Body of one of missing brothers found on Ashkelon beach

Suliman Sariye
Two days after Suliman, Nahed and Ateff Sariye were swept off to sea at Delilah Beach, Suliman's body discovered by divers; his brothers presumed drowned as well
A body discovered by rescue divers off Ashkelon's coast has been identified as Suliman Sariye, 19, one of the three brothers who were swept off to sea by a powerful current and presumed drowned on Thursday.
Police helicopters, divers and volunteers on jet skis and speedboats continued to search for his brothers, Nahed (26) and Ateff (16).
At approximately 5 pm Thursday, the three brothers were swept away while swimming during a family outing at Ashkelon's Delilah Beach, while ignoring instructions that forbade swimming in the area.
Eyewitnesses said Ateff and his cousin were the first to enter the water, and when they showed signs of distress the two other brothers tried to rescue them, but were swept away along with Ateff. Their father said Thursday, "I hope at least one of them comes out alive."
The Sariye family resides near the Bedouin town of Kseife in south Israel.
The three brothers all worked at an Of Tov factory in the Eshkol Regional Council. Chief Superintendent Haim Bublil of the Ashkelon police station said the public should be aware that there are no lifeguards on duty.
"The weather is expected to be nice this weekend, but we recommend that people refrain from entering the sea. It may appear inviting and calm, but there are whirlpools and other dangers, and there are no rescue services."

3 brothers missing near Ashkelon beach

The beach, Thursday night
Divers search for three brothers missing near Ashkelon beach; swept to sea after trying to save youngest; 'I hope at least one survives,' says father
A diving team started searching on Friday morning for three brothers who were last seen at a beach near Ashkelon Thursday night.
According to testimonies, the youngest brother bathed in the sea with a cousin. They shouted for help and the two elder brothers came to their rescue, but were swept into the sea themselves.
"I hope at least one of them survives," said the father of Shenhad, 26, Suleiman, 19 and Ataf, 16.
Their cousin managed to make his way back to the beach and notified authorities, who started searching for the brothers immediately, but had to pause for the night due to poor visibility, resuming the search on Friday morning.
"We started by diving at the estimated drowning point," explained the Ashkelon chief of police. "We're aided by navy boats as well as by volunteers along the beach. Many family members have also joined in the searches."
The police chief urged citizens not to be tempted by the fair weather and bathe in the sea, since bathing season has not officially begun and there are no lifeguards at the beaches.
"Even though the sea may seem calm and inviting there are currents and other perils, and without rescue services swimming may be dangerous," the police chief warned.
