IOF razes Palestinian home in Negev
Picture
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) Tuesday morning razed a Palestinian home in the Israeli-unrecognized village of Beir Hadaj in southern Negev.

Quds Press quoted local sources as saying that Israeli bulldozers knocked down the home which houses seven family members including parents and five children.

The family was left homeless amid extreme hot weather in the Negev desert district. Outrage and tension prevailed in the village due to the continuation of Israeli demolition operations in the area.

Activists called for immediate reconstruction of the house. Israeli authorities refuse to issue construction permits in the area for Palestinians in order to force the inhabitants of Negev to leave their homes and lands, which paves the way for Israelis to take them over for the construction of settlements.

Over the past years, the IOF demolished hundreds of Palestinian homes in the Negev district under the pretext of lacking construction permits.

Palestinian Bedouins homeless due to Israeli maneuvers

Several Palestinian Bedouins were forced out of their native homes due to the wildfires that broke out in Wadi al-Maleh area, in the Northern Jordan Valley, as a result of Israeli military drills.

A PIC news correspondent quoted local sources as stating that wildfires burst out across the woods and mountains of the Northern Jordan Valley due to Israeli shells unleashed during military maneuvers.

Local activist Abdullah Besharat also told a journalist that large-scale Israeli maneuvers have been carried out in Wadi al-Maleh, a home to seven Palestinian Bedouin communities.

“Dozens of native Palestinian families have gone homeless after they had been deported of their own and only lands.

Several among them were forced out of their homes via prior notifications,” the activist added. He sounded the alarm over the striking surge in Israeli military drills in the area, saying they rather make part of an Israeli plan of ethnic cleansing against Palestinian Bedouin communities.

Israel orders demolition of activist’s family home

The Israeli Supreme Justice Court on Tuesday evening ruled for knocking down the family home of the Palestinian anti-occupation activist Murad Id’is in al-Khalil.

The Israeli court turned down an appeal filed by Murad’s family to cancel the demolition order. The court rule was issued on allegations that Murad had carried out an anti-occupation attack in southern al-Khalil province.

An Israeli settler was allegedly killed in the attack. Murad was tracked down by the occupation army and kidnapped from his family home shortly after the attack.

Rivlin: Ariel settlement will remain an integral part of Israel
Picture
Israeli president Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday vowed the illegal settlement of Ariel would remain forever under Israeli control, despite its location deep inside the West Bank.

Rivlin made his remarks during his meeting with representatives of Ariel University in his office in Occupied Jerusalem, hailing a plan to build a medical center in the settlement near the Palestinian city of Salfit.

"It is obvious to everyone that Ariel would be an inseparable part of Israel in any future accord," he said.

He spoke a day after his premier Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday partially expressed his support for the Arab Peace Initiative, offering to negotiate with the Arab world the parameters of the plan.

Ariel had already been described as the capital of Samaria and an indisputable part of Israel by Netanyahu during a visit in 2010 to the settlement, which is considered one of the largest entities for Jewish settlers in the heart of the West Bank.

Army Evicts Dozens Of Families To Conduct Training In Jordan Valley
Picture
On Monday, Israeli soldiers started the illegal eviction and removal of 42 Palestinian families, out of their homes and villages, in the Jordan Valley of the occupied West Bank, in order to conduct live fire training in their communities.

The Jordan Valley Solidarity Campaign said dozens of soldiers, driving tanks, armored vehicles and personnel carriers invaded Khirbet al-Maleh, Hamma and Ras al-Ahmar, and ordered the families to leave their homes and dwellings.

The families have no alternatives for shelter, and will be left under extremely high temperatures, as high as 40° (104 Fahrenheit).

The Israeli military frequently conducts life fire training, including explosives, in the Jordan Valley, after ordering the Palestinians out of their dwellings, an issue that repeatedly led to casualties, including death, when explosives dropped by the army during training, exploded near the residents.

Such types of military activities in civilian areas violate International Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, especially articles related to the protection of the population.

