Israeli Soldiers Detonate A Palestinian Home In Nablus
Picture
Dozens of Israeli military vehicles invaded, in the early morning hours of Thursday, the Dahia area, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and detonated a home belonging to detainee Ragheb 'Oleiwy, who stands accused of killing two Israeli settlers.

Israel believes Oleiwy is the head of “a cell that shot and killed an Israeli settler and his wife,” near Beit Forik town, approximately two months ago.

Palestinian security sources in Nablus said hundreds of Israeli soldiers invaded the Dahia area, after isolating it, and surrounded the home of Oleiwy, before forcing the family out.

The soldiers then wired the home and detonated in, in an offensive that last for nearly three hours.

The invasion led to clashes between the soldiers and local youths in different parts of Nablus; a young Palestinian man was shot with a rubber-coated steel bullet in his face, and was moved to the Rafidia Governmental Hospital, in Nablus, suffering moderate wounds.

Several young Palestinian men also hurled Molotov cocktails and empty bottles on the invading armored Israeli military vehicles, and the army fired dozens of gas bombs, concussion grenades and live rounds.

The demolition of Palestinian home comes following a ruling by the Israeli High Court, although the case is still standing against the detainee in a military court.

The building is composed of four floors, each contains two apartments.

'Oleiwy was taken prisoner on October 3 of this year, just two days after the shooting; he is a married father of one child.

On October 20, the Israeli army handed the Oleiwy family a military order for the demolition of their home, and granted them two days to appeal the decision; the family filed an appeal to the High Court but it rejected it.

On November 14, the Israeli army demolished three homes of Palestinians, believed to be members of the cell that allegedly carried the deadly shooting out.

The demolition came less than two days after the High Court authorized it, without allowing the families to appeal the ruling. The three Palestinians are Karam al-Masri, Yahya al-Haj Mohammad and Sameer Kousa.

IOA confiscates 244 dunums in al-Khalil
Picture
Israeli Occupation Authority (IOA) confiscated 244 dunums of Palestinians’ lands in Sourif and Jebaa villages in al-Khalil in the southern West Bank.

President of Sourif village council said the IOA handed confiscation notices to lands’ owners informing them of the intention to take over their lands.

The PIC reporter said that the confiscated land lots in Sourif and Jebaa are located in different districts in both villages and belong to Palestinian families of al-Hour, Ghneimat, Hmeidat and others.

IOF breaks into slain minor's home in Bethlehem
Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) stormed at dawn Wednesday the family home of the slain Palestinian minor Ma’mon al-Khatib, 16, in Bethlehem.

Dozens of youths threw stones and Molotov Cocktails towards the Israeli forces in an attempt to prevent their break-in into the martyr’s home, according to the PIC reporter.

In their turn, IOF fired tear gas bombs and rubber bullets at the protesters.

During the raid, IOF soldiers detained all the family members in one single room while searching the house.

They have also taken measurements of the house as a prelude to demolish it.

The slain boy was shot and killed on Tuesday morning near the Gush Etzion settlement block, built on Palestinian lands, south of Bethlehem for allegedly trying to stab an Israeli soldier.

On the other hand, other IOF units stormed Battir town, west of Bethlehem, and carried out a raid and search campaign, which led to the outbreak of violent clashes.

A make-shift checkpoint was also erected at the entrance to Umm Salamuna town, east of the city, where passing-by vehicles were stopped and searched.

A similar checkpoint was erected in Kaber Holwa town, east of the city, where movement of vehicles was restricted.

Meanwhile, a student march was organized in al-Doheishe refugee camp in support of the ongoing Jerusalem Intifada.

Hundreds Of Soldiers Invade Shu’fat, Detonate Home
Picture
Hundreds of Israeli soldiers invaded, on Wednesday at noon, the Shu’fat refugee camp, in occupied Jerusalem, after completely surrounding the camp and exploding a Palestinian home -- causing structural damage to a number of nearby homes.

