Four Palestinians Injured In Traffic Accident With A Settler

Palestinian medical sources reported that four Palestinians have been injured, on Sunday evening, in a traffic accident with a settler south of the southern West Bank city of Hebron. Coordinator of the Popular Committee Against the Wall in Yatta town, Rateb Al-Jabour, told the WAFA news agency that the accident took place on the main road linking between Ath-Thaheriyya and As-Samoa’ towns, close to the Shima illegal settlement.
Al-Jabour added that three of the wounded have been identified as Aid Fatsha, 25, Morad Fathsa, 21 and Mousa Fathsa, 24; they were all moved to a local hospital.
On Sunday, January 13, a Palestinian child, 7, was moderately injured after being hit by a car driven by an Israeli settler near the Kidar illegal settlement, in occupied East Jerusalem; the settler fled the scene.
Last October, a Palestinian child suffered moderate injuries after being rammed by a settler’s vehicle near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city.
Last September, another child was seriously injured after being hit by a settlers’ vehicle as she was walking home from school in Tiqoua’ village, near the West Bank city of Bethlehem.
The child was identified as Hayat Mohammad Suleiman, 8 years old. She was walking back home from school on the main road that is also used by Israeli settlers living in illegal Israeli settlements in the area.
Last August, an Israeli settler driving in Jaber Neighborhood, in Hebron, hit a Palestinian child then drove away.
In January of last year, a settler hit a Palestinian teenager at a checkpoint near Jerusalem, and then drove off leaving the wounded teenager behind.
Several claims were filed with the Israeli police and the military in the occupied territories regarding hit and run ramming incidents carried out by Israeli settlers, but no actual measures were taken on the ground.

Ministry: Candles most likely cause of fire in Dhuheir family home

Gaza Interior Ministry exposed the preliminary results of its investigations into the fire that broke out in the house of the citizen Hazem Dhuheir and caused his death along with his wife and four children at dawn Thursday. Ibrahim Salah, the Director of the General Directorate of Information and Public Relations in the ministry, said in a statement on Friday that the electricity went out in the neighborhood where the house of Hazem Duheir is located because of a technical malfunction.
He pointed out that the fire is very likely to be caused by the use of candles during the power outages.
Salah added that an armed group from the Islamic Jihad confronted the members of the Office of Criminal Evidence who arrived to investigate the real causes behind the outbreak of fire. The armed group prevented them from doing their work and taking evidence from the scene to help in investigating the cause of the fire.

6 Family members died in Gaza due to the siege

Six family members died in a house fire early Thursday in al-Shijaia neighborhood in Gaza in light of the continuing Israeli siege imposed on the Gaza strip since 2006.
A large house fire at al-Shijaia neighborhood caused the death of Hazem Mahmoud Dhuheir, 32, and his wife Samar, 30, in addition to their four children, Mahmoud, 7, Nabil, 5, Farah, 3, and Qamar, 5 months, medical sources told PIC reporter.
The police opened an investigation into the incident, where local residents confirmed that the fire was caused by a candle used by the family in light of the power crisis as a result of the Israeli siege on Gaza.
A large number of citizens died in Gaza in similar fire accidents in light of the use of unsafe alternatives for electricity.
Electricity is out for more than eight hours a day in the Gaza strip due to the continuing Israeli unfair siege imposed on the people of the strip.

Woman dies after falling from Ramallah apartment building

A woman died on Tuesday after falling from the fifth floor of an apartment building in Birzeit, north of Ramallah, medics said.
The 27-year-old woman, identified only as Q.A., fell from the building in the early hours of Tuesday and was transferred to hospital but died from her injuries.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident.

Fire crews extinguish Ramallah car scrap blaze

RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Fire crews put out a blaze in a car scrap yard near Ramallah on Sunday, officials said.
The fire burnt five cars in the yard, near Budrus village in the central West Bank, before emergency crews stopped the spread of the flames.

12-year-old killed in Hebron car accident

HEBRON (Ma'an) -- A 12-year-old boy was killed in Hebron on Saturday after being run over by a car, police said.
Ali Hassan Awwad al-Akel was killed after being hit by a parked vehicle which had rolled down a street in Beit Ula. There was no driver in the car at the time and police have opened an investigation into the incident.

Three Palestinians Injured In A Gaza Explosion

Palestinian medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported that three residents were injured in the Az-Zawayda area, in central Gaza, after an explosive device detonated near them.
Ashraf Al-Qudra, spokesperson of the Palestinian Ministry of Health In Gaza, reported that one of the wounded residents suffered serious injuries to the face, and was moved to the Ash-Shifa hospital in Gaza.
The remaining two suffered moderate injuries to various parts of their bodies, and were moved to the Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah.
Dozens of Palestinians were previously killed and wounded in similar accidents after coming in contact with undetonated missiles and bombs fired by the Israeli army during its repeated wars on Gaza.
A number of Palestinian fighters were also killed while preparing explosives.
Also, several Palestinians have been killed by undetonated explosives dropped by the Israeli army during invasions near border areas east of the Gaza Strip.

4 children injured in house fire in Jabaliya

Four children were seriously wounded in a house fire late Thursday in Jabaliya camp, in the northern Gaza Strip.
Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesman of Gaza's health ministry, said in a statement on his Facebook page on Friday that the fire was caused by candles the family of Hatem Mohamed al-Far had lit during electricity outage in Jabalia refugee camp.
He said that the four brothers suffer serious burns and that one of them is still lying in intensive care in the Scientific Center for burns at the Shifa Medical Complex in a critical condition.
Al-Qidra also stated that the severe weather conditions in the Gaza Strip, during the past few days, has caused 24 injuries, and hailed the efforts of the medical staff that has worked hard to save the lives of citizens.
Two of the wounded are children at the age of ten, one from Rafah and the other from Khan Yunis. They have been taken to the Department of Neurosurgery in the European Gaza Hospital.

Police: 120 People Killed in Road Accidents in 2012

A total of 120 people were killed and more than 8000 injured, including 189 seriously, in more than 8000 road accidents in the West Bank in 2012, a police report said Saturday.
It said seven were killed in December alone and more than 550 were injured, 16 reported in critical condition.
The 2012 death toll was 10 higher than the toll for 2011, said the report, and the number of injuries was 7855 in more than 7400 accidents. Number of accidents was only 5400 in 2010.