While repeatedly displacing the Palestinians in the Jordan Valley, continuously putting them in serious risk, and even causing deaths and injuries, Israel continues to develop and construct illegal colonies, companies and factories, in large areas of illegally-confiscated Palestinian lands.

The Jordan Valley Solidarity called on the European Union and rest of the international community, to stop Israel’s violations of the basic Palestinian rights, to provide the needed protection for the civilians in occupied Palestine.

Israel remaps West Bank land to pave way for settlement expansion
Picture
The Israeli Civil Administration re-mapped over 15,000 acres in the occupied West Bank in an attempt at justifying illegal settlement expansion inside the re-designated areas, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported Tuesday.

According to Haaretz, the move was taken to legalize settlement activities within the territory Israel had previously claimed as its own.

It also called attention to the sheer size of the project, saying the government had re-mapped only 5,000 acres in 2014, and slightly over 3,000 acres in the year that preceded it.

Commenting on the matter, settlement researcher Dror Etkes said, “It’s important to realize that these mapping efforts are directed almost exclusively deep into the West Bank and to settlements that are far from the settlement blocs, and to areas designated earlier by Israel as fire zones, even though it’s obvious that they comprise part of the pool of land that Israel is gradually handing over to settlements.”

Israel was established in 1948, when it occupied Palestinian land along with expanses of other Arab territories during full-fledged military operations.

The occupied lands also include Lebanon’s Shebaa Farms and Syria’s Golan Heights.

In 1967, Israel occupied the Palestinian territories of the West Bank, including East Occupied Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.

It later annexed the Golan Heights and East Occupied Jerusalem in a move never recognized by the international community.

Tel Aviv withdrew from Gaza in 2005, but has been keeping the territory under a crippling siege and regular deadly offensives.

More than half a million Israelis live in over 230 illegal settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Occupied Jerusalem.

Right-wing caucus challenges Netanyahu
Picture
The Knesset's Land of Israel Caucus to submit bill to annex the Ma'ale Adumim settlement; survey conducted for caucus reveals 76 percent of Israelis support annexation.

Land of Israel Caucus chairmen MKs Yoav Kisch (Likud) and Bezalel Smotrich (Bayit Yehudi) launched its campaign Tuesday to extend Israel's sovereignty over the settlement, Ma'ale Adumim.

A survey conducted for the lobby, which is in effect a settlers' lobby in the Knesset, revealed that 76 percent of Israelis believe that it is not reasonable to leave Ma'ale Adumim without an established political and legal status. 77 per cent of respondents said that since politicians from the right and the left agree that in any eventual peace agreement with the Palestinians Ma'ale Adumim will be under Israeli sovereignty, it is possible to apply sovereignty over the city without an agreement.

"Something transpired in Israel, the most nationalistic government has arisen since the founding of the state, and its role is to promote the national agenda on which we were elected," explained Smotrich. "This poll shows that Israel knows what is good for itself and that the great majority of its citizens supports Israeli sovereignty over Ma'ale Adumim. In the next Knesset session we will submit a bill to apply sovereignty and we will promote it."

Unlike East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, Ma'ale Adumim was not annexed by Israel, meaning that the GOC Central Command is considered to have sovereignty over it. The laws which are applied there bear an amalgamation of Ottoman, British, and Jordanian roots. Over the years, International law and some Israeli law has also been applied.

The annexation bill will, in effect, determine that Israeli law will apply to the settlement. This would mean, among other things, that Ma'ale Adumim would be subject to Israeli planning and building laws, which will permit building in the city to proceed without requiring the approval of the Minister of Defense nor that of the Civil Administration.

During the previous Knesset, Yariv Levin (Likud), currently Tourism Minister, submitted a series of bills for the application of Israeli sovereignty over parts of the West Bank, including Ma'ale Adumim. However, due to early elections, Levin's proposal never came to fruition. His proposal was supported by many currently serving as government ministers, including Ze'ev Elkin and Miri Regev. The question is how these ministers, including Levin, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, and Bayit Yehudi head Naftali Bennett, will react to the new bill on the matter.