The hundreds of soldiers were deployed in different parts of the refugee camp, while sharpshooters occupied the rooftops of many buildings.

The demolished property is the third floor of a residential building, owned by Ibrahim al-'Akari, who was killed by the Israeli army last year.

Family lawyer Midhat Deeba said the soldiers first demolished parts of the property before wiring and detonating it.

Deeba added that the surrounding home of the al-'Akari brothers were badly damaged by the blast. The families were removed from their properties before the soldiers demolished the al-‘Akari home.

The Israeli invasion and demolition led to clashes between the soldiers and dozens of local youth in different parts of the refugee camp, while a number of armed Palestinian resistance fighters also exchanged fire with the invading soldiers in the at-Tehta neighborhood, near the neighborhood were al-'Akari family home is located.

Dozens of residents hurled stones and empty bottles at the invading soldiers who fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs, causing many injuries. Medical teams were prevented by Israeli forces from entering the surrounded refugee camp.

The soldiers also surrounded the homes of Mohammad Ali and Ahmad Salah, who were both killed by the army in October. It is worth mentioning that the body of Ali is still held by Israeli authorities, who refuse to release the body to Ali’s family.

Clashes also took place in 'Anata town, located nearby. There, Israeli soldiers fired many rounds of live ammunition toward stone-throwing youth.

On December 31st, 2014, the Israeli Supreme Court approved demolition orders of four homes belonging to slain Palestinians, in Jabal al-Mokabber and the Shu'fat refugee camp.
Clashes rock Arraba as Israeli bulldozers knock down Palestinian home
Picture
Israeli bulldozers demolished, on Tuesday, a Palestinian family home in the town of Arraba, in 1948 Occupied Palestine, sparking violent clashes with the native residents.

Sa’id Khatib, a resident of the town, said that the Israeli municipality bulldozers, escorted by police and special forces, rolled into the town and knocked down his family home without prior notification and under the pretext of unlicensed construction.

He pointed out that the municipal authorities turned down his frequent appeals to acquire construction permit for the two-storey home, which was torn down from top to bottom.

Clashes burst out between the Israeli policemen and the Palestinian natives who were targeted by randomly discharged spates of tear gas canisters all the way through the demolition process.

Locals reported that Israeli forces took into custody three youths from the Khatib family on allegations that they impeded the demolition process.

Israeli court approves demolition of prisoner’s house in Nablus
Picture
Israeli Supreme Court Tuesday approved the decision to demolish home of the Palestinian prisoner Ragheb Elaiwi in Nablus city in the northern West Bank.

Ahmad, the brother of the captive, told the PIC reporter that the lawyer informed the family about the court’s decision and that it may be implemented any moment.

A month and a half ago, Israeli forces handed a demolition notice to the family and gave them two days to appeal the order which was rejected by the Israeli Supreme Court.

Detainee Elaiwi was arrested two months ago on the charge of leading al-Qassam Brigades’ cell that carried out an anti-occupation shooting attack near Itamar settlement and led to the death of an Israeli army officer and his wife.

Jerusalemite forced to demolish part of his home
Picture
The Jerusalemite citizen Nabil Idrissi, 68, was forced to demolish the toilet in his home in order to avoid 30,000 shekels fine imposed by the Israeli municipality.

The toilet was built nearly five years ago as it was illogical that three families share the one and only toilet in the house. he explained.

"I live in the same house along with my two sons’ families", he pointed out.

On May 5, Israeli authorities issued a court order for the demolition of the toilet.

However, a building fine of 7,000 shekels was imposed on Idrissi in 2013 while a second fine estimated at 17,000 shekels was imposed on him in 2014.

Even if the toilet is demolished, the fines will remain valid, the court order states.

Israeli army seizes water pumps in Jordan Valley
Picture
Israeli occupation troops Monday rolled into the Deir locality in the northern Jordan Valley and confiscated Palestinian-owned water pumps, a few months after they notified the demolition of all civilian homes in the area.

