdod Israeli port.

Army Uproots Olive Trees in Salfit, “Settlers Only” Road to be Opened
Picture
Israeli soldiers, on Wednesday, uprooted olive trees in the village of Deir Istiya, Salfit governorate, under the pretext of opening a road designated for the sole use of people residing in illegal West Bank settlements.

Head of Deir Istiya council, Sa’id Zaidan, informed WAFA correspondence that Israeli forces have begun uprooting olive trees to open a new settlers only road in the town.

He noted that town officials had contacted the Palestinian military liaison with Israel and informed them of this development.

According to the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), “The destruction of farmland, which is illegal under international law, is just one form of oppression that the Palestinian farmers are facing.”

According to the OCHA monthly report for June 2016, “The allocation of public land to settlements and the takeover of private land by settler groups have reduced the space available for Palestinians to sustain their livelihoods in an increasingly fragmented West Bank and have impacted on a range of human rights.”

“Combined with the unlawful and discriminatory zoning and planning policy applied in Area C and in East Jerusalem, these settlement-related phenomena have undermined the living conditions of Palestinians and rendered them increasingly vulnerable, including to the risk of individual or mass forcible transfer.”

The report stated, “The creation of new facts on the ground through demolitions and settlement building raises questions about whether Israel’s ultimate goal is, in fact, to drive Palestinians out of certain parts of the West Bank, thereby undermining any prospect of transition to a viable Palestinian state.”

Israeli authorities raze graves in Muslim cemetery near Aqsa Mosque
Picture
Officials from Israel's antiquities authority and nature and parks authority on Tuesday afternoon desecrated under police protection the Muslim cemetery of Bab al-Rahma near the Aqsa Mosque and razed three graves.

The Islamic Waqf authority said the Israeli officials claimed they had official orders to demolish graves in the cemetery. It added that two graves and another one under construction were removed, affirming that the land of the cemetery is an Islamic endowed land and the Israeli authorities have no right to it.

Consequently, skirmishes broke out between policemen and Palestinian citizens at the cemetery.

Tafakji: Annexing Ma'aleh Adumim isolates Jerusalem from projected Palestinian State
Picture
Khalil al-Tafakji, head of the maps department at the Arab Studies Society, warned of the seriousness of annexing Ma'aleh Adumim settlement to Israel.

“It isolates Jerusalem from the projected state of Palestine”, he said. In an interview with the PIC, Tafakji said that annexing Ma'aleh Adumim along with Gosh Etzion, and Givat Zeev settlements raises the number of Israeli settlers in Occupied Jerusalem and confiscates 10% of the West Bank's area.

This splits up the West Bank into two separate parts which can be connected by those settlements only, he underlined.

Tafakji added that the Israeli decision aims at increasing the number of the Jewish population in Occupied Jerusalem so that the establishment of a Palestinian political entity in east Jerusalem will be impossible.

If the project of annexing Ma'aleh Adumim is approved, the Israeli occupation authorities will be able to carry out large-scale construction works in that settlement.

Israeli Knesset in the eighties of the past century approved two new laws that annexed Occupied Jerusalem and the occupied Golan Heights. Both laws, however, run contrary to the international law and they are not recognized by any state in the world.

Over the past four years, Palestinian-owned lands in al-Ein al-Jadida area have been exposed to several violations by Jewish settlers.

Ambassadors Protest Israeli Confiscation of West Bank Shelters
Picture
Eight ambassadors to Israel have written to the Israeli military accusing it of breaking international humanitarian law by confiscating shelters for Bedouins in the occupied West Bank that were paid for by European governments.

The letter, sent privately to Maj Gen Yoav Mordechai earlier this month – and leaked to the Guardian – refers to two incidents in May and June of this year in which shelters funded by EU governments for Bedouins in the occupied territories were confiscated.

The first incident took place on 16 May when the Israeli civil administration dismantled and confiscated “materials for 10 residential caravans in the community of Jabal al Baba, displacing 49 people” from what the letter describes as a “vulnerable” Bedouin community.

The second incident referred to the “dismantling and confiscation” of seven caravans in Sateh el Bahir, six of which were being used as homes and the seventh as a kindergarten. Six families, numbering 26 individuals, were displaced.

The letter is the latest evidence of growing tension between donor governments and Israel over EU aid to threatened Bedouin communities in the part of the occupied Palestinian territories designated as Area C, where Israel has full security and administrative control.

Israeli Legislators Seek to Legalize West Bank Settlement
Picture
Haaretz Israeli daily newspaper, on Sunday, said that right-wing lawmakers from the Jewish Home nationalist party will attempt, today, to legalize expropriation of private Palestinian land in West Bank settlements through a bill, despite Prime Mininster Netanyahu’s “opposition” to it.

The bill is reportedly directed at Amona illegal settlement, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah. Haaretz added, according to the PNN, that the settlement was built illegally on private Palestinian land, and must be evacuated by December, by order of the High Court of Justice.

Netanyahu has scuttled several previous attempts to pass such a bill, which enjoys strong support among Likud ministers.

Netanyahu recently appealed to Likud members, asking them to propose other ways of legitimizing the Amona, which is the largest outpost in the West Bank. A senior Likud official believes that if no solution is found and the outpost is moved, the coalition may fall apart.

Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) demolished at dawn Monday a Palestinian prisoner’s house in Qabatia town south of Jenin.

Five gunshot injuries were reported as clashes broke out during the house demolition process.

Local sources affirmed to the PIC reporter that armed clashes broke out following the house demolition and lasted for long hours.

The sources said that Israeli forces accompanied with a number of bulldozers stormed the town since the early morning hours and surrounded the prisoner Bilal Abu Zaid’s house before its demolition which led to violent clashes.

UNRWA Condemns Latest Israeli Demolitions in the West Bank, Urges Respect for Internaional Law
“The Israeli authorities have carried out a large scale demolition in the Bedouin refugee community at Anata in the occupied West Bank.

Seven residential structures, four animal shelters and four toilet units, were destroyed of which three were funded by an international NGO. As a result seven UNRWA registered refugee families with a total forty-three individuals, including twenty-five children, were displaced.

Among them were a 48 year old male head of household suffering from Parkinson’s disease, a 48 year old male head of household with a physical disability rendering him unable to walk. Also among the displaced was an 85 year old woman as well as a woman 7 months into her pregnancy.
“It is heartbreaking to see such shocking disregard for international law and the impact it is having on an entire UN protected community. While condemning this disregard for international law, we would respectfully remind Israel, the occupying power, that under the Fourth Geneva Convention, it has an obligation to respect family rights including the dwellings of the protected population – not destroy them.

“UNRWA teams have visited the families and documented the cases and is providing assistance to the impacted refugee families to re-build their lives.”
IOF erects surveillance cameras north of Bethlehem
Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) stormed Thursday Aida refugee camp south of Bethlehem and attacked a number of local residents before breaking into a nearby cemetery.

According to local sources, Israeli forces stormed a local cemetery in Aida camp and uprooted ten trees in the surrounding areas under the pretext of obscuring the Israeli soldiers’ vision.

Surveillance cameras were erected in the area to monitor the residents’ movement, a local activist affirmed. The sources pointed out that a group of rights activists were detained in the camp while several local homes were stormed and violently searched which led to the outbreak of violent clashes.

Earlier Thursday, Israeli forces detained a number of farmers near al-Khuder town, south of the city.