4 Palestinian villages torn apart by illegal Israeli settlement
Picture
Israeli military bulldozers in Salfit leveled four ancient Palestinian historical villages in favor of an illegal settlement, locals said Monday.

Palestinian inhabitants of the Deir Ballout town said Israeli bulldozers leveled the Deir Kalaa and Deir Samaan archeological villages in western Salfit.

Eyewitnesses from the Brukin town also warned of the Israeli occupation authority's intents to isolate the Mughr al-Sahms village surrounded by the Ariel settlement factories.

Farmers from Salfit province said the Khirbet al-Shajara village was completely dismembered from its neighboring towns due to the Israeli apartheid wall.

The Palestinian natives of the area could no longer access the water wells and fertile lands which their forefathers have been cultivating for thousands of years.

Researcher in settlement affairs Khaled Maali said Israeli illegal settlement activity reduced several historical sites carved in stones and olive groves to rubble.

Picture
The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has reported that dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded, on Monday at dawn, the northern West Bank district of Nablus, violently searched homes, and kidnapped eleven Palestinians, including a woman. On Sunday evening, the soldiers kidnapped two Palestinians near Jenin, and confiscated twelve tractors.

The soldiers also invaded Salem village, east of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, violently searched the homes of Fakhri Yousef Hamdan, and his son Khattab.

The soldiers also kidnapped two Palestinians, identified as Khalil Mustafa Hamdan, and his son Menhil.

The PPS said that the soldiers assaulted Hamdan’s other son, Samuel, causing various cuts and bruises.

In addition, the army invaded Deir al-Hatab village, east of Nablus, searched many homes and kidnapped three Palestinians, identified as Amjad Mahmoud Odeh (secretary of Fateh movement in the village), Majed Mahmoud Odeh, 41, and Mohammad Hamad Odeh, 27.

Furthermore, the soldiers invaded Rojeeb village, east of Nablus, broke into and searched many homes and kidnapped four Palestinians.

The head of Rojeeb Village Council Awni Dweikat, said the kidnapped Palestinians have been identified as Mahmoud Abu Aisha, Ma’zouz Ahmad Rawajba, Waleed Saleem Rawajba, and Marouf Ahmad Dweikat.

In related news, the soldiers invaded various communities in the West Bank districts of Bethlehem and Jenin, and kidnapped five Palestinians; four including a child in Bethlehem, and one in Jenin.

On Sunday evening, the soldiers invaded Msalya village, south of Jenin, confiscated twelve tractors belonging to the villagers, and kidnapped a father, identified as Raed Yahya ‘Alawna, and his son Yahya.

Settlers bulldoze land west of Salfit
Picture
A horde of Jewish settlers on Saturday morning bulldozed Palestinian agricultural plots of lands on the outskirts of Deir Ballut town, west of Salfit province.

According to local farmers, the settlers aim to annex more lands for the expansion of Bedo'ial and Leshem settlements, east of the town.

They warned that the entire green plains of Deir Ballut would be seized gradually for the expansion of settlements, calling for immediate action to stop the appropriation of their lands and pastures.

In an earlier incident, another group of settlers on Friday evening wreaked havoc on a cultivated piece of land belonging to a Palestinian farmer in al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem.

According to local sources, the settlers destroyed the main gate of the fenced land in al-Absiya area near Eliezer settlement and caused widespread damage to vegetable crops.

They also mangled grapevines in a nearby field belonging to another Palestinian citizen, the sources added. The Israeli occupation army, in turn, placed a caravan on a Palestinian-owned plot of land as part of a plan to expand the boundaries of Daniel settlement, south of Bethlehem.

IOF prevents Palestinian farmers’ access to their land
Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) prevented Friday Palestinian farmers from reaching their agricultural lands west of Jenin.

Local farmers told PIC reporter that Israeli soldiers deployed in large numbers in the western villages of the city and asked them to immediately leave their agricultural lands for being allegedly located near the Apartheid Wall.