Palestinian citizen Ali Daraghmeh, a native of the Deir Hamlet, told a PIC journalist that an Israeli army force broke into the area and seized water pumps, used for agricultural purposes.

He added that evacuation and demolition notifications have been handed to some 30 Palestinian families in the village.

“Never ever shall we succumb to Israel’s policies of ethnic cleansing. We will not leave our own and only homes,” Daraghmeh said.

He said historical and personal documents corroborate that Palestinians have historically been the only owners of the land.

For the local Palestinian communities, who had set up roots in the area long time ago, agriculture and livestock are the main sources of livelihood.

IOF to knock down 3 Palestinian homes in al-Khalil
Picture
Three Palestinian families risk to go homeless as their houses, located in the southern West Bank city of al-Khalil, are expected to be knocked down by the Israeli occupation army sometime soon.

A PIC news reporter quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the occupation army inspected the targeted buildings, which are located in the Fawar refugee camp of al-Khalil.

The three homes reportedly belong to three Palestinians who carried out anti-occupation attacks against Israeli soldiers.

Israeli raids, arrests across West Bank
Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) stormed Monday morning two martyrs’ homes in Nablus, north of the West Bank, and carried out a number of arrests in the city.

Eyewitnesses told the PIC reporter that IOF violently stormed and searched the houses of the two martyrs Alaa Hashash and Ashraqet Qanani.

The martyrs’ family members were investigated during the raid, the sources added.

"The Israeli soldiers threatened to demolish our house in the coming days", Qanani’s father said.

Meanwhile, Hashash’s family said that Israeli forces informed them of their intention to release their son’s body within two days.

During the raid, IOF arrested three youths from the city and took them to unknown detention center.

On the other hand, Israeli forces carried out a similar raid campaign throughout al-Khalil city, south of West Bank.

Several local youths were arrested while a number of checkpoints were erected during the campaign.

Four youths were detained in Beit Ummar town, while several Palestinian vehicles were stopped and searched at a make-shift checkpoint at the entrance to Samu town.

IOF soldiers have also closed the entrance to Fawar refugee camp with cement blocks, forcing the local residents to use alternative roads.

Also in al-Khalil, Israeli forces were deployed near a local secondary school in the Old City and opened fire at its students. At least one student was injured in his foot.

IOA orders Palestinians in Silwan to raze their own apartments
Picture
The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) in Occupied Jerusalem on Sunday issued an order forcing Palestinians in Silwan district, east of the holy city, to demolish their own apartments at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

Dawoud Siyam told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that that an Israeli municipal court issued a verdict ordering his family to demolish two apartments of its five-story building in Bir Ayyub neighborhood in Silwan.

Siyam pointed out that "13 members of his family are living in the apartments," which he was ordered to demolish within two weeks.

He affirmed that if he did not carry out the self-demolition order during the appointed period, he would be imprisoned for four months and pay a financial penalty in addition to the expenses of demolishing the apartments by Israeli bulldozers.

The family had tried to obtain a construction permit for the apartments and they paid lawyers and engineers 400,000 shekels to prevent their demolition, but the Israeli municipal authority in Jerusalem rejected all its license applications on allegations that the area would be used for the building of parks.

Netanyahu: Not One Meter of Area C to be Conceded
Picture
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that there are no plans to deliver any lands from West Bank Area C to Palestinians.

In a meeting for Likud ministers, on Sunday, Netanyahu stressed that there will be no transfer of land to the Palestinian Authority, "not 40 thousand dunams, not 10 thousand, not one meter," he said.

The Cabinet demanded answers, Sunday, after reports surfaced that Civil Administration, under orders from Netanyahu, was preparing to deliver 10,000 dunams (2,471 acres) of land from Area C to the PA, as a confidence-building measure.

According to Al Ray, the Yesha Council also strongly denounced the plan, accusing Netanyahu of giving "concessions" instead of attacking the PA and its leaders who "encourage terrorism."

Hammouri: Israel plans to expel 120 thousand Jerusalimtes
Picture
Ziyad Hammouri, director and a founder of the Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights, warned of the repercussions of the Israeli resolution of withdrawing residency from Jerusalemites and described the decision as "ethnic cleansing".

Israeli media said Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is deliberating on whether to withdraw residencies from more than 80,000 Jerusalemites residing behind the Israeli Separation Wall.

However, Palestinian statistics show that more than 120,000 Palestinians reside in the neighborhoods behind the Wall. These neighborhoods are now geographically connected to the West Bank, with Israeli military checkpoints separating them from Jerusalem, and the Palestinian residents of that region continuously pay taxes to the Israeli occupation government.

Israeli racist concerns

Hammouri clarified in an interview with the PIC that Israel is concerned about the demographic situation in Occupied Jerusalem, and is exerting all efforts to achieve a complete Judaization of Jerusalem through exiling Palestinians and bringing 300,000 Israeli settlers to live in their place. He warned of Israel's next escalations that would include demolishing Palestinian houses and putting economic pressures on Jerusalemites, making their lives miserably unlivable.

Hammouri warned of the negative impacts of the Israeli measures that would completely seclude these Palestinians from Jerusalem, and affect the Palestinian education, too.

Economic losses

According to Hammouri, the Palestinian economy would suffer formidable losses, especially in the commercial sector of the Old City, due to the Israeli high taxes imposed on Palestinian shops owners, which may oblige them to work in Israeli facilities to make livelihood.

He pointed out that all the Israeli ministries have special budgets for Jerusalem, especially for funding the settlement projects.  On the other hand, the PLO's budget for Jerusalem is only $5-8 million.

According to Hammouri, 80% of Jerusalemites are under the poverty line, with deterioration in the economic and social conditions in the Old City due to the population density.

Absence of strategies

Hammouri lamented the absence of a Palestinian strategy to face the Israeli schemes. He insisted that the PLO has to cut some budgets from some ministries to provide financial support for the Jerusalemites. He mentioned that 20% of the Palestinian shops in the Old City are closed due to the bad economic conditions, threatening the livelihood of tens of thousands of Palestinian.

The Israeli-imposed siege on Jerusalem, according to Hammouri, fosters the social epidemics among Palestinians, which is something immensely preferred by the Israeli occupation.

Civil administration

Hammouri said the Israeli plans aim at turning the regions behind the Separation Wall into " civil administration", i.e. putting them under military rule. Therefore, the PLO, rather than the Israel municipality, would be responsible for providing services to these areas.

He stated that Jerusalem is a crucial issue for Israel, insisting that less than 12,000 Jerusalemites have Israeli nationalities.

Since 1967, the Israeli authorities have withdrawn the residency from 14,900 Jerusalemites.

Palestinian families go homeless as Israel destroys residential tents
Picture
A number of Palestinian families have gone homeless after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) Saturday afternoon knocked down a string of residential tents in the northern Jordan Valley, in eastern occupied West Bank.

Head of the Malih village council Aref Daraghma said the Israeli planning and construction personnel, escorted by the occupation troops, rolled into Khilet Mak’houl area, in the Jordan Valley, and destroyed a number of civilian tents.

Another Palestinian family has gone homeless after the IOF stormed Khirbet al-Hadidiya and knocked down two civilian tents, owned by Abdul Rahim B’sharat, for the second time in a single week.

Daraghma added that the tents were offered to the B’sharat family by the Red Crescent Organization in an attempt to shelter dozens of Palestinian civilians whose residential tents were destroyed by the IOF last week.