The soldiers arbitrarily stormed the lands and forced us to immediately leave our land although it is not adjacent to the separation wall, one of the threatened farmers clarified.

As part of its status quo policy, Israel usually prevents Palestinians’ access to their lands of the villages fall in areas outside of the separation wall.

The EU Parliament discusses Israeli demolition of Palestinians’ homes
Picture
The Palestinian-European Relations Council along with the European Social Democratic Party organized on Wednesday a session at the EU Parliament on the Israeli aggressive policies against Palestinians especially the demolition of Palestinians’ homes in addition to other facilities and infrastructure.

Mazen Ekhail, head of the council, revealed that the EU states have not yet practiced pressure on Israel in order to make Israeli leaders respect the international charters and conventions.

The MPs who participated in the event called for lifting the siege on Gaza, putting sanctions on Israel and cancelling treaties with Israel.

A score of European MPs, who participated in the council’s delegation last March, shared their testimonials on the conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories after holding talks and interviews with anti-settlement institutions opposing the Israeli demolition of Palestinian properties.

MP Ana Gomes said that the European Union should hold Israel responsible in full for the demolition of Palestinian facilities and infrastructure which are funded by the EU states.

The EU funds come from the money of the European tax payers who have the right to investigate the actual Israeli policies against those facilities, she pointed out.

Israel razed 120 EU-funded projects since January

Euro-Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights issued a statistical report showing that Israeli forces razed over 120 EU-funded projects in the West Bank during the first three months of 2016.

The report accused European parties of turning deaf ears to the Israeli violations and aggressive attacks on Gaza Strip over the past years that damaged numerous EU-funded projects.

The Euro-Med said that “the Israeli demolition and confiscation of the EU-funded projects have recently escalated after the European states took action last year to label Israeli settlements’ products”.

The report estimated the EU aid money which has been wasted since 2001 at 65 million Euros. At least 23 million Euros loss were documented in the Israeli aggression on Gaza summer 2014.

The Euro-Med's report also called on the EU to investigate and unveil data related to the Israeli demolition operations and demanded Israel to pay for required compensations.

It also demanded imposing sanctions on Israel in case of the continuation of such practices without halting the EU aid and investment.

Israel To Demolish Homes, Sheds, Electricity And Water Networks, Near Nablus
Picture
The Israeli Authorities decided to demolish homes, agricultural sheds, in addition to water and electricity networks, in Douma Palestinian village, south of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official in charge of Israeli settlements’ files in the northern West Bank, said the army issued demolition orders against four homes, agricultural sheds and networks, in addition to an electricity grid.

He also said that the soldiers destroyed an agricultural road, east of Douma, preventing the villagers from reaching their lands.

The official further stated that the ‘Civil Administration Office’, run by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank, has officially informed the Palestinians that their constructions and networks “were built without permits,” in areas that are under full Israeli control, and gave them 45 days to file appeals.

The demolition orders were issued against constructions belonging to the following Palestinians;
  1.  Ali Dawabsha – Two-story home .
  2.  Rezeq Dawabsha – A room and an agricultural shed.
  3.  Marar family – Two-story home.
  4.  Mohammad Faqeer – Three-story home.
  5.  Ali Shadi Karshan – A Shed belonging.
  6.  Electricity network – Ahmad Abdul-Khaleq Dawabsha.
  7.  A 600-meter agricultural road.

IOF to raze Palestinian home, two structures in Doma
Picture
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) handed a demolition notice to a Palestinian owner of a home and two agricultural structures in Doma town in southern Nablus city under the pretext of being located within the Israeli-controlled Area C.

Ghassan Daghlas, official for the settlement file in the northern West Bank, said that giving the Palestinian owner a two-week period for appealing against the decision is a formal procedure that will not affect the implementation of the demolition decision.

Villages and towns east of Nablus city have been witnessing an increase in Israeli demolition of Palestinians’ homes and facilities.

This coincided with the Israeli declaration of project plans for constructing a new settlement over the lands of those towns as well as establishing a road network to connect settlements located between Nablus and Jericho.