Clashes Following Beit Ummar Raid
Picture
Dozens of Palestinians suffocated during clashes that erupted with Israeli forces in Beit Ummar, to the south of Hebron, after the latter stormed the town to inquire after a local youth who was shot dead by army soldiers on Friday, following an alleged car-ramming attack against Israeli soldiers.

Local Omar al-Za’aqiq, 19, was shot dead on Friday, after he allegedly rammed his car into several Israeli soldiers. The soldiers reportedly sustained various injuries.

Israeli forces predawn Saturday raided the family home of Za’aqiq, in addition to the homes of his uncles, where they interrogated the homes’ dwellers and threatened them with the demolition of their homes, leading to clashes with provoked locals. Forces fired live and rubber baton rounds, and tear gas canisters toward locals and their homes, causing dozens to suffocate due to tear gas inhalation.

Forces further took measurements of the family home of Za’aqiq, in an apparent prelude to demolish the house; Israel resorts to demolishing the family homes of Palestinians suspected of carrying out attacks against Israelis as ‘means of deterrence’; a policy that was slammed illegal as it falls under the internationally prohibited collective punishment.

“Collective punishments are prohibited under international humanitarian law in all circumstances.249 The prohibition on collective punishments applies to criminal sanctions against persons for actions for which they do not bear individual criminal responsibility, but also to “all sanctions and harassment of any sort, administrative, by police action or otherwise,” stressed the Human Rights Watch.

Spokesperson of the anti settlement popular committee in Beit Ummar, Mohammed Awad, informed WAFA that forces raided his home and interrogated his son Ahmad, 17, to inquire after him. After the son, Ahmad, told forces that his father was praying at a mosque in the area, the former raided the mosque and questioned Awad about Za’aqiq.

IOF expands Zatara checkpoint
Picture
Israeli occupation forces Saturday continued leveling works to expand Zatara military checkpoint in southern Nablus on more confiscated Palestinian lands of Yasouf town to the east of Salfit governorate.

Eyewitnesses said that a bulldozer escorted by Israeli troops was leveling a land plot adjacent to the location where a hit-and-run attack was carried out last Tuesday resulting in the injury of four Israeli soldiers.

The IOF added more cement blocks at the barrier, intensified the deployment of troops, and installed more surveillance cameras, eyewitnesses pointed out.

Israeli army sets up roadblock near Halhoul town
Picture
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Saturday morning set up a military checkpoint in al-Hawawer area in Halhoul town, north of al-Khalil city.

Local sources said that the Israeli roadblock caused heavy traffic jams in the area, especially after the soldiers there embarked on forcing Palestinian passengers and drivers to leave buses and cars and searching everything in their possession.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army is still imposing a tight blockade on Beit Ummar town, northwest of al-Khalil, and preventing Palestinian citizens from going in or out.

Beit Ummar residents manage to leave and enter the town through unpaved areas, according to local sources.

In another incident, the IOF stormed, at an early morning hour, the house of Omar al-Za'aqiq, who was killed on Saturday by Israeli soldiers after he attacked them with his car and wounded some of them near the entrance to Beit Ummar town.

They threatened to demolish the house and interrogated Omar's father, brothers and relatives before leaving the area.

IOA to raze 10 homes and structures in Silwan neighborhoods
Picture
The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Friday delivered 10 administrative demolition orders against Palestinian homes and structures in Silwan district, east of Occupied Jerusalem, at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan said that municipal employees escorted by Israeli border soldiers and policemen entered the neighborhoods of al-Bustan and Bir Ayyub in Silwan district and took photos of their buildings and measurements of several apartments and roads.

The center added that seven homes received administrative demolition orders during the Israeli campaign.

The homes belong to the families of Awdeh, Rajbi, Abu Shafea, Badran and Zeitoun.

About 60 people, mostly children, are living in these homes, which were built in the 1990s of the last century, according to the center.

Similar demolition orders were also put up on the walls of a fence, a gas station and a commercial facility in Bir Ayyub neighborhood.
